I've been living in my home for seven years without using the fireplace, so I contacted Masters to get my chimney cleaned and checked for blockage. When I scheduled my appointment it was explained to me that  the total service would be around $100 for the inspection and $40 for the cleaning. Upon finishing the inspection, the technician informed my wife that our chimney was not up to code and thus would not be cleaned per Masters' company policy. An estimate for $1300 in repairs was provided to get the chimney up to code. Had this company policy been explained when I made the appointment, I would have used another company. As of now I've paid $100 for nothing more than an estimate of work.

It was brilliant, Eric was punctual and did an excellent job with everything. Provided excellent advice and was highly professional. The finished product exceeded both my husband's and my expectation. Highly recommend.

Chimney and Fireplace Inspections

What just happened? First off, when I made the appointment I stated that I had a high chimney (no problem), and that my cap had blown off and needed to be put back on (no problem). I said I wasn't sure it needed to be cleaned but I did have a 'smell' coming from there, prob due rain getting in (again, no problem). I was impressed by the helpfulness and was looking forward to getting the appointment done. The lad arrived on time, and appeared polite. I went over what I needed since he did not seem to know anything that I covered in the phone call. He looked up my chimney, and agreed there was a bad smell, probably due to the water coming in. Said it did not need to be cleaned and he would not be able to put the cap on since he had only brought the short ladder - WTH?! Then went on to say that I should just get my handy man to put that on - I don't have a handy man. Does this man even work for the same company that I called? He became surly and rude, and to boot, nothing I asked to be done got done because the ladder was too short and I don't have a handy man.
I can only hope that my very bad experience is not truly representative of the company's customer service, I suspect not because they would not be getting this many good reviews. But, I shall not be calling them again and will hope that their competition will be a lot more helpful.

The owner recently came out and we had a good time while he did the chimney sweeping. He even came early! He was very delightful and I enjoyed his service.

We were looking for a chimney sweep on Angie's List when I saw Master Services on Angie's Big Deal. When I called they scheduled us for the following day between 9:00 and 10:00. The service rep was here at 9:00 and was very professional and courteous. She knew her job well and left nothing to clean up after she had left. She had no trouble getting up on the roof to check the chimney. I would recomend this company to anyone looking for the above mentioned service.

Arrived on time, had samples for illustration, inspected chimney and recommended a full-cover cap (32" x 18") at same price I was quoted by other companies for a 13" x 13" cap. Asked him how much extra to paint chimney's peeling exterior - told me to name my price - which he accepted!
