The final product is amazing. Brian is great to work with and all of his craftsmen are professional. We received several quotes during the planning process and Texas Decks was by far the best quality and price combination. The only complaint I have is that the project did take longer than we had hoped, but admittedly some of that was due to holiday scheduling and weather. Brian kept us informed during the delays, though, and resolved issues in a timely manner. I would definitely hire him again if the need arises.

My Story....Brian never responded to my calls, voice mails, or texts.

My Friends Story....Brian got the first floor patio deck and 2nd floor deck installed and it is high quality work. However it has now been approximately 3 months and Brian has not returned to complete the rest of the work nor has he returned any calls or emails. My friend has now sent a certified letter stating that he will not be paying the remainder of his bill due to the work not being completed and that he will have someone else finish the work.

Update to Review
The day after my review posted on Angie's List Brian contacted my friend and told him that he had seen my review. He told my friend he had been having some personal issues however he would complete the work as soon as possible. The work was completed within approximately 2 weeks and my friend is as happy with the finished product as he was with the initial work. Overall the quality of the work was excellent and I raised the overall grade from a F to a C in respect if that.

Brian was extremely nice and easy to work with. He was always on time and spent several hours working through the deck design with me to ensure that we got the deck we wanted.
On the second day of the project, our sprinkler system stopped working. I thought Brian's crew may have cut a sprinkler wire when digging the holes for the deck posts. I sent him an e-mail explaining what happened and he immediately responded with an e-mail apologizing for the inconvenience and saying that he would cover any costs to fix our sprinkler system. As it turned out, our sprinkler issues had nothing to do with the deck project. Still, I really appreciated the way Brian immediately stepped up and offered to fix the problem.
Most importantly, the project was finished on time, on budget, and everything looks amazing. Everyone who comes over comments that our deck looks awesome. We will definitely recommend Brian to friends and family.

"Hi [member name removed], Thanks for the great review! I enjoyed working with you and [member name removed] in both designing and building your deck and to see how excited you both were with the finished product! I would say I look forward to working with you in the future, but we already are! I can't tell you how much it means to me when a former client asks me back to do more work for them! Thanks again, Brian"

Brian was very easy to work with and professional throughout.  His original reccommendation for custom, unbroken lengths of wood was too expensive for us, but he quickly found a solution with the same wood in a different configuration which met our budget.  He used a craftsman who was completely trustworthy to the point where we allowed this work to go ahead without us being at home, i.e. he had access to the house throughout the project.
Brian advised that our handrails were too low given that they are on the 4th floor so he found an innovative means for raising the rails to comply with code, enable custom wood tops to be installed and repainted the metal.  This was not easy but was done very well.
The only thing I wished he would have been more responsive to is to stain the deck.  He advised that the hardwood (IPE) can either be left as is or stained depending upon our tastes as the wood was robust enough to be exposed for years without treatment.  We wanted to treat it but Brian was not interested in providing this service.  He provided reccommendations for stain which I followed, but I was unable to do the job well and now find the deck to be two tone in appearance.  Not Brian's fault but wish he would have provided a quote to do the stain.
I would use Brian again for any future work.

ed

"Hi [member name removed], Thanks for the great review, I really appreciate it! I really enjoyed working with you to come up with a solution that not only fit your desires but you budget as well. Since your project I have found a deck staining guy and would not hesitate in referring him to you, if you would like. Thanks again, Brian"

Brian McQuin was a pleasure to work with.  He coordinated all of the work and was working with the crew many of the days but stopped by the job every day.  The work took 2 weeks and Brian always communicated what tasks and which crews would be coming next.  Brian did all of the design work for our job and offered many ideas for us to consider.  We are very pleased with the outcome - the deck and pavers are beautiful and the garage and carport got a much needed makeover.
I would not hesitate to use Brian again or to recommend him to my closest friends.  His work and professionalism is that good.

"[member name removed], Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate them! I, too, enjoyed working with both you and [member name removed] in planning and building your new deck! Please let me know when the you have the new landscaping installed as I really like to come by and take a couple of after pictures for my portfolio, if that is OK with you two. Thanks again, Brian"

Texas Decks built my first deck for me years ago and I was so satisfied with their work, I went with them to build me a new one. I don t think the work was as good as it was with the first owners. The new owner would come with his workers a few times and leave and they would be unsupervised. They almost didn't finish so the last day they had to work 14 hours to get the job done and the clean up was not very good. The owner never called me to see if I was not satisfied nor did he even come to see the finished deck. They took the wrong measurements and made it too big where it ran into the gate. They had to take the gate off to have it cut so it could open.

Both projects were done with meticulous care, and make the yard look much better. The workman arrived before seven everyday, and worked very hard, despite the intense heat. He was very polite, and kept all building materials located in one area, to avoid spreading the mess all over the yard. At the end of each day all un-used flagstones were put back in the main pile. I have never seen such an orderly work site.

DECK BUILDERS COMPLETED THE JOB IN LESS TIME THAN PROJECTED AND EVEN CLEANED UP MESS THAT I WAS SURE WOULD BE LEFT.
