Sunpro Solar - Houston

Was doing extensive research into putting solar on my house. Salesman promised far more than he could deliver and kept insisting they could. When finally pushed, discovered he overestimated by about 40%. Their price was significantly higher than other companies and kept trying to treat me like it was a "privilege" to do business with them as they are a 100 million dollar roofing company. Never produced any sort of data, just screenshots of proposals and condescending emails insinuating I should just accept what he says as fact and be happy to give them my money. I highly recommend not wasting your time with this company if you are in the market for solar, the whole experience was frustrating at best and infuriating at worst.

Work was generally great, Living in Houston it took them 3 1/2 months to get through the city permitting process. Salesman was super, before during and after the install and we talked often. The day of the install, the panel install folks were super, the electrician was great we had only 2 missed items that were fixed quickly when discovered. The project lead was relatively new and handed all permitting and scheduling of everything. She was not very responsive when I needed her and seldom returned messages and emails in a timely fashion often taking days. I'm a hands on type of person and want to observe everything and see what is happening without being in the way. Getting hold of the project lead during the install became a larger problem during the installation as the permit inspector folks showed up and I needed her to have her folks resolve the issues and get the inspector reschedule back in a timely manner to keep the project from going from 3 1/2 months to 4 months. Key area I would do differently having been through this would be, change when SUNPRO and their accounting folks can draw funds from the loan from up on signing to after all permitting has been completed and then not until actual installation day. Due to the city of Houston giving the permitting an approval to move forward to install and then two days later revoking the approval it seemed to allow SunPro accounting department to make another large draw on the finance funds and would not return the funds until I had the lender to get involved and return the money back and credit out all the associated fees and finance charges until the actual permitting was approved by the city again and we actually were able to do the install for real some one month later. In addition to the Solar Panel installs, SunPro went thru the house as part of their all in one plan of replacing all bulbs with the new LED bulbs, checked the house for air leaks and fixed them and wrapped the hot water heater and checked the addict for problems. MAKE NO MISTAKE, I WOULD GO WITH SUNPRO AGAIN AND THE PEOPLE! Not sure how to answer any questions you might have of my writeup and get it to me.

Overall the quality of the project was top notch. I would definitely hire them again.

Initially, we were only going to patch the small spots in the roof that were visibly sagging and install solar panels. After Hurricane Harvey, we had damage to more of the roof and leaking. Thus, we decided to go ahead and replace the entire roof and wait on the solar panels as to not go over our budget. Since the roof still had potential to leak and it was going to take a couple of weeks before the roofers could get out, I requested that they at least come patch that big spot so that we did not have continued damage to the inside of the house. A gentleman came out within a couple of days to temporarily seal that spot. The salesman was great at responding and making sure that we got all of the information needed. The roofers were on time, listened to our requests and were very professional. Great job done. A bit pricey but they say that this is the last roof we'll ever need. Hope so!

The job went well with no issues

The crew arrived just before 8 a.m. and went right to work. They did their work efficiently. They were super clean in their install process. I also received a lot of energy upgrades to my home, including fitting my home with LED light bulbs (the ones I hadn't already changed over to LED), attic tent, NEST Thermostat (I didn't need this as I already have a smart thermostat), smart power strip, and much more. They did a check on the energy efficiency of my home also. They left around 4 p.m. and it was like they hadn't even been there, it was so clean. I wanted the best pros for my install and I feel like I selected the correct company. I also had a need for exact placement of the outside power boxes, due to the fact that I light up the sides of my home with Christmas lights. They accommodated me so I can still put my light panels on that side of my home.

Company and entire team was professional and helpful anyway they could be to install our solar system. They educated us and worked with us each step of the way from Hannah getting our needed permits to installation crew making process painless. Thank you SolarPro and team. Steve and Alfiya

My solar specialist Amir was great! Install went great. I was concerned about my HOA because I live in a townhome but the new law in Texas says your HOA can't stop or prevent you from installing solar. I was super stoked!

Excellent. To start the salesperson, Mark Donaldson came to our home at 5:00pm on a Sunday evening to talk about a solar system from SunPro Solar. I researched and spoke to other solar companies but none could compete with SunPro. Mark was very knowledgable in his presentation. In fact, my wife was not convinced solar was the answer to high electric bills. After Mark finished talking, my wife was convinced and we purchased a 16 panel system. On July 26, 2016 the installers installed our solar panels. They were very professional and completed the job in one day. I recently purchased solar panels and energy efficiency upgrades at my house in West University Place. I was always curious about solar energy and came across this company over the internet and web browse search. I called up Sunpro and was put in touch with Mark Donaldson, the local Houston sales rep and he walked me through the entire process. Mark is extremely knowledgeable about his product and was able to clearly explain the economic and environmental benefits of switching to Solar. I have to admit I had some preconceived notions about solar given the low natural gas price environment, however Mark was a real pro and made me feel a lot more comfortable with my purchase. Over a 10 year time horizon I'm going to realize some significant savings due to my switch to solar and the upfront investment made sense even in this low retail electric provider market. The solar pannel investment will be fantastic for my family and will ultimately increase the value of my property. Mark and his team of solar professionals did a fantastic job and the foot print was really compact for the panels. The installation was completed timely and I was extremely happy with the end result. I really cannot leave enough positive feedback about Mark Donaldson and the first class professionals at SunPro Solar. I had some preconceived notions of solar energy which turned out to be wrong. I originally had thought that buying solar panels for my rooftop would be too expensive and too complicated and confusing of a process. Instead, SunPro told me that going solar is actually quite affordable because it will reduce my electricity bill by over 80% with the size system that I'm going with. They provide affordable financing at low interest rates, plus the 30% federal tax credit definitely helps. The sales consultant also explained the process by which the electricity company will credit my bill for electricity that I sell back to them, something which I was not aware of. Another benefit is that solar is an environmentally-friendly way of generating energy.
As far as the process goes, SunPro will get the permitting done with the City of Houston so I won't have to get involved. So far I'm happy with the progress and can't wait to start saving money on my electricity bill.
I've called several other solar companies and was frustrated with their lack of response. SunPro was the first one that responded to my enquiry. They actually showed up, came on time, and provided useful info.
