First time was recommendation from somebody. I was so pleased by their promptness, just a professional attitude. They had a time schedule that you knew exactly when they are coming. They are dressed professionally. It was great.

The quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism justifies the pricing for using R A Briggs. They are wonderful in communication, we had the same team from start to finish, and most important, after completion and sign off we voiced concern about a few tile alignments and they return removed and replaced the tiles.

They're great!  They knew the area and type of home.  They guys who actually performed the work were competent.  They were generous with little extras like a bit of insulation or affixing a vanity.  My only complaint is the won't work out of the Houston city limits and now we live in Katy.  I wish they would do work out here!

Two workers removed the old cooktop.  They cut a half-strip of Silestone countertop out to make the new cooktop fit.  They used a vacuum on their cutting equipment, so it produced virtually no dust.  They installed the new cooktop and hooked up the electrical.  Finally, they cleaned up and hauled the old cooktop and trash away.
They charged less than I expected because I had been quoted a price of $85/man-hour, and they worked for an hour and a half.

The crew showed up on time and got right to work. They were very experienced and worked quickly.
After the job was done they cleaned up after themselves.
I had used them before many years ago so I was pleased to use them again.

They did a fine job on everything except the hardwood floors. We put down hardwood in the kitchen, and we replaced two sections in the living-room area. All of the wood installed by Briggs warped immediately, but the company refused to replace the faulty wood. They claimed there must be water under the house, though one of their own men checked, and it was completely dry. None of the old wood floors have ever shown any sign of water damage, just the sections installed by Briggs.
I guessed at the date and the cost above. We lost confidence in them after the floor issue, and we have not used them since. Whatever the cost of the flooring was, it seemed reasonable to us at the time, and I have no doubt it was. My scores for this company would have been much higher if they had stood behind their work.

The workers worked hard, were well organized, and skillful. They came on time, and worked continually for over three weeks. Our only issue is that the paint was not as high quality as possible (but they changed it after we discovered they weren't using the best available). The change orders were priced reasonably.

Some of the bricks on my chimney had deteriorated and fallen off of the chimney. Briggs was prompt to estimate the cost and keep the appointment for the repair. The repair appears to be of high quality. I used Briggs several years ago to paint the exterior of the house and was happy with their work and would use them again.

We have used them before. They did a lot of work for us and in almost every way, I was happy with their work. I haven't used them for years now. We had hardwood floor put in to discontinue from the floor in our living room, dining room, and the rest of the house. There were a couple of other spots that the hardwood had to be replaced. I noticed after a very short period of time that the new hardwood in the kitchen and in those few little places where they patched it, the wood had buckled. So I had called them and they came out. They said it must be the water under the house. I asked them to take a look, they went to look and there was no water under the house. They said that there must have been water at some point because otherwise, it wouldn't have buckled. I since learned that when you're gonna do that, you bring the wood out and you let it sit for a little bit in the space where you're going to lay it so that it has a chance to adjust to what the conditions are and then you put it in. They didn't do that, they just came out and put it in. They also made excuses why it's like this and refused to do anything about it. At some point, we're gonna have to totally replace all the hardwood in our kitchen and the rest of the house because it's all buckled. The rest of the house is completely smooth. Since that time, we haven't used them at all. They did such good work for us about other things. If they would come out and fix this and make it right, we would use them again. I think the price was fair.

We did a kitchen update including new granite countertops, sinks, pocket doors and new cabinet facings. The cabinets were reconfigured to fit for new applicances, a wine rack and a new pantry. Wallpaper was removed, walls floated and painted. The project took about three months total. As the project moved along. we changed some of our original plans, extending the timeline a bit from the original estimate.
RA Briggs was professional and patient. Much of the process was new to us, so they explained what they needed to do and why, and how long it would take. They were flexible with our time and requirements. They cleaned up at the end of each day, removing trash, sweeping and generally tidying up before they left.
All of the staff were longtime RA Briggs employees and all spoke English.

We've used Briggs multiple times over the past 20 years on a variety of projects ranging from exterior painting to kitchen remodeling. This particular job required Briggs to totally remove the built-in storage unit / TV cabinet in our family room and replace it with a new arrangement with a matching architectural style. This particular job went very smoothly with only some minor retouching necessary, and the new unit blends perfectly with the surroundings.
Briggs does tend to be high-priced on their bids (at least in our experience) to the point that we do not use them exclusively, typically engaging them for the more involved projects. However, for us they've delivered consistent quality. On those occasions where problems do aris, even several weeks later, they've stood behind their work and have been willing to make the necessary corrections to resolve the issues.

Job took about twice as long as expected. Needed multiple different subs; carpentry, painting, tile, masonary, which took quite a bit of juggling--couldn't paint while someone else was still sanding. Few unexpected additional expenses along the way--each was spelled out appropriately. Very responsive to problems that occurred even after job was completed.

His work was so inferior that we had to have it completely redone by another company. We're still getting letters from him to this day asking us for business. Anybody having to solicit business that way should be suspect. He just sends them to everybody because my neighbors get them too. The responsible thing for me to do was to report this as it is still a sore point after all these years.

They were consistently late, left a huge mess, made it difficult for us to live in the house while they were working. They ruined the shower in the master bath by getting concrete stuck in the drain. This set them back so they tried to cut corners throughout the rest of the job. We later had to have that completely redone because the shower leaked under their repair. they hooked up all the water lines backward, cold to hot , then tried to tell me it was "industry standard" . They got some of the grit from the botched shower job in the master commode. We were using one commode for weeks.. Could not use the shower for a couple of months. They moved the glass shower door and put it on a marble floor, scratching the marble. They used our bed and bedroom for storage and work room. They had the saw in the garage for a month or so. Got oil over much of the garage. They left the bathroom lights on our bed for days before installing them. They had taped paper to a linoleum tile floor. When they pulled it up, the floor had stripes. Didn't offer to clean it, but told me I could. My husband came home and found them watching TV.They put handles on the cabintet incorrectly. The drawers they built did not slide. Had to be redone. They took months instead of weeks. Did not show up when they said they would. We bought new front doors from Bison and had Briggs install them. They trimmed too much off the doors so there was a huge gap on the bottom. They used the wrong finish. Trim came days after the installation and nails were sticking out of the trim. They offered no solution. We had them clean everything up before they started anything else. We fired them before they did anything else on the job. Not only were they terrible, they were careless and offered excuses, not solutions. I STRONGLY advise against using them.

I had two jobs done that cost $100000 and their portion of it cost $75000. They did the job in two portions. They first did the left hand side of my house and then the right. I was very satisfied with their first job. They came back after a hiatus in a few months and they seemed like a different company. I would not recommend them based on my most recent experience with them. They were not timely. I had to only terminate them before the job was finished. I subcontracted and did some of the final work on my own because they had fallen so far behind.

They are always on time and clean up after themselves. They are able to work around my schedule and I work full time. They are wonderful to work with and that's why I keep using them. I've used them for interior and exterior work including remodeling a bathroom and kitchen. I plan on hiring them here in the new future for some more work.

The major issue was the quality of work. Individual components such as new countertops went well. The painting quality was terrible. We still have paint on windows in our upstairs bedrooms. Sloppy. Toward the end of the project we discovered a painting of our children had a large white drop of paint in the middle - $250 to get it cleaned. Hardware not removed from cabinets and painted over. Not what one would describe as a quality job. I t was the overall lack of attention to detail and sloppy painting that turned us off. Although we wish them no malice, we will not use them again.
