Project went great. Although we lived without our kitchen for just under 6 weeks there where no surprises. Just to mention a few pros, RSFM has depth in their company structure and resources. They where always punctual and there was absolute attention to detail.
Response from RSFM Inc

High quality work. Their contractors are very skilled. Price was reasonable. Anyone thinking of using their services should know to read the description of proposed work very carefully --- make sure everything you expect to be done is explicitly listed. As this project progressed there were a number of unpleasant surprises (you wanted the walls textured? that will cost extra). One or two surprises is probably normal, but this was more like five or six. I'm not sure why, but as the project neared completion the work slowed to a crawl. There were weeks where one person came out once to do half an hour of work and that was it. Still, I'm giving them an A because the final result is excellent and I felt the price was reasonable.

RSFM did a wonderful job on our bathroom. We had our master bath remodeled. The job included adding an additional 10x12 space that included a slab pour and roof addition. The old cast iron plumbing beneath the slab was replaced with PVC. All fixtures were relocated requiring lots of plumbing line relocating. The job also included a large standalone shower, standalone tub with a freestanding tub filler, and a small toilet room. The cabinets and vanities were all custom built. The ceilings were raised to be vaulted and a faux beam was added. The finish work was outstanding. The painters did the best work I've ever seen with high attention to detail. RSFM is not the cheapest, but they have a physical office with people I got to know, and I never felt they would bolt with my money and not finish the job. I likely could have found cheaper, but I didn't want the stress of worrying about them suddenly disappearing and I never doubted the finished product would be awesome. Because this was a very big project with practically everything being replaced or modified, I would be lying if I said the entire process was smooth without any hiccups. However, all hiccups were addressed and resolved, and any mistakes that were the fault of RSFM were remedied by RSFM. In some instances they even remedied things that were not their fault. If you're looking for cheap, but you are ok with bird dogging the contractors and are ok with taking a risk on less reputable companies, then RSFM may not be your choice. If you're looking for a company that will be there until the end and you're willing to pay a little more for the confidence the work will be done right, RSFM is highly recommended. Recommendation: For any contracts where the fixtures, tile, etc... are priced in the contract, and any overages are the responsibility of the homeowner, I recommend the homeowner research the prices for these items before sitting down with the contractor to sign a deal. You may find the prices in the contract to be very low. This applies to all contractors and not only RSFM. There are programs generating these, and often the costs are low compared to reality. This is the responsibility of the homeowner to know what they want. This is an area where I wish I would have done my homework to avoid the sticker shock of what some of the items cost.

Very poorly. A 3 week project took a full 3 months to complete. There were numerous problems with scheduling delays and mistakes.
Response from RSFM Inc
"Thank you Mrs. [Member Name Removed] for your feedback. We welcome all good and bad, and yes I like to use all feedback to help us improve to be better so that we work hard toward not repeating the same mistake. Being in construction hiccups will happen and it is something that at times is unavoidable for whatever reason but what I would like to take pride in is the way as a team we react to these hiccups that occur. Reviewing everything you emailed me, I do realize our response to many of the inconsistencies were not handled at our level of expected customer service. Since then we have made the appropriate changes so that this will not occur again. I would like to point out that we did also try to make things right and in the end you did say "you love your new bathroom". I promise that we will do better and I hope that you will reconsider us on any of your future projects."

