"Most calls that we go out on are easily remedied. Unfortunately when that is not the case, it can be frustrating to a customer. Each home that we go into is different and the issues are handled accordingly. With that said, we understand that a customer might not want us to keep coming out without fixing it immediately; however, in this instance it was not a cut and dry case that we could solve immediately. When the technician assesses a situation, he will respond to what he encounters. The technician was called out for a horrible smell that was assumed to be rodents. When the technician went out, he did not smell decomposition, he smelled something else. Decomposition is a very specific smell that our technicians come into contact with. If he does not see or cannot find dead rodents, he can't remove anything. If he does not smell decomposition, there is nothing more to assess at that time. (Side note: The only time a technician would not be able to remove dead rodents is if they cannot find them because there is no access to them. i.e. in a wall) Since we did not hear from this customer directly, there are unanswered questions. If there was no decomposition smell, was there a plumbing issue since the plumber found the rodents? Plumbers will sometimes need access in walls, areas that we are not able to reach. Our technician do not have the tools nor do we offer any service where we would be opening walls. The technician was aware that the star caps were not sealed at this home. We do not comment on the work that a plumber does because we are not in that line of work. I would think that a plumber would not be as familiar with rodent exclusions as that is not his line of work. I completely understand how frustrating this would be to a customer; however, when we do not hear any feedback from them, we assume that the service is working until we hear otherwise. In this case, we would have sent the technician back out had we known that they encountered a new issue . Again, I understand that customers want their problems to go away immediately...we do too! The customer assumes that rodents were getting in when realistically they were probably in the home after it was sealed; furthermore, it seems like the rodents were in an area that was inaccessible to us."
