I has directed to RLC through my home warranty but I can assure you I will never accept that again. This company lied about getting a motor we needed for our AC unit, they never replied to messages or ever called us with an update (we had to call every time), their technicians were either late or never showed up.

RLC Services was assigned to our AC Claim by Home Warranty of America. First of all, they took about a week to come out and diagnose our problem. RLC sent a young inexperienced Technician who collected their service call fee of $100.00, then diagnosed our not working AC to a problem with one of the dampers. The RLC Technician said that he would rig the damper to stay open so that we could keep our house cool for a short time. Of course, HWA denied our claim since the dampers are part of the ducts and not the AC. So I had another local AC service that a friend recommended to me to come out to replace the damper, but by the time they came out the AC was not cooling throughout the whole house. They checked all 3 dampers and found no problems with the dampers and that they were all in good working order. They also never found anything that would look like the RLC Technician rigged the damper to stay open. But what they did find was a bad capacitor on the outside unit. After replacing the capacitor, they checked the Freon level and it was low. They checked for leaks and found that the evaporator coil in the attic had a leak. The leak is not repairable and the coil will need to be replaced. Apparently, the RLC Technician didn't even bother to check the level of Freon. RLC Technicians are either inexperienced or incapable or they are looking out for the best interest of HWA by giving a diagnosis that would benefit their pocket book and not the consumer. Sad!

On August 17, 2016, I requested service for water leak from the attic and RLC was the company to make the repairs. RLC sent a repairman to diagnose and repair. First, he asked me if I had a ladder then for some sealant and I still don't know why he needed sealant. My understanding when has a business servicing air conditioning or any other repairs, you have the necessary equipment. In addition, the repairman brought an unauthorized person and not RLC employee with him that made me very uncomfortable. He says your drainage line is clogged and I did not understand that especially since the drain line was draining. He thought he could tell me anything and I would go with that. I know how the drain line leads directly outside not around the other of unit so I knew it wasn't true. . He asked for some bleach to pour in the drain line so I asked why he needed bleach. I did not have any bleach for him to do his job. He poured water in the drain line and it drained with no problem so I video their repair. The water was still leaking and showed it to him and says “If the water doesn't stop leaking in 30 days to call them back. The warranty last only 30 days after that the customer will need to pay again. I continued to push so he went back into the attic and surprise, surprise, he said there was an elbow shaped pipe was loose so he sent the unauthorized person with him get something to connect it. That person came back in with the receipt book and nothing else. He asked for the $70.00 payment. The drain line was draining before he got to home and after. I requested another company Military Air to diagnose the issue and specially asked him to check the elbow shape pipe if it appears it had been resealed. Military Air did not see any indicates of a resealed pipe not the drainage line going the other side. They saw what I already knew that to avoid a chance a water leak the installer routed the drainage to go outside. RLC did diagnose the issue correctly, did not actual repair anything. If anything, they made the issue worse.

The appointment was cancelled due to a storm that was passing through Houston and affecting all surrounding county's with flood advisories. When conditions of this nature and not being close to the area where work is to be performed we have to make a decision to assure that our employees and contractors are safe. We try to reschedule with customer and customer refused.

Last year the owner, Rudolfo, came out and fixed my AC unit when 2 other companies claimed it was everything from a leaky coil to a frozen coil. My carpet was being soaked with water and I had to put a pan under the coil to collect up to 5 quarts of water a day. Rudolfo took out the overflow line and cleared it and fixed the water in my carpet problem. This year my outside unit was making noise when it turned on so I called them again to do annual maintenance. A different technician came out and said he had heard louder units and mine was fine. He just added freon. The next day the unit stopped working in the middle of the afternoon and did not come back on until it cooled off after 9pm. I called and they were out the next day. Initially the new technician said the compressor was overheating, then he replaced the fan motor without telling me what he was doing. The unit shut off again in the afternoon and did not come back on until after 9 that night. I called again Friday and said I needed it fixed and was told someone would be out Saturday. No one showed up Saturday, and when I called the first technician said he would get a quote for the home warranty company and find out how much I would have to pay to get the outside unit replaced. He said he would call Monday. No call Monday, I called and left a message. No call Tuesday, I called and left a message. No call Wednesday, I called and finally the receptionist told me I would have to pay $1695. I said I needed the unit working and if they would go over what the $1695 covered when they got here, they could come out and replace the unit. No one showed up that afternoon. When I called AGAIN I was told I had to agree to pay the $1695 before they would come out but they would not tell me what they were doing other than new pad, acid wash, new freon, and Goodman unit. After calling back and forth the rest of the afternoon between the home warranty company and RLC, I decided I needed to get another company to give me a quote. I got more information from the receptionist at the second company about what I was getting than any of the technicians at RLC. Oh and when I asked to talk to Rudolfo, I got the run around. I don't think he's there anymore.
Description of Work: annual maintenance on ac unit. Unit overheated and stopped working the next day. Replaced the fan motor which did not fix the problem. Sent in $3000 quote to my home warranty company without itemizing what was to be done and the home warranty company would only pay 45% of the quote which left me paying $1695 for a new condenser.

