I brought our German shepard in to have a repair done to his hernia located at his belly button.  We knew his mother bit his umbilical cord too short when he was born.  He was the pick of the litter, the biggest male, is our pride and joy, and we take his care very seriously.  He had all of his puppy shots done at this clinic.  They are expensive and charge for EVERY little item possible.  We have used Meyerland animal clinic for years without much of a problem other than the cost UNTIL this May.

After paying over 200.oo for a pre-surgery estimate, evaluation, and medication, we scheduled his surgery with an estimate of 511.00 for the repair.   The clinic called us and said they had an opening due to a break down of their dog teeth cleaning machine.  They had "all these appointments open" and could not perform the cleaning services for other pet owners.  It seemed weird but reasonable.  We dropped him off the next day before surgery.  The next morning I received a call while I was teaching a class. The vet said would not perform the surgery due to a "skin infection."  I could not talk at that time and decided to take care of the issue when I went to pick him up.   When I arrived, I waited my turn.  A lady was picking up her dogs who apparently had been groomed.  The groomer told the customer that the one dog wasn't completely dry due to their blower not working.  She had the dog outside, tied to the fence to let "mother nature" give them a helping hand.  For me, another red flag went up.  Now I knew of two pieces of broken equipment and owners not getting services they had scheduled,  When it was my turn, the receptionist handed me a bill for over $300.00 when NO operation took place.  I asked if I would be charged again when the surgery was rescheduled. She said, "Yes."  My level of anger began to rise and I tried to stay calm and ask more questions.  The receptionist called the vet and had some of the charges adjusted with me arguing that I paid for a pre evaluation not five days before the operation was to take place.  They should have seen the infection when the vet stood my dog up and examined his underbelly. I was thinking at the time this had to be an oozing rash that was serious.   The office manager was not in and neither was the vet at the time.  I paid for the medication for the "infection" and left the clinic.   I was concerned about my dog's infection and looked at it outside the clinic.  It appeared to me to be  two flea bites near the surgical site.  The was no redness, other that the two small bites, no pus, no flaking, no drainage, no rash,...I was furious.  After two days, I called them.  They didn't call me. The office manager said that my report of the dog on the fence wasn't true,(implied I lied) and the balance remains. That was my final straw. I told them I would pay the balance because I am honest.  I also told them I had four dogs, two parrots and would no longer use their clinic.  I find the whole situation to be "shady" and questionable. I wouldn't step foot in that clinic again with one of my animals even if someone paid me to do it.

We've been going to Meyerland Animal Clinic for about 18 years with a variety of dogs.  We've always been satisfied with the quality of care and the quality of the staff.  My only complaint is the cost, although I suspect that nearby vets are similar.

I have been taking my dog here for the past year and a half to see Dr. Vining. So far so good... I love the folks at the front desk. They treat my dog just like I do (my previous vet's office did not) and are very attentive. Dr. Vining is also great. My dog is older now and he has a lot of experience with geriatric dogs.

The very first date I took my puppy in was 7/29/13. In my contract with the breeder, even though the puppy had been to the vet earlier in the week, it was required you took the puppy to the vet of your choice to have him looked at for a second opinion so that the 1 year guarantee, she offered, would play into effect. When I initially took him, they said he had a heart murmur and needed an EKG, so I agreed. Anyways she showed me the chart of his heartbeat, and it was nothing major, to be honest I think he was just excited and in a new unfamiliar place and just taken away from his family the day before. I was charged $60 for an EKG on a dog that weighed 1.9oz at the time.I made sure to tell Dr Werner that my breeder told me not to have Cotton vaccinated for Leptospirosis and Bordatella because they have caused complications in her past litter from the same line and the Bordatella shot even killed one of her puppies. The vet, Dr Karen Werner seemed to not agree and began to give me some speech on how he will need these shots and why but her reasons were all worthy of a debate in defence of my breeder. I returned on 8/13/13 for what was only supposed to be his 2nd vaccination of DHP-P. When I got the bill, it showed that I was charged for not the 1st but the 2nd Leptospirosis vaccination. How does one make such a careless mistake of giving my puppy the wrong vaccine? Because if he were to get that vaccine, then he should of started on the 1st shot, not skipped right over to the second vaccination. I had made very clear instructions to the vet not to give my puppy this shot, yet he was given it anyways.
I feel this clinic does't have the best interest in the pet owner, i have not and will not ever go back to this clinic because of this careless mistake.

We love all the doctors at Meyerland vet. They are a bit pricey but do a great job with our dog and genuinely seem concerned with him. We have been going here for over 20 years! Very happy with care. Great front desk employees!

  • I have been taking my two dogs to the Meyerland Animal Clinic for the past year and it's been a good experience each visit. The staff is friendly and the vets take their time with me. Their hours of business are very convenient; I am able to go early in the evening or on the weekend so I don't have to take off from work. If asked, I would recommend this clinic to other pet owners.

