Fixed Generator Installation
$20,000
This contractor is unprofessional in fulfilling their commitments. Signed contract on December 5, 2024. Still waiting for it to be online as of August 14. They have said their master electrician and plumber would review plan and submit for permit. That process wasn?t completed until April, 2025. Note the City approved their application in two days! Next, they started to place the forms for the slab but I informed them the slab was being placed in violation of the plat set back line. Stopped work and it then took them another 4 weeks to fix that even though they only had to move the form 2 feet!!! Received message the generator was shipped to them in May and they would schedule installation in June. Well that didn?t happen and they showed up in July. Electrician did his work in a day. Plumber who was to install gas line informed me after he dug up yard he didn?t have pipe. 4 weeks of grass dying in backyard. Hope to get generator by September. Stay away from this company

Where do I start? How about the most recent event. The straight line winds through Houston Heights, which occurred on May 16th. Our block lost power and our Generac 20KW standby generator kicked on, as it should. This unit was installed by Quality Generator years ago. It stopped working on May 20th about 3 hours before power was restored. I called for service, and they were swamped, so I scheduled a service call for June 13th. The technician showed up and replaced the motherboard on my generator at a cost of almost $500 + the Service Call. He said that all was okay now and I had no issues. 6 days later, I did a test by disconnecting my utility power, and the standby generator failed. I called Quality Generator and scheduled for technician #2 to show up on June 24th. That technician was unable to root cause the issue and said that I would need another technician to come out to further investigate. I attempted to schedule service visit #3 to no avail. Ultimately, I showed up at the doorstep of Quaility Generators on July 1st. At first, I spoke with an elderly woman individual from the scheduling department. I explained that my generator was still not running, that I had 2 service calls on it already, and that I was having issues with getting another individual from Quality Generators scheduled to continue the diagnosis. I also said that between the motherboard and the service call, that I was already into the service of my generator at almost $700. There was a previous technician who knew his stuff that left Quality Generators at the end of last year. I asked this elderly lady if I should follow the technician who had a clue or stay with Quality Generators since I was $700 into the fix already. She literally shrugged her shoulders and gave me a puff and walked away. I then spoke directly with the scheduling manager, and he indicated that a master service technician would arrive on July 3rd. Service visit #3 came on time as the scheduling manager indicated. He diagnosed the issue as an airbox crack issue, that is known on older Generac Generators. He did not have one in his van, and said that I would have to get another service call to replace (#4). I called to schedule visit #4 multiple times on July 3rd with no response. I finally spoke with the Scheduling Manager at 5:45 and was promised an answer either that day or first thing on the morning of July 5th as to if Quality Generators had the part or not and timing for the follow up #4 site visit. I called on July 5th after lunch, and left a voicemail for the Scheduling Manager. I called again at 5:45pm (they close at 6:00), and I was told that the scheduling department left at 5:00pm. WHAT DOES AN INDIVIDUAL HAVE TO DO, TO GET SERVICE ON A TIMELY MANNER FROM A COMPANY? I am a complete loss, and now I have a hurricane landing in the area.

Our neighborhood has 'twitchy' power, so we decided it was time to invest in a generator. I researched, and talked with, a number of vendors and went with Quality. Not the cheapest, but offered some great promotions to increase the value (and cut long-term costs). And their installation planning and process is truly amazing. If you want to feel like you're going to be well-taken care of, go with Quality. Joey, our sales guy, was great. Answered all of my (many) questions, and really brought me up to speed.

Project went well, very professional meticulous crew. Thorough install and cleanup. Somewhat more expensive than others but worth the price difference.

Sales, electrical, plumbing, and inspections were excellent. The only issue was trying to dig a ditch for the gas line that had to go under a brick walkway. Not having an iron bar on their truck took a planned 2-day schedule to include electrical and gas city inspections to almost 3 weeks with having to replace areas of a dead lawn. Several trips were made which cost the contractor because of lack of tools (iron bar, wheelbarrow, wrong truck, no battery) and a schedule that didn’t allow for job completion before moving t o the next installation. However, in the end, everything was competed as promised.

James Tomlin was very knowledgeable. He was precise in his calculations of how big a unit we need. He explained the process completely and the pros and cons of each choice. He was professional and articulate. This is the second time we have purchased from Quality Generators. We also purchased a water filtration system through a different branch of the same company. James Tomlin was our salesman then, and we came back to him because we trust him. We are glad we did. Thank you, James!