The warranty company she had prior to was different then the one she is commenting on about. Every warranty company is different and every warranty company has different coverage. Our responsibility is to inform the customer of the portion that is not covered. Any other information has to be obtain through their warranty company. I highly recommend each customer to please read their agreement prior to signing up with a warranty company.

This was the service provider assigned by my home warranty provider. As such, I was charged a service call fee per my warranty, which is why I gave price an N/A rating. I was a bit nervous after reading all the other reviews, but the service tech who showed up was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. My only complaint (a minor one) is that the company was a little slow to call me for the appointment. I waited 2 hours after contacting my warranty company, then called RLC services, and was asked to wait 30 minutes for a call back. It was actually another 2 hours or so before I heard from them, but I believe they actually have 24 hours to respond per the home warranty agreement, so I cannot fault them much on this. My a/c unit was working again when he showed up (naturally), but he tested the pressure and a few other things to make sure everything was in order. He explained to me that this particular model can take up to 6 hours for the thermal protection circuit to reset (there was a brief brownout at my house the day before). So at least now I know to wait longer before calling for a repair -- good to know.

They gave me a clean bill despite that one furnace was 18 years old. When I had my A/C tune-up by Lone Star Repair (also sent by Allied Home Warranty) look at it, their technician took the time to take the cover off and saw a "dangerous" situation with corrosion and leaks. I just have my furnace and compressor changed today by Lone Star Repair. My technician from RLC was just place LAZY or not qualified to do a thorough check.

I moved into my house a week ago and noticed that the A/C wasn't cooling as well as I would have liked. I called my home warranty company (Old Republic) on Saturday and they set me up with RLC Services. RLC contacted me to set up an appointment for Monday. The tech from RLC showed up at 4 pm on Monday and explained that the coils were frozen solid and that they needed a good 5-6 hours to thaw before he could diagnose the problem. He said that there were no appts. available the next day and that they would come back on Wednesday. I asked if they could at least provide maybe a portable A/C unit or even a box fan and he replied, no. We sucked it up and waited until Wednesday (meanwhile, the temps had gotten into the 90s by now). Another tech showed up at 1:30 pm and was as rude as you can imagine. He would never make eye contact with me and kept going between texting on his phone and having a halfway coherent conversation with me about the issues that he found. He kept mumbling about an evaporator coil that may have a leak but his company would have to charge $800 but if it were still under warranty then I would need to get the coil and then maybe they could come back at some point in time to replace it. I asked again if they could provide me with ANY relief in the form of a fan or portable unit until the part came in and he looked at me like I asked him for a million dollars! He told me that there was nothing more he could do and to sign his paperwork and wait for a call back from the warranty company (Old Republic...which is a whole other Angie's List negative review that I need to make!). So Old Republic called me and said that the parts are still under warranty and that I needed to call Lennox to get the parts and that I should also get them to cover the labor and the case was closed in their eyes. Way to go, Old Republic!!! I called Lennox and was told that they only send parts to authorized dealers and installers, not just any one. In the meantime, I was having my water heater repaired (talk about a run of bad luck with the new house) by someone from Trademark Home Services. He overheard my conversation with the A/C guy and commented on how he had never experienced someone being so cryptic in conveying the information that I needed to know. He also told me to go and look on the air handler or outside unit to see if there was a sticker of some kind from a company who may have serviced or even installed the unit in the past. I then went to look at my air handler in the attic and noticed a sticker from Ainsworth & Co and decided to give them a call. I explained the whole story and the lovely lady on the other end basically told me that the previous home owner had an extended warranty and that they could come out the same day and take care of me! Wouldn't you know it, Tracy showed up 20 minutes later and had the cool air blowing 15 minutes later. He had inspected the unit and found a tiny leak in the evaporator coil. He then topped of the unit with freon (since it was completey out) and turned on the glorious cool air!!! He told me that the other company could have easily done the same thing to start giving us relief while investigating coverage for the coil. He told me that some people don't ever get the coil replaced and basically just get their freon topped off every year or two if they can't afford to get the coil replaced. He then ordered the coil which was still under warranty and told me that he would be back next week to replace it! Talk about fantastic customer service. I even went ahead and signed up for their annual maintenance plan too. So glad the previous owners used this gem of a company to install their new system!!! Bottom line, if I had not been dealing with a home warrantly company, I am almost certain that RLC would have told me that I HAD to replace the evaporator coil and that there were no other options. They obviously would not have offered to just top off the freon and call it a day since they had no concerns with leaving my house cooking away at 90 plus degree temps INDEFINITELY!!! What a sad and soul less company.

