Sturdy Doors Refinishing

Technician showed up on time and got right to work. Refinished door and replaced weather stripping. Really refinished door twice due to no fault of his. Our sprinkler system ran and while his work was not initially in danger a sprinkler head failed and the almost dry door was wetted down. He was very understanding and proceeded to do the job again.

Will did a great job on our door. Looks like new.

The initial tech did a poor job, however, when I contacted Julien, the owner, he listened, was very professional and was all about making it right. The job was done both efficiently and effectively. Julian explained the process in detail, and the results were as promised. Even though there were two parts of the door that needed more work than what was originally planned, the final result was a five-year-old door that looked practically new. We were very pleased with the service we received.

Jullian replaced a Door Sweep. The work was performed professionally and efficiently. He was customer focused explaining the process required to install the new Door Sweep. Responsiveness was excellent, since he was in Richmond he came over within 30 minutes. The cost was very fair which included part and installation. I definitely will contact Sturdy Doors for future work.

I feel as though they could have done a better job of sanding trim around perimeter of glass-half door entry. I called Mr Stern and he assured me crew would return. Also, I requested that some type of tarp/heavy plastic be left at door until it was completely dry. They suggested instead that I leave a crack in door! Of course dust, grass and other wind driven particles stuck to door. Also, door has marks where it was cracked because it wasn’t completely dry. Crew did return that day and explained trim looked different and less smooth because it was a different wood than flat surface. Had to use tweezers to remove particles which stuck to door. I must applaud them for their honesty regarding another door which I thought required new flashing. I was assured, while they inspected the door that replacement not necessary. They had a quick (no charge) fix for my problem. They added a fee to replace front entry flashing, as well as door sweep.

The work went well. The technicians were very out going and when they left, there was no trace of any work except for the beautiful door. My only complaint is that the owner tried to charge me an additional $50 over the quoted amount for repainting the cast iron hardware attached to the door. The paint was included in the original quote and I saved the email. There was some debate, but in the end, the owner conceded and I paid the original amount. I obtained quotes from 3 reputable contractors. Sturdy was right in the middle with pricing.

They were easy to make an appointment with and arrived ahead of schedule. They took time to ensure I was satisfied with the color once they had completely stripped the door down to the wood. They respected me as a customer with their professionalism and punctuality as well as the process was completed promptly. When they finished there were no signs they had been there except my front door looked great.

The team from start to finish was very professional. The office staff answered questions and provided estimate information. The workers were courteous and knowledgeable. They were willing and able to answer questions and gave advice about maintenance and various choices available to us including color selection and types of finish. The workers arrived on time and completed the job within the time (4 hours) identified by the office schedulers. They did a thorough clean up job when they were done. After 6 months the finish still looks as good as it did when newly completed, even after the rains of hurricane Harvey. Basic cost was $299 and we choose the optional Armour coat for $60 more. 5% discount for cash was applied.