We arrived and were greeted promptly in a friendly manner. Since we were able to print and quot;new patientand quot; forms ahead of time and brought our pet's file the receptionist quickly got a file set up. We didn't wait more than fifteen minutes to be seen by a nurse, who took our pet's vitals and asked various questions about his health. The vet, Dr. Bryant, came in a displayed a nice, patient manner while examing our dog. She asked pertinent questions about his health, explained a great deal (in easy to understand terms) about his health and potential threats being that he is a senior dog. The visit ended on a very pleasant note. We were reassured that his food could be special ordered with advanced notice and not to hesitate to call with questions.

Visits with an appointment are just over $55 and walk-ins are just over $65. The appointments do not include any type of special testing, x-rays or prescriptions (which they have a pet pharmacy on site). We did like the overall atmosphere and plan to visit again. They do not offer grooming services.

My cat Mr. Lucy was very sick from the first day that Dr. Werner saw him. I switched to Dr. Werner after an extremely negative experience with Pearland Animal Clinic, which is a tale for another time. Dr. Werner was very clear with me about what we could expect to do. I knew that my cat could not be cured. However she agreed to manage his medical condition for as long as possible. This clinic has the latest veternary treatments available. One worked miracles (an injectible for arthritis) and the other didn't work as well (ultrasound) but was worth the try. We were able to keep Mr. Lucy alive for more than a year and he had many, many good days. Everyone on the staff was extremely caring and kind. It was not an inexpensive proposition to prolong his life, but the clinic found ways to help me contain costs. Dr. Werner or Dr. Teller would recommend a course of treatment, which would then be carried out by techs on subsequent visits. Vets and techs were flexible with treatments, trying many things to keep my cat as comfortable as possible, and working with what I could do myself. My cat had been abused before he came to live with me, and he was never able to tolerate my skill level in giving him injections. I brought him into the clinic and techs administered his injections and his IVs for a very low fee. Everyone was gentle and caring with him and he was able to function in our everyday life without a re-emergence of the nightmares he had when he first came to live with me. I think that was remarkable given how frequently he was at the clinic--sometimes three times a week. I can't say enough nice things about Meyerland Animal Clinic and the doctors and techs there, as well as the front office people who got to know us well. When Mr. Lucy quietly passed away at home and the clinic was notified, I received a sympathy card signed by everyone who had been involved with his treatment during the previous year, and that was a lot of people. This is the kind of vet office that you always hope you will find.

We have been going there for 10 years. All the staff is very good and the doctors are good. If you call them, they answer the phone. They take a personal interest in the pets. We go to Dr. Moss and he is very good. He looks very young and like just out of med school. If you call him with any issue, he will tell you to do this and that. They check the puppy completely, but they don’t take advantage of the situation. They do it like they have to do it no more. They are very professional about that.

We have seen most of the veterinarians in the clinic and all of them have been prompt, caring, and professional. One time, we had an emergency with our cat and the veterinarian personally called afterward to follow-up after referring us to specialty care.

The staff seemed friendly and caring. The cages were not especially roomy. When the dogs were picked up, one was smelly and dirty and she had diarrhea for one week after being picked up.

We were extremely pleased with the work performed by Meyerland. We just moved to Houston and wanted to establish a relationship with a local vet. We also noticed one of our dogs may have some allergy problems. I dropped them off in the am for their exam. I was called by the vet herself, not a vet technician, to discuss possible allergy treatments. When we returned her call, she came directly to the phone, no waiting, no ''she'll call you back.'' Not only did she provide a solution to his allergy problem, but it was also apparent that she had done a thorough reading through the vet records we provided, asking questions about past treatment so that she could better understand each dog's needs. In addition, all employees with whom we had contact were very kind, courteous, and obviously loved animals as much as we do.

Everyone at Meyerland seems to understand that pets are family to many people. They were especially careful to make our first boarding experience with them as pain free for us ''parents'' as possible. One of my animals has a history of seizures. As a precaution, my animals were placed in a separate area, so that all the staff could keep an eye on her. It is part of their standard procedure. When I picked them up, it was obvious that the staff had gotten to know our animals and their little quirks. It was comforting to know they had taken the time with each of them. I won't be going anywhere else from now on.

I completely trust this group of veterinarians. They are thorough, and have proven themselves expert is diagnosing rare conditions on one of my animals. They are proactive and help me as an owner be a better caretaker for my animals. For my dog, they performed a delicate bone marrow test, as well as several blood test, some of which were only available at one lab in the country--they knew where to go to get the diagnosis we needed.

I have used this clinic for over thirty-five years, and have never had a problem with them. Upon returning, I found that my cats where well taken care of, as always. My cats were well fed, bathed, and clean in general. I didn't have to worry while I was out of town, as I know just what to expect from this clinic.
