Mr. Rooter unethically dishonest the technician michael and his assistant had come to repair the main valve as well as a leakage due to a faulty toilet pump. the toilet pump valve needed to be replaced. michael asked me if they could come back after the part (under warranty) had arrived. we told them that our contractor could do the replacement. michael told me that the replacement part had been ordered. I was a bit surprised as of how quick the part was ordered (within a few minutes), but thought maybe he had inside connections to do that much quicker than I could. after waiting for almost 4 weeks, the part never came. I contacted customer service via email. sharon responded and told me that michael had ordered the part again. it would be delivered to their office, and they asked me again if they could come out for installation. I told them that wouldn’t be needed as our contractor would be doing that. I asked them to let me know when the part had arrived, so that our contractor could go to their office to pick it up. after waiting for 3 weeks, the part still never came. I contacted sharon again. she said that the order had been shipped to our house. what? they told me earlier that it had been ordered and would be shipped to their office. now it had been shipped to our house? notice how the story had changed? sharon’s last email to me was on may 15th. I had contacted her twice (on may 18th and may 22nd) asking for the part number so that I could contact the manufacturer. we had to figure out the part number (which was the main reason why we contacted Mr. Rooter’s customer service in the first place), and contacted the manufacturer. they said that they never got any request to send a replacement part to our home address. it was when I realized that michael had never ordered the part in the first place. it is because we had declined for them to come back again for the installation, thus no reason for them to order the part. we are beyond disgusted that we had to wait more than 2 months for a part that never came. and with their empty promises of having ordered the part. to us, that was unethically dishonest (because we had declined their offer to come over to do the part replacement). they could have given us the part number and asked us to make an order ourselves instead of waiting for nothing.
Response from Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Houston

"We are sorry you found our service to be unsatisfactory. We aim to be prompt, courteous and provide quality solutions. Mr Rooter Plumbing has successfully served countless customers and our management team has reached out to you to determine what we can do to rectify the situation. You stated you did not know at the moment how we could rectify the situation, but did want to emphasize that Michael was professional during the repair. We sincerely apologize about the breakdown in communication on our side between the field and office staff, as this is not our standard mode of operation. If you determine there is something we can do to rectify the situation in the future, please do not hesitate to contact our Field Manager, as he is the one who has been in communication with you."

Our kitchen sink was severely clogged. Someone put too much food down the disposal, and it backed up the disposal and the connected sink. We tried our own hand-held snake, as well as Draino and Liquid Plumber to Yes avail. Our technician arrived right on time and took care of the clog while I ran out to pick up my son from school. I didn't worry about leaving him there and found the job completed when I returned 30 minutes later. It has stayed clear and the cost was very reasonable.

Came on on a Sunday (Father's Day) and fixed the problem for $250 by snaking the drain.  It was difficult to get the snake to turn down the drainpipe instead to going straight through to the other sink.   (I tried this myself with a hand snake several times and failed!)  He first proposed to get at if from the attic but that wasn't possible; don't know if that would have been more or less $.  The guy Gavin was very nice and professional and was able to fix the problem quickly.

This company was recommended by someone in the neighborhood.  I was down on them because they wanted $273 to install a garbage disposal and they won't tell you that over the phone (Home Depot Install was $109).

But this was a good experience on a Sunday so my attitude toward them has greatly improved.

Leak was still there after replacement. I was told by another that the o-rings were not the correct ones. The serviceman then quoted a very price to replace the softener. Me Rooter would not refund the money--a total rip-off.

The company was initially responsive. Came out quickly and made a quote of $6850, to my mother, who trusted them immediately. She is a git-her-done kind of gal and does not tend to want to wait for additional estimates. So she signed their estimate and they began the work.  About two days in they discovered the need to replace 20 feet of sewer. They did not present a written quote on the additional work, just mentioned the additional work in passing. My mother had the impression that the total cost for the work would increase about $500.
The weather was poor, so understandably the work was delayed, however, they did not keep my mother abreast of accurate arrival times, occasionally not showing or showing late. Upon completion of the work, after they left, it was noted that the cleanout was sticking up 7 inches or more out of the ground.
The total bill for the work was $14,395.43. Several plumbers, when presented the scenario over the phone, quoted an estimated cost of $1300 to $3,000 for the work. I have contacted Mr. Rooter to discuss my mother's bill and their apparent policy of taking advantage of senior citizens as well as to register our complaint about the cleanout. They indicated that they would send someone out today to deal with sinking the cleanout into the concrete. And said that they would have someone contact me today to discuss the pricing. I sure do hope they come through. Whether they do or not, please be aware, with Mr. Rooter, you need to get other estimates from other companies to ensure that they are in line with what is appropriate.
I will keep you posted.

They showed up earlier than expected bc they had a schedule change and asked me if they could come sooner. He did the job and "enrolled" my son's help (which he loved).  He wiped up the excess water and the old standing water that was under there. He used a magic eraser to clean the floor then put the ring in put the toilet back and put a bead/seal around the toilet that looks way WAY better than any bead i've ever seen my wonderful do;)  Gave us a military discount too.

We were fortunate that this company could come out within a couple of hours. The sink that the A/C drains to was completely blocked and filling with water from the unit in the attic. Previous attempts by another company to clear the blockage with compressed air proved insufficient so a snake was employed. Within half an hour the clog was cleared and the Tech added a bio chem to the cleanout in the attic to coat the entire drain as a finishing touch. We were left with the bottle and instructed in how to use the agent as a preventative measure going forward.
The price seemed only a little high however their immediate availability made it worth while. The Tech was very professional and answered all our question, he also did a thorough job of cleaning up upon completion of work. I would use this company again and recommend it others.

I would use them again. To me it looks good, that had to dig down to the sewer line. They wanted to make sure I was satisfied and didn't have any questions. Jonathon Lebron is the one that did the installation and he did a great job.

Very well.  Technicians were prompt and effective.  Recommended doing waterjet treatment to clear grease that could not be cleared by the snake.  Allowed me to credit the amount already paid for that drain toward the waterjet treatment.
I would use again and would recommend.

It went fine but did reveal that sags in our sewer line are causing water and debris to pool and not move through to the main entrance to the city system.  Cost to completely replace the sewer line was estimated to be quite costly - in excess of $10,000.

They may have changed, but we called them out probably 7-8 years ago to install a garbage disposal.  The basic charge was $49 to just  look at  the job, and if they did the job then the $49 would be credited to the job.  They proposed an estimate that was 3 times what the service charge that Sears proposed if we bought their disposal. If I recall correctly Mr.Router's estimate it was something like $280.   We told him no and wrote a check for $49.  Before the plumber left he continued to try and bargain,  first a discount, then if you sign a service contract it would be even less. My wife told him to leave.  We found someone to do it for less than half of Mr Router's estimate.  Things may have changed but I won't use them, ever.

  • Contacted Mr. Rooter. Receptionist was very polite. Took all my information. Said a tech would be available in a couple of hours. Called me back to let me know who would be coming to my house with a time period of 45 minutes. Service Tech came, I explained situation to him. He then quoted me a price before he started the job. He used his inline camera to find where the sewer line was plugged. He then used his roto rooter machine to unplug the sewer line. He worked diligently until the line was clean and flowing good. He then showed me the inside of the line using the camera again. The service tech was very knowledgeable and knew how to use the equipment.  I was able to use a $50 coupon I printed from their website. I would use this company again.

The technician, Jeremiah Cooper, arrived on time. He was very professional and courteous. He left the work area clean and always wore covers on his shoes to keep from tracking dirt into the house from the outside.
