NEVER USE THIS CONTRACTOR! The contractor performed roughly 60% of the job but never finished the remaining 40% and never bothered to return my call. The job started slowly. They never worked more than 6 hours and most days it was closer to 4 hours. Moreover, they were regularly late and simply did not show up frequently. I had to continue to ask them repeatedly to correct jobs that they did not finish correctly or just did poorly. They began by painting several rooms which took several days and far more paint than they had originally estimated. (I had to pick up the additional costs for errors on their part.) They installed two way light switches in six rooms and five of them have holes next to the switches that need to be repaired. The floors that they installed make noises as they do not appear to be fitted together well, nor are the quarter rail trimmings attached completely. I also paid for every door in my home to be replaced, painted and installed. Although I paid for them, several doors were never purchased and certainly never installed in my home. I can add more detail to the complaint, but in short this contractor should never be used. They are unreliable and will take your money. Moreover, he kept several pieces of hardware that I cannot replace including parts of shutters and a ceiling fan. I submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Never use this contractor.

I spoke to the owner of this company about a leak under my kitchen sink. He quoted between $200 and $300 for the repair. He sent his brother/employee to do the repair. I gave the contractor a $50 Home Depot card to help me with the parts expense. The contractor repaired the leak and replaced the nice wood under my cabinet with used, ugly wood, he made a hole right through the outside wall, he switched the food disposal and dishwasher switches and broke the faceplate. He required me to write him a check for $350.00 (in addition to the $50 Home Depot card I had already given to him for the parts) made out to his name and not his company name and he promptly went to my bank to cash the check. He gave me no guaranty that the repair would last. I asked for a receipt and for the Home Depot Card and receipt and he said he would find them for me. When I contacted the owner two days later by email about the damages done and to request the receipts, his reply was "lose my number"... and he has refused, after multiple requests by me, to provide an itemized receipt and to return my Home Depot card with receipt. To add insult to injury, his brother/employee made a very inappropriate remark to me..."... you need a boyfriend like me to do repairs around here..." (my husband recently passed away).
Response from Rapid Home Repair
"We did do work for this person before & I don't know why I went back. She beat me out of money before. She was not honest with me when she called with her repairs. She told me her dishwasher wasn't working & the floor was rotted in the cabinet. when John got there the job was 3 times what she said & expected us to do it for $200. We changed 2- power cords, 2-water supply lines, 1- gfi outlet the wall behind the cabinet, taped, & floated, new plywood on back wall & we had to take some of the plumbing apart to do that estimated cost $ 650. the material cost was $75. I have known John all my life & I and all of the Angie's List customers listed can tell you he is a complete gentlemen. When I start offering my services for free I will let the member know. This is the second time on this list that a customer tried to use the reporting to try to beat us out of money. I wish Angie's List can do something to the the customers that use this list for there dishonesty. I would say 95% of my customers are good honest people. It doesn't make any sense that we do this to her knowing we would get a report like this. John under bid the job & went beyond the call of duty."

Ken and crew arrived at the appointed time, assessed what was needed and immediately began work. They knew exactly the measures needed to support a load-bearing wall and also the details of removing and replacing paneling, etc. Their work was excellent and they were careful to catch ALL debris and kept my house clean as they worked, and at the completion they made sure all was clean and vacuumed and any trash removed. I am so pleased with the results which are excellent both in the way it looks and also will "hold up" in the future. I was impressed with their courtesy and willingness to add details I requested such as installing other door knobs and putting carpet in the threshold. I will definitely be calling on them for any jobs I have in the future.

Kenny is responsive via phone; however, they were a bit optimistic on setting a time to meet at my house. The previous job went longer than planned, which I found out only by repeatedly calling. But they mobilized an extra crew to perform the work on the date agreed when I explained that I could wait no more. The work was a bit harder than they estimated, so they asked for a little more money than the estimate but kept it within 10%. They performed good work and were diligent to finish the job on time. I recommend them.

