These guys are a total scam! They did not fix a leaking kitchen faucet for 3 weeks and did not even have the courtesy to inform that their employee had quit the company and no one had addressed our ticket. My tenant complained after 3 weeks of no resolution and that is when i found out that these guys had been sitting on it! Still no resolution and all they do is yell on the phone on their customers! Pathetic! Avoid at all costs!

$563
We detected a gas smell in our home and called CenterPoint who suspected a problem with our water heater. We contacted our Home Appliance Repair Insurance company (American Home Buyers) who had SAP Home Repair Services contact us for the repair. They came out four days later and determined we needed to replace the water heater. They submitted an order to the insurance company who told us they asked for $563 for modifications -- we were astounded since that amount was never mentioned to us. I suspected price gouging so we decided to look into the cost of the materials and labor at Lowe's and found the modifications (parts) were less than $50. The modifications they were planning were to lengthen two hoses by several inches. We were told by American Home Buyers we had to go with SAP because they had already ordered the hot water heater. I protested the price for the modifications but we were told by SAP that we were stuck with that fee. Finally the water heater (Rheem) arrived and they installed it but the technician, Scott, was unable to light it. The tech blamed it on a faulty ignition and ordered another one from the factory. It arrived the next day but he was still unable to light it. This was Friday now and he said he was not sure what could be done over the weekend. Three days later a factory tech from Rheem arrived and lit the water heater within two minutes stating he did not understand why the SAP tech could not have done it himself if he was a qualified plumber. Two days later the SAP called to collect the $563 for modifications (described above). Initially they had refused to take a check (except a cashier's check) and asked for a credit card number over the phone (which I declined to give due to the mistrust that had already developed) I told them I had already prepared a personal check and was posting it that day. He told me he was coming to my house to pick it up right away. I was at work and would not be home until after 5 PM so he would have to wait until then. When I gave him the check for the $563 (I kept my part of the bargain) he said he would have given me a lower price but couldn't since he had spent so much time coming back and forth so often to the house (not our problem).

Issues:

1) The technician, Scott, was not forthcoming with the cost of "modifications" initially. It was not explained to us at the outset or we would have gotten another quote.

2) The materials used were way overpriced (I showed him written estimates from Lowe's) and the modification was trivial requiring only a 3-4 inch extension of the hoses and rotating the tank a few degrees. Nothing else.

3) He was unable to light the water heater once it was installed and took four more days before someone else came (from Rheem) and rescued him. All this time we were without hot water.

I filed a complaint with American Home Buyers. I have been delayed in writing this evaluation due to finally having the time.

When I got home at 1630, I noticed that water was all over the floor in my hallway, and small amount of water in the living room by my T.V. I called and told the young lady in the office what happened, she said, I will call the worker. I called back at 1642, 1700 and the phone rung, I reattached the hose, and clean up the water. I called to.speak with the manager, Scott was very unprofessional, not concerned and said he called me back 8 hours later. So after I told him that I was going to report him he finally says, I will refund your money, and now I am going to another company. Scott never said sorry, he didn't care. Very nonchalant, he was accusing me of lying and stated my toliet was always leaking and we didn't use it. It has been broken, and we use it and we are using it now.