To start, the best compliment anyone can give about a company they used for a major project is that, hands down, we would use RSFM again for any future project in our house. They took on a complete gut and remodel of our kitchen and the results are fabulous, beyond our expectations (and they were pretty high to start). This was out first major remodel in the house that took 7 weeks from October to November 2018 and cost >$100k. Pre remodeling Prior to beginning the project, we had used a designer to completely design our dream kitchen. Therefore, once we went out and got bids, each company would know exactly what they needed to do so there was no guess work and it could be an apples to apples comparison of bids. We ended up with bids from 2 other companies other than RSFM. From a price perspective all bids were relatively similar. However, what’s important to us in such a big project is communication. Matt, the owner of RSFM, came by to assess our project. Matt is extremely knowledgeable about his business and very open minded to the customers needs. Additionally, Matt took the additional time to investigate the details of the design and how that may affect the construction and what additional changes may be needed (not just take it at face value and price it based on the design itself). This proved to be vital as he was the only company/person to recognize the need for additional structural changes as a result of how we had the design. While this of course adds costs, I found it every refreshing about his open and honest feedback about the design, his care for being upfront about additional costs (instead of us being surprised halfway through the project), and that safety/care of the home he is working in is always on his mind. He treated this job as it was his own home. Additionally, one of Matts top GC (Thomas) came to the house to do additional inspections and measurements before giving the bid. This gave us extra assurance that this company would do a great job as they put in the most effort during the biding process. We are numbers people and need to the detail of costs broken down as much as possible, so we understand where everything is going and its not just a blank check we are writing. Matts bid was extremely detailed, easy to understand and I was willing to wait a bit of time to receive a detailed bid (to us, a bid given within 24 hours is suspect as it doesn’t seem as if they would have though much about the project). In the end we did select RSFM for this project and there wasn’t even a though about the other bids as potential contractors for this project. We also asked for Thomas to be the GC overseeing the project, and we are definitely lucky to have gotten him (more later). The next step was to work with both our designer and RSFM designers to select all materials as possible prior to beginning construction in order to make the construction aspect as smooth as possible. This was essential for our sanity during the project and not a lot of companies work the remodel this way. By taking our time (at our own pace) to select the floors, backsplash, appliances, etc, the construction process would be on “autopilot” as much as these remodels can be. This was extremely important, so we didn’t have to take time out of our daily lives during a stressful remodel to leave work and quickly select things that were needed. We did have to push RSFM front office a little to get the project going once we had selected the main items, but looking back, that wasn’t too much of a big deal as you always have to be on top of things for any project like this. Remodeling Originally the estimate was about an 8 week project and needed to be finished before Thanksgiving of 2018. With the slight delay from the front office we did not start until October 1 which would make it tight to difficult to finish prior to Thanksgiving. We communicated our concerns prior to starting about this and that’s when Thomas took over and got the project kick-started. Thomas outlined a schedule for the first month of what/when would be happening, who would be coming to the house, and was always available by text or email. I applaud Thomas for his organization and communication on this project and his ability to always be on the job site at least once per day. From the get-go, he was determined to get this project done before Thanksgiving, even though it might be an uphill battle. Most every sub-contractor that came to the house was employed by RSFM (especially the electricians and plumbers, they were very good as we had a lot of re-wiring and pipe moving going behind the walls). The fact that they worked directly for RSFM, says a lot about the care of the company for the work they do. In addition, they have Luis and his team that do the custom cabinets, they were incredible, they customized every single drawer to maximize space, we will bring them photos of what we wanted and they made it happen, they had incredible workmanship and attention to detail. They key point in the project was the removal of an old steel beam in the ceiling and the insertion of a new one (based on the design this was essential). This was about 3 weeks in. Thomas was able to schedule everything appropriately and was on site extra time during this process as it was very tedious to remove the old steel beam. In the end, the beam was removed, the house was safe, all personnel were safe and the project was able to continue. And while it took a bit of extra time to get this key aspect of the project installed, Thomas immediately re-worked the schedule to get back on track to finishing on time. Along the way, as many homeowners do, we had nit picky requests and slight adjustments to the project and there was absolutely no issues working with Thomas to get it done. In the end, the project took 7 weeks, finished before Thanksgiving and was fabulous. As I said in the beginning, RSFM is the only company we will use for any major house projects and we will request Thomas as our GC for the projects as well.

"It is exciting when a client can see the bigger picture when it comes to the design build concept. Thank you so much for your detailed review of your project and our team. The phase 1 of a design build project is so important because it is in the details that allows for a smooth execution of a clients project. Matt takes pride in helping our clients and utilizing his knowledge that he has gained over years of being in construction to guide our team to execute the vision of the designer and/or client. I would have to agree that Thomas is amazing and he is excellent at what he does and happy to hear how much you enjoyed working with him. It was our pleasure to work with you and we look forward to your next project. Enjoy that beautiful kitchen for which it was our joy to bring your dream kitchen to reality."

I was so impressed with the work Miguel and his guys did. They were able to come out and assess and provide an estimate the day I called. Then performed the work the next day at a fair rate and blew me away with the quality of their work and their efficiency! I would highly recommend them for your next electrical job. Best I’ve ever hired by far.

RSFM rebuilt the roof of our house, a complex project with a lot of moving parts. The project included structural repairs, decking, underlayment, and shingles. It also included insulation, soffit vents, range hood vent, gutters, and several other related small but important tasks. Most people will likely agree that projects like this—substantial work done to a 50-year-old house—rarely go exactly as planned. However, RSFM performed the work they agreed to do, for the agreed upon price, and worked around unforeseen problems skillfully, and to my satisfaction. The company is not “some guy working out of a pickup truck.” RSFM is a real company, with a professional staff. Their business location has a conference room (where we worked out project details). Their support people were always easy to reach and responded quickly to questions and concerns. The subcontractors RSRM hired were skilled, and did their jobs well. Onsite project management was slightly spotty at times, but the subcontractors knew what they were doing, and RSFM made the “mid-course corrections” needed to keep everything on track. The company made a good-faith effort to perform the project on time, on budget. They understand that good communications with the homeowner is critical to a “no-surprises” project, and they made an effort to do so. Even the subcontractors communicated well. I would recommend RSFM without hesitation especially for complex projects. We would have no problem engaging RSFM on future projects, and in fact, we are. We’ve asked them for a proposal for substantial interior work. Everyone was helpful, but thanks in particular to Daniel Baladez, of RSFM, for a first-class job.

All while knowing every project will have some hiccups but how our RSFM team responds is how we measure our constant growth and improvement. So again thank you for allowing our team be apart of your project and we look forward to working with you again!"