I interviewed a lot of contractors before starting on this job. Ken was not the most expensive, nor the cheapest. He was always easy to get in touch with and always returned calls. In fact, he called me about a month after our first meeting to follow up (while I was still looking at other contractors). Everything went well at first... demo was quick and they kept the mess fairly well confined. Demo debris was quickly removed. We did run into issues with pressure test problems in the gas plumbing: a large # of leaks in the existing, old gas lines; ended up having the plumber (subcontracted) replace the whole system, but this was in no way foreseeable by Rapid Home Repair. Framing went up pretty quickly and was well done. Electrical followed (again, subcontractor) and was prompt and neat; even fixed some existing issues in the electrical system that weren't part of the remodel. Siding, door/window, roof, insulation followed with few issues, other than many delays and a number of days where nothing happened. Granted Ken had some family issues and I was out of the country for almost a week, but I left a key with them to allow them to continue to work. Real problems began with the installation of the tankless water heater and finish/trim work... these guys are NOT plumbers. It became quickly apparent that they were also completely unfamiliar with tankless water heaters (which Iowas assured was not the case in the beginning). Tankless install was shotty. Part of the problem turned out to be existing 60-year-old galvanized plumbing but part was the install (confirmed by Houston's Bosch-certified install/repair contractor and 3 other plumbers I brought in; ended up replumbing the whole house). These guys are also NOT finish carpenters. It took 3 attempts to get the interior and exterior trim to a minimal, acceptable level of quality. They need to slow down, take their time, and have a bit more pride in what they do. If the trim/finish work looks bad, the whole job looks bad; simple fact. In the end, Ken and his crew did make everything right, BUT it should have been done right the first time! The best part of the experience is that I have a plumber and electrician now. Here were also a LOT of extras that should have been part of the original contract, like the siding.

KEN WAS PROMPT IN COMING OUT AND GIVING AN ESTIMATE. HE WAS WILLING TO DO REMODEL WORK IN AN OLD HOUSE. ONCE THE JOB WAS STARTED, I ADDED ON SEVERAL MORE THINGS TO BE DONE, HE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THIS. HIS EMPLOYEES WERE PROMPT, EXPERIENCED AND HARD WORKING. I HAD NO QUALMS ABOUT THEIR BEING IN MY HOME ALONE WITH MY ELDERLY PARENTS. THEY KEPT THE DISRUPTIONS TO A MINIMUM. OVERALL, A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I WILL BE CALLING THEM AGAIN IN THE SPRING FOR MORE WORK.

Wow! I am a designer that neglected my own space. John, Ken's brother, was an absolute dream come true! We chose to do this job in June and it rained non stop! John managed his crew professionally, despite the difficult weather. They managed their time incredibly well, and went above and beyond the call of duty - always! Incredibly kind, respectful of our home life and space (1 toddler, 2 dogs, staff, and owners always around) - we were so fortunate to have these guys spend so much time in our lives and sad to see them go! John really worked hard and was so dedicated to our many whims, and never complained! An absolute gem and would hire this company again and again! I cannot say anything negative about them! Any problems that we had, John a problem and he always came back with an amazing solution that was so incredibly genius and saved us a lot of money! He listened to our needs and wants, and made it happen. Honest, kind, and professional, a rare find!

Very well. They showed up on time, did exactly what I needed done, were very clean and neat (cleaned up their mess). There were a couple of items which were found which were not in the original estimate. He checked with me on each one and explained what needed to be done. He got my approval before he proceeded.

I contacted them 2 months ago and asked for a quote. They sent someone within 2 days, and within 3 days from my initial call I had a quote for a much larger job. I then decided to go with another company. Rapid Home Repair followed up with me several times to see if/when I wanted to use their services. I finally told them I would be going with another company and they were very cordial about it. The other company was a disaster (it took them 4 weeks to come out and give a quote). So I called Ken at Rapid Home Repair. He pulled up my information within the half hour, called me back and and had the worker come out to my house within 3 days. The work was completed in one day. It was very well done. I absolutely love my poney wall and when I do decide to renovate the rest of my bathroom, I will definitely go with Rapid Home Repair. They made the whole process very quick. They are efficient and do a great job.

The rainy weather caused the project to last longer than expected, but Rapid Repaid did what work it could do during the rainy days. The new deck is now structurally sound as well as beautiful. A beautiful saltilo tile floor was put down on the deck. The deck weighs less now but is stronger than ever. The new roof looks wonderful and Rapid Home Repair did an excellent paint job. The new tile entryway is also beautiful and well done. Kenny and his crew did a great job and we will use them again. They are an affordable and honest crew and they do quality work. Kenny addressed all of our issues and concerns and made us comfortable that we were getting quality work.

Ken is a friendly and caring contractor. He really wants to do the job right and satisfy the customer. He made several recommendations that really added to the project such as removing a fir down and adding bull-nosed tile to finish off a nice look. I am hiring Ken to install storm doors this week.
