Ernesto Romero was the contact and communicator to help with the language difference.; Walter Avalos was the primary carpenter and painter. These two were special. We were coming from another city to oversee a number of repairs involving pest control, HVAC, House cleaning, and about six other house repair items that we would not see until we arrived at the house. But, we were on a short schedule, so we used HomeAdvisor to locate someone to do the work who would be ready when we got to Houston. Ernest responded, agreed to come to the house with Walter to see what needed to be done when we called him as we were approaching Houston. That worked fine. They arrived in the late afternoon and we went over our needs, which included figuring a way to retrieve a box 9 feet down in the attic in an tight opening next to the chimney that had some valuables wanted by the relative in another city. We also identified an exterior carpentry/painting job on a large window section that had numerous rotted wood cedar pieces, repair of an attic access stair the owner thought had to be replaced, sealing of an opening to a bath enclosure that seemed to allow spiders and other insect entries into the house, removal of an overweight toilet tissue holder that was damaging the sheet rock, and resurfacing the damaged area, and painting it to match. The thing we appreciated the most was their participation on deciding how best to do things, what was the best for us, etc. We established an agreed on price for their service of $650, the largest part being the removal of rotted wood, reconstruction of it, and painting of the cedar to match...and they stuck with it even though we had one or two small incidentals as we went along. It was reasonable price set in advance by their coming to view the home. They arrived as agreed on Tuesday morning and went to work. They were heroes because Ernesto went down into the void next to the chimney and retrieved the box of special items wanted by the owner, and they worked through the rest of their list...communicating well with us they went about their work. The work was finished in about three hours after they had gone to get their necessary supplies, paint, wood, and other materials. At one point, Ernesto was asked to help us communicate on the phone with another HomeAdvvisor pro who was coming to do a one-time-cleaning service. We were having trouble comprehending the phone conversation, and Ernesto served by speaking with the House Cleaning owner, conveying her information, answering questions for me, and arranging to change their time to benefit us, and to get that crew on the job as soon as Ernesto and Walter finished. Everywhere we turned, we felt they were looking out for our best interest, giving us good suggestions, and completing the work to our great satisfaction. This is a team we really appreciate, and would gladly use again if the need arises.
