He is just amazing. He is thorough with attention to detail. I could not recommend anybody any higher. He does not pretend to be an inexpensive contractor. Everything is A1. He uses only brand name products that are well guaranteed, well warranted. He takes charge of the job and he does the entire thing. You do not have to worry. You do not even have to be there. He came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. I have not needed that large job since then. I do call him from time to time just for information on what I should to if I do not want to do some job, referral. He is available for discussing things. He is a contractor tht you can stay in touch with. My designer came in with her consultant and they were commenting on even the back and the part of the cabinet that you could not see, they put finishes on things. They had covers over things  that you were not going to see once it was closed up, but they did not leave holes in the wall or anything like that. Extremely high quality.

I was reluctant to call Steve, as his web site looked like he only does high rises.  He assured me that he did single family home rennovation as well, but the photos of the high rises "were just so pretty".   Steve visited my house the day after I contacted him, took copious notes, and arranged for his subcontractors to see the house the first part of the next week.  They got their numbers to him and I had an estimate within a week.

Steve offers "full service" and, as he says, is happiest when allowed to do everything involved in the project.  We did not originally intend to purchase the a professional grade stove at this time, but went ahead with his encouragement.  This turned out to be beneficial, as the electricical circuit and gas line had to be upgraded to service the new stove.  When the carpet was removed,-you guessed it- we found a cracked slab.  While Steve did not subcontract the repair on the slab, he did make the initial contact with the foundation company and coordinated his other workers around that schedule.  We only lost a day on the original schedule because of this.

All of Steve's emploiiyees and subcontractors are very personalble, polite, and professional.  Blanco, his foreman, was an exadting carpenter, general handyman, and supervisor.  The tile guys were ablsolute artists.  There was a lot of dust since our rennovation included removing the "popcorn" from the ceilings and tearing out walls, but all the contractors were very conciuos of trying to keep the area as clean as possible.

Steve is a perfectionist.  He saw things that I overlooked daily. He is able to achieve perfection from his subs without offending anyone.  The schedule that he presented to us in the beginning was very accurate, only running over a couple of days.  I received an email or phone call virtually every day during the work. There was only one or two days that no crew was at my house.

We spent more money that our original intent, and more than other estimates.  The other estimates were not all inclusive.  Even though I had given each contractor identical lists of work to be completed, all had items missing from the estimate.  Also there was some "scope creep" as noted with the utilities being brought up to code, repair work on brick and foundation, etc.   We even added some outside work on the siding when we saw Blanco's work.

I have worked with other contractors in the past that did not answer their phones or return messages; we  have gone weeks with no crew at our house.  This was not the case with Steve Hood.  What he tells you is the truth.  Customer service is his strongest quality.

He uses different crews depending on the different types of work. We had a lot of projects that needed to be done and he did a wonderful job managing the project. He was excellent, we are very happy that we chose to work with him. Everything looks beautiful. He came back several times to make sure that everything went well. He seems proud of what he does, he wants you to be happy and he pays close attention to details. The quality of the work we got was well worth the money.
