The father son team were very thorough and my friends and I were highly impressed by the report.  I found the report very helpful going forward even after the purchase.  I could work on things from their list when I had the money and time as not all things were pertinent.
I would not use them again as long as the father was part of the team.  He made some inappropriate comments and made me feel uncomfortable by them.  So I would not subject myself to that again.  But if you are male or those things wouldn't bother you, then you will find these company to do a very good job for you.

We wanted to the property inspected by someone knowledgeable about older construction. When Mr. Sewing's company inspected a different property (1926 brick house) for us in 2001, the realtor was impressed by his thoroughness. "Not every inspector actually crawls into the crawl space," she mentioned. Our experience this second time was no different. Mr. Sewing and his son took 4-5 hours to inspect the property from attic to foundation. If I followed, each would speak out loud on what he was seeing, so I hung back a little, not wanting to distract. When done, they discussed the report with me at length. The actual report arrived two days later. The price was competitive for inspection of a duplex home. I will use Sewing again...if and when I can get on the schedule in time.

Mr. Sewing brought to light several key issues with the state of the foundation at the time of the rebuild of the house. He raised points that none of the foundation companies had noticed, potentially saving the structure from 'correction' that would have damaged far more than it would have corrected.
Sewing and Associates provided me with the knowledge and confidence I needed to assess the purchase. I highly recommend this knowledgeable and experienced provider and would be pleased to utilize their services in the future if needed.

Richard inspected a home we are potentially purchasing after the initial inspection showed some foundation issues. He did a very thorough foundation inspection and explained to us all of the structural issues. He took his time looking in the attic, at the exterior of the home, and examining angles and slopes for movement. He has given us much comfort in our home purchase. I would definitely recommend him to any friends or family in need of a structural engineer.

Mr. Sewing took great digital photographs for us to view, since we were not familiar w/ the inspection terminology. He is also a structural engineer.
