I called Norman Frede service department on Wednesday
morning to ask if I needed an appointment for an oil change. The lady in the
service department told me that I didn’t need an appointment. I asked what time
they closed. She told me that if I got there before 5:00pm they could do the
oil change since they had 4 technicians that did oil changes.
I left work early and drove to Norman Frede (which is out of the way for me). I walked in their
service lane office at 4:58pm (there is no dispute over the time). I told them
I was there to get an oil change. They told me that they weren’t doing any more
that day. I told them I had called and what was said. It fell on deaf ears.
I left and on the drive home I called the dealership to speak with the General
Manager (Joan McKinney). I was transferred to her line and the
voice message came on. I called back and told them that I wanted to talk with
her and not leave a message. They put me on hold and I waited. When they
transferred me through again I got the voice message again. I called back a third
time and they assured me that I would get to talk with her. They transferred my
call and the service manager picked up the phone. That’s not who I wanted to
speak with so I told him that and hung up.
When you have a customer who feels that they have a problem with your customer service and the General Manager is
not going to take a call no matter how long you wait that tells me that
customer service is not one of their top priorities. To Norman Frede Chevrolet…when
you come on here after bad reviews and claim that customer service is a top
priority it reeks of a canned response. If it really was, you wouldn’t have
such a low rating. Guess who just lost a customer. I’ve found out now that Norman Frede Chevrolet are just like the rest of the big
dealerships. That’s why the independent shops are thriving. I’ll bet I could
talk to an owner there if I had a problem and wanted to.

They said that it needed extra work done, said they couldn't get to it that day, went and picked up my car started to fix it myself, the problem with the wheel bearing they quoted ended up not being broken. I went back and asked why they said it needed repaired when there was nothing wrong with it. The guy said they were paid on commission. They fix problems that aren't broken. This was not an isolated case.

I am very happy with what they do and they do great work. They use good parts. Their turnaround time is very acceptable and the work they do is excellent. I tried independent companies and shops, I was burnt a couple of times, and then I tried them. They used to advertise their employees as Mr. Goodrich, so all their employees and their technicians are referred to as Mr. Goodrich. The new compressor was $1070 and the new cabin filters, the window repair, the windshield washer reservoir, and all that came up to $762.

I came in unannounced and they were able to take care of my car in the same day. They were very up front with what had to be done and the exact cost. They kept me updated on the status of my car throughout the day and the cost was actually less than they quoted.

It is fine. I haven't had any problems with them at all. It is an old vehicle. Sometimes it takes a little longer because they have to go elsewhere to get what they need to fix the car.

I was surprised that it would be this much work, but you can never count on when repairs will come up, even though we do routine maintenance. Grant was very nice, accommodating and explained everything to both me and my husband at work. I didn't have to relay messages to my husband, he did it. No work was performed until it was OKed. They had a rental car place on site, the kind that "picks you up." My car was swashed and vacuumed. When we picked it up, my husband was running late (a little past 8) and the receptionist was accommodating and waited for him. I would use them again, hopefully not too soon though.
