The communication was slow at best. We had to go back and forth via email several times to figure out the seams and lay out to the slabs we had. At times we had to wait a couple days to get the latest change back and the lack of responsiveness made us feel like we were more of an annoyance then a customer. We had a fairly high end granite that we wanted a straight edge on. Originally my husband made an error and thought the eased edge was the straight edge so upon realizing this error he asked our case manager to make sure and confirm that he got the email for the straight edge as the edge we wanted. We never received a confirmation so my husband called. Our case manager assured him he had the email and had registered the change.
On the day of the install the guys were on time. When they brought the counters in and installed the counter side and bar side. As they installed the bar side I realized the edge was not a straight edge. They had made the eased edge despite assuring us the edge would be right. Our granite was a very unique slabs that we loved. There was no taking it off and doing it over. So now I have an edge that while its not horrible, its not what I asked for. In addition there was a chip on the edge of the bar. The two other quotes included sealing the granite and cleaning at install, but Texas Custom Granite does not seal or do any additional cleaning before leaving.
They fixed the chip for us but it took them a couple trips out and they did discount the counters 200.00 for the wrong edge, which I think is far too little. They then tried to explain that we could not get a straight edge on our granite (Yellow River) because of how soft the stone was however, the bottom edge was the exact edge I wanted and it felt like a cop out since I've seen the stone with the edge I wanted. While the people were very nice, the niceness doesn't make up for the problems. When asked my husband has stated he would not choose to use them again.
After acceptance of the bid, Graham came out promptly with a very cool device that used a laser to take an exact measurement of my kitchen. Installation was scheduled quickly, although it was delayed one day because the slabs weren't finished for our Friday appointment. However, the crew showed up the next day (Saturday) and was diligent, miticulous, and clean with their work.
Graham was very responsive and made sure to follow up to make sure everything went well, including a visit to pick up the check and inspect the work. The finished product was nearly flawless and looks beautiful. I'll upload some pictures once the backsplash is done.
