Suncraft Construction

We used this company b/c of a personal referral. They were very prompt every day, arriving close to the time they said they would. The general remodeling itself went pretty well. They do good cabinetry work. However the shower was leaking soon after they finished the job. Water stains appeared around the bedroom wall electrical outlet on the other side of the shower wall. Also, the tile floor footprint fill in where the old tub sat was not well done - loose tile and ragged grout work. Suncraft came out and attempted to repair the shower leak with silicone sealer and redid the tile floor. We did not see any further leakage at the electrical outlet but the floor was still not well done. The major problem with this company started 2-3 yrs after the original work. We noticed the shower grout started falling out in small chunks both inside and outside the shower. If you rubbed your finger along the grout line, the grout came out like sand esp in the areas repeatedly exposed to water. We also noticed some water leakage around the bottom of the shower door area. We contacted Mr Bachman by phone on Dec 9, 2008 to inform him of the ongoing problems with his work. By then of course the year warranty was up. He told my husband that it is "not unusual for grout to fall out after 2 to 3 yrs". He was condescending and dismissive and did not even offer to come out and look at the problem. I wrote Mr Bachman a letter on March 1, 2009 to complain again and he did not respond. In the meantime we had 2 restoration/construction companies look at the shower and both said they had never seen grout done like that. They seemed to think it was either not the right kind of grout or it was not mixed or applied properly. Also, the shower door fell off b/c it was not adequately anchored in the header piece. We are now having to spend over $2000 to repair this shoddy workmanship. The grout on the shower floor soaked up so much water over time that the pan below had over a gallon of standing water in it and it took extra time to extract the water and dry it out before restoration could continue. The shower floor never, in 5 years, completely dried out no matter how long we left it.

Everything was fabulous. They were very warm and personable and did great work. I would highly recommend them.