First of all our technician was never rude to the customer. The customer was very frustrated about her A/C being out. We tried to explain to her that there is a process that we would have to go through with the warranty company in order to get her taken care of. We cannot make decision with out the warranty company reviewing the report. Due to EPA regulations we are not allowed to add Freon to a leaking system its an exposure into the environment. The company who added the refrigerant is breaking the law and could have cost him thousands of dollars in fines.

I'm as much disappointed in the home warranty company as in their service providers. Either I am telling the truth, or they are. You can decide for yourselves.
Description of Work: This service provider was referred by my home warranty company when my HVAC would not go on. They determined that the system was not getting power. In an effort to determine the cause, they changed some wiring in the swith box to the system, even though it had been running "as wired" for a number of years. When an electrician was then sent out, the problem was found to be a bad breaker switch which he replaced. With the wiring changed, when he turned on the swicth, the system sparked and blew the breaker because it was now wired wrong. When I talked to the home warranty company, RLC Services denied ever having touched the wires. Now I have an estimate from the electrician of $685 to run a dedicated line for the system and I still won't have a functioning system.

On a cold Friday evening and after returning from 2 week trip, I discovered that my heater was no longer working. I contacted my Home Warranty Service who recommended RLC. Description of Work: RLC was called out to respond to Allied Home Warranty service for my home. They replaced a 10year old Lennox AC with a Goodman in the heat of the TX summer. The crew that was called out were very professional and put in the replacement A/C unit promptly. It is difficult to tell whether it is the warranty company or RLC but I feel the replacement unit (Goodman) is the cheapest model they could find that would be considered an equivalent replacement. Also, after some post-game comparison shopping the charges/costs by RLC (in collusion with Allied) make me wonder if I was taken by them since they knew I was sweating (literally).

RLC was supposed to check why our air conditioning was not working. They had to come out a total of 9 times(over the course of a month!) to find out there was a leak originating from the pipe behind the unit. In order to do this we had to go through the following problems: 1. the owner cursed out my son for asking when they would be coming - as they kept on delaying the time they were coming. 2. one of the technicians had to call back and apologize on behalf of the owner being hot headed. 3. They said they put in freon in the unit when they did not. 4. they charged us $950 dollars to change out the coils in the unit, when the coils DID NOT need to be changed. 5. constantly making appointments and missing them I am surprised they have a rating with A on Angie's list - I will def. not use this company in the future nor will I ever recommend it to anyone!

As the owner would never curse or think of cursing any customer out. This customer is through a warranty company, prior to us going out to there property two other vendors went out there they both gave the same diagnosis that RLC gave the customer. The reason why RLC was assigned to do the job was because we came back with a cheaper quote. The customer is complaining because when the heat index reached 108 the temperature in her house would not drop to 75 to her satisfaction. We honestly and truly believe we have done nothing wrong and we respect everyone's opinion.
