which we would otherwise have had to spend to replace it and its matching Refrigerator.. Luckily both Sub Zeros are still functioning well.
I have always found Richard's work to be exceptional. He is pleasant, protective of our floor, punctual, and the best serviceman I know.
The first visit by the representative was to determine the problem. It took two or three reschedules because folks called in sick. The part also had to be ordered, which takes about a week. It was several weeks before the dryer was repaired.
This issue was resolved and the technician did a nice job. There was a lot of grace for the scheduling issues this first time around - everyone gets sick.
We were unaware of the reputation of Seasonal Comfort in our area (not very good). Without researching, we just called them again when our dryer wasn't working in September of 2013. It took ten days for the technician to be scheduled to come and diagnose the problem. The day of the appointment we received a call that someone had called in sick and we needed to be rescheduled. Yes, here we go again!
Our schedule was already full and no immediate options could be worked out. Eventually, it was decided the technician would come the next day at 7:00 AM. Fine! Diagnosis: we needed a new fan, but it had to be ordered and technicians don't have pricing information. One has to wait for the main office to call with a quote.
Our quote was $370. Including more than $150 for a trip charge, $150 for technician's time, and $54 (give or take) for the actual fan. Effectively seven times the price of the part for the repair!
When I telephoned Seasonal Comfort to get the quote that afternoon, the person with whom I spoke was very nice. She is the same person who assisted us last Spring. It is difficult to determine who is managing customer service and accountability. I get the sense that those on the front line are not the ones at fault. In the course of our discussion, she actually said that scheduling is very hard. That folks calling in sick is a regular occurrence and it makes it very hard to get things done.
In fairness, when the technicians have been at our house they seem educated in their work and professional. We can't really figure out what the problem is.
We called Miele to inform them about our concerns. They now have factory technicians in the area and they are coming to do the repair, the fan is being included for free to compensate for the unsatisfying vendor experience, and the quote is only $190. Even with the part, the total would only be about $250.