Went well until this last year. I purchased an extended warranty/service policy. The last two times I lost power, the generator failed to come on. Both times Quality wanted to charge a $250 "emergency" fee to come get it going, or wait until the next day when there would not be that charge.

I received estimates from 3 contractors for the installation of a backup generator at my home.Quality Generators provided a much more estimate of the work to be done.Quality Generator also informed me of the Centerpoint Energy easement that neither of the other 2 contractors mentioned it all.
After a delay of 4 months waiting in approval from the HOA . Quality Generator installed and connected the backup generator on the days they scheduled the work to be done. The work was much more complicated that I thought .The simplest part of the installation was the placement of the generator itself on a concrete slab they poured. Then came the plumbing and the coordinating with Centerpoint all that was involved with the natural gas lines. Then the electrical installation and the hook ups and coordinating the the connection with TXU Energy.
They were very professional and the project was completed on time as scheduled. I was impressed with the job Quality Generator did at my home and my neighbors are very curious about the genarator. I would refer Quality Generator to any interested persons.

The whole installation process went great. Everyone arrived at the stated time and all work was done in a timely manner. We were shown how to operate and maintain the unit. When both the plumber and electrician left the job site there was no additional clean up work required by us.

The job was done in a very prompt and professional manner and they took care of everything. The office personnel was very helpful with any questions and paperwork. The workmen were on time, professional and cleaned up. They are a wonderful company and notified us when to be home, everything was done on time and they now still come out to check our generator. The generator is working wonderfully and comes on automatically for a test run each week for 13 minutes. We cannot praise this company enough. We highly recommend them to anyone wanting a home generator.

6/11/13 Mike Crowl came out for evaluation. He was very knowledgeable. All the other venters wanted to sell me 20kw (I had talked to my Father who has had 2 Generators at different houses and thought that was way too much) He was the first one who said all I needed based on size of house 2,000 sq ft. and all gas appliances 17kw. He also said Centerpoint was offering $500.00 discount which he would add in the contract. No other vendor (I had 3 other estimates offered that information) I called my father in front of Mike and he supported 17Kw would be appropriate for my house. Based on Angie's List Reviews at the time I research, offering more appropriate size, and Centerpoint discount. I chose to go with this company. They contracts were signed on an iPad, and the emailed contracts were vague and fairly empty. The location of generator map empty, all contract said 17kw generator. Mike said the installation would be 4-6 weeks.
I actually had the concert pad set and poured the very next week before I could get the document in the contract as to where the pad would go. Verbally I knew, but I felt uncomfortable with nothing in writing. I had talked to Mike and he said they were having problems with the program.
I also wanted the model number of the Generator, since Generac had several choices. I verbally talked to someone in Quality Generators, but never could get in in writing, I talked about different options, but they put in what they put in. I really would have liked a more detailed with model number on the contract like the other vendors offerred. I feel like their contracts are weak.
When the team came out to install gas line, they accidentally broke a water pipe, but the plummer fix it that day. I found out from my 17 y.o. daughter several hours into the situation instead of someone from the team letting me know.
Sunshine who works with you, as to coordination of the project was Great!! She was able to coordinate Centerpoint to come out to my house on friday 6/28/13 (My 21 y.o. daughter only home from work Monday and Fridays, I work M-F and could not be home 4:30pm) for inspection. She then coordinated with her team to install all electrical components Monday 7/1/13. At around 5:15pm I had a gentleman review, the system, how it works, where to put oil, change filter. He then had my complete payment sign off everything, with the electrical ditch still open. He said he would come 7/2/13 and fill it in. No one came on 7/2/13 or 7/3/13 after contacting Sunshine. The inspector came out on friday 7/5/13 before electrical ditch was filled in. Basically I had an open ditch Monday-Friday in my yard.
The side of the house with the gas line, and water pipe was broken is remaining moist. I call Sunshine and she does have plumbers come out to inspect it. (7/8/13) I was informed that is is the low level ground settling and run off from my roof. I have always had run off, but would be dry by lunch, never saw moisture in that area from run off in the afternoon.
If you call for any concerns Sunshine does actively send a representative out to address your concerns. I am still monitoring that area, also they put the dirt from the gas ditch against the side of my house, left the dirt on the house which the gentelman from 7/1/13 said he would clean 7/2/13, but since he never came out when they colsed the electrical ditch that team must not have know my concern. A representative, Dakota came out 7/10/13 to level dirt, and clean house. It is still showing on the brick where the dirt was, Sunshine said someone would come out to work on it again