Alex was our estimate director and he was very professional. We had several contractors here to give us a quote and we liked his balance of friendliness and genuine demeanor the best. Rick was our project manager and he was professional and very communicative. The office staff was kind and efficient as well. They sent appointment reminders to our email for each time someone had to come to the house. The first day the crew worked on fixing the sheet rock. They did a good job except they were sloppy with their paint. They got some on a wall that didn't need to have any on it and it caused the painter to have to find the matching color which was extra work. They went above and beyond and fixed an old gash in the wall without us asking. Also, our door was off the hinges and they fixed that without us asking as well. Small details that they gave attention to and contributed to their overall great customer service rating. Sergio was our painter and he was very nice and professional. He did a phenomenal job on the paint job and was concerned that it dried well. He stuck around to make sure it matched on both the ceiling and the wall.

Results are beautiful. Matt provided guidance and suggestions in the planning stage. Detailed quote most helpful. Workers were always courteous and professional. Thomas responded quickly and was most patient with my questions and requests. Harvey interrupted the process but the job was completed to our satisfaction and delight. Job was to Remove old cabinets and lots of tile. Repiped the whole house and repair pipe leak damage that started it all. Door between kitchen and dining widened, pantry relocated, new cabinets with lots of drawers and increased storage installed, more electrical outlets installed, new sink, countertops, backsplash, over cooktop microwave, pot filler faucet, under counter lights and new flooring installed throughout kitchen, breakfast, living and entry.

Fantastic!!!!! OMG!!!!! Where to begin ?! We had flooded out due to recent events! Not too bad thank god ! Multiple rooms in my house had no power! I called RSFM, after I had made multiple attempts prior to other electrical companies that couldn't seem to arrive on the scheduled time. Due to my friend at work who highly recommend Miguel, which I understand that everyone in our city is quite busy due to hurricane Harvey, and the substantial amount of damage he has caused! I had called other electrical companies , and none ! Not one ! Seemed to make the time scheduled ! Me working 2 jobs, it's was very hard to wait. Miguel made time! Late afternoon ! Came, and solved my situation! Being a single mother it was hard to miss work, at that waiting for other companies that couldn't show up on time ! I am truly grateful that there are companies like Rsfm still available, and reasonably priced! I will be calling them again for all my electrical needs!

The RSFM Team were excellent. We hired them to replace our electrical service box. Susan in the office walked me through what would happen, and the team in the field performed a quality job. The day they came out to perform the work we had bad rain showers which delayed the installation. The power had already been disconnected and their team worked into the late evening to get my family (including our 16 month old daughter) power. After they were done, they meticulously went through our house and properly labeled the panel (the first one I have ever had that was labelled properly!). After all of this, they charged only the quoted amount. I will used this company going forward for all my electrical work.

The finished product came out beautiful. A lot of attention to detail. The worst part was communication. There was a week where nothing happened that ticked me off. That's the only reason I gave them a "B". The price was fair. It was right in the middle. I got 3 bids and they were all within hundreds of dollars with each other. I think for what I got it would be an "A". I think they did very top notch work. Their bid was right in line with everybody else. They didn't get responsive until I said "I was going to find someone else to complete the job." Then they became very responsive and I got updates. It all comes down to communication and when they realized that I wasn't paying them until I had some communication on the important things happening. Then they got very responsive. Once we got that communication issue dealt with, they were there when they said they would be there and they were there at the time they said they would be there and if they weren't going to be there, I got a call.
With the caveat that we had explicit plan laid out and a very clear understanding of when and how, I would probably use them again and refer them with that caveat, and that's a big caveat. I would use them with the understanding you have to have a very clear understanding on what is going to be done and when it is going to be done and if it's not done, they are not going to be paid.

We contacted RSFM inc. along with other 3 contractors to bid on a job. We were impressed with thier professional and knowledge, price wise are not much different from other contractors. We have a little hiccup on the demolition phase that someday there was no crew show up so, it took longer than i would like. The tile guy was highly skilled, extremely patient with my pokadots mosaic floor design and equally time consuming backsplash. The carpenters are polite and take pride for their craftsmanship. Mr. Bert installed my appliances and my extra long island vent hood which was quite challenging. But with thier knowledge it all went well.

For our master bath and kitchen remodeling, we selected RSFM from a threesome of Angie’s List contractors. Although the three proposals appeared to be of roughly equal dollar amounts, our selection of RSFM was clearly the correct decision. Thomas was the supervisor for the job, which was completed in 5-1/2 weeks – just under their estimated 6 weeks. Communication was very good. We quickly became trusting of the workers in our home, and their workmanship was of very good quality. We are particularly pleased with the cabinet work. We only needed one change order due to a plumbing surprise upon demolition. RSFM’s demonstrated performance as the job progressed convinced us to add to the workscope in other rooms within our house. Thomas and crews were very flexible in making these additions effective and value-added for us. Bottom line: we are highly satisfied and recommend RSFM for kitchen and bath remodeling.
