Prestonwood Animal Clinic
About us
Prestonwood Animal Clinic has provided veterinary services to the northwest side of Houston, and the surrounding areas since 1989. Ninety five percent of our patients are dogs or cats, but we also enjoy caring for rabbits, ferrets, and smaller “pocket pets” such as guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and the like. Every doctor has a practice philosophy. We are conservative in our approach to medicine. What that means, is that we stress preventative medicine, but when disease occurs, we advise diagnostic and medical therapy according to the severity and prognosis of each individual case.

We called for an appointment on 7/30, and they got us in for an appointment the next day, 7/31. I let them know that I found them on Angie's List and planned on using the coupon they offered on the Angie's List site. I told them I'd just adopted my cat two weeks ago, I believed it was around 9 months old, and it might have a small eye infection or ear infection, but I wasn't sure.
The woman who answered the phone was very polite, but after I told her I was concerned about my cat having a little infection, she put me on hold, then came back on and said that the coupon offered on Angie's List was only for a "wellness checkup" and that the coupon wouldn't be applicable and the visit would be at least $48. I said, "Well, your coupon doesn't specify anything like that. It just says exams for first time customers are free." She put me back on hold, came back on and said they waived the fee and would see me at my appointment the next day. I thought that was a little strange, but they did the right thing and honored their coupon.
We got the cat there five minutes before the appointment. We sat in the waiting room for about five minutes, and then we were taken back to a treatment room where another very sweet female employee carefully weighed the cat and checked a few things. She also swabbed the cat's ears and then she informed us the vet would be in in a few minutes.
Just as she promised, the vet walked in with an assistant and his laptop and he greeted my mother and me with a handshake. He was so sweet with the cat, and gentle. He really took his time examining Lila. He was very friendly and informative, my mom and I learned a few things about cats we didn't know before.
After about a half hour visit, we were packed and on our way with some drops for the cat's ears. The costs were to cover the testing of the cat's ear swab for infection and for the ear drops, which I thought was fair. I was VERY impressed and pleased with this vet's office, and I will return in the future.
"Thank you for the thoughtful review."
"Dear [member name removed], I am not sure that you are reviewing the correct Animal Clinic. There is no history of you in our database, and no history of any cat owned by any of our "[member name removed]" clients brought into our clinic in the beginning of July 2013. If this cat was registered under a different name, please call our clinic at 281-890-1960 so that this case can be reviewed and the details brought to light. It is our standard to offer the best care available for our patients - which does have a cost involved. We understand the high cost of excellent medical service. At Prestonwood Animal Clinic, we care for our clients by offering medical options, dependent upon the individual case, with differing treatment options at differing costs. It is our goal to help each of our clients become the best pet owner that they can be - no matter their budget."
I have a blind 15 year old PUG named "Happy" with arthritis. His eyes cannot tear and were bleeding. He could not get around much because of the stiffness in his joints. I felt it was "His Time" and was prepared for the worst. Dr. Taylor took the time to get to know me and my pet. After we visited he offered to treat his stiffness and dry eyes to see if there might be some improvement. I saw immediate benefits from the prescription and his eyes no longer bleed. Dr. Taylor did not try to talk me into multiple expensive tests and took a 'common sense" approach to my situation. I know in many cases, with a younger pet, tests are necessary, but I appreciated his caring for my pet in a sensible manner. I don't know how much longer he might live, but when he goes, I will start at Prestonwood Animal Clinic with my next pet.
