Mark Corley of Laird Landscaping redesigned the landscape in the front yard to remove our overgrown landscape and replace it with a more appealing design. Some of the plants in the existing landscape had become so overgrown that few plants could grow in their shade giving the front a gloomy appearance. The design also added a more accessible entrance. Two large Holl trees framing the left set of windows and all other plants were removed, except a crape myrtle and 2 azaleas. This provided considerably more sunlight to the beds. The existing 3’ concrete walkway from the doorway to the driveway was removed and replaced with a curving 4’ walkway of pavers that was a little further from the house. The new design eliminated the step at the entrance of the house by bringing the pavers level with the concrete porch. It also put more space between the house and walkway allowing for additional plants in the landscape. The beds were improved and expanded with prepared soil mix brought in. The landscaping on the left side was bordered with Moss rock that is mortared in place. The irrigation system was modified for the expanded beds and plant placement. The moss rock and pavers are very complementary to the brick on the house. Mark chose a selection of plants that provided a variety of color and texture to the landscape. We are gardeners and capable of making changes on our own but it is very unlikely that we could have come up with a design this good. This was quite a transformation. We selected Laird Landscaping from Angies List reviews and are extremely pleased with the results. Our neighbors also monitored the progress and are impressed with the improved landscaping/hardscaping. Fernando’s crew was very prompt and gave attention to detail, especially on the paver work. Everything was cleaned up and secured at the end of each day. The final price was $600 higher than estimated due to an additional dump load and 1.5 days extra for truck and equipment. The job took 6.5 days total.

Professional in every way. From the initial visit through project completion, Laird folks were impressive - timely, creative, listening, thorough - everything you would want in a quality landscaping contractor. Presented unusual planting alternatives, arrived (and left) on schedule, came in below the quoted budget, accomodated mid-project changes with ease, cleaned up the premises nicely every day.

The guys were here on the day promised and finished the work within two days. They really listened and made adjustments based on changes in our needs since the first estimate. Vince is polite, professional and really has an eye for what will improve the look of the house. The cost was itemized before the work started and the changes made were priced or credited fairly. Cost included new plants, two small trees, removal of five trees, one stump ground down, and some new grass. Also tested our irrigation to be sure new grass would be watered well. The ONLY downside was getting a date pinned down for starting - Vince had it on his calendar but didn't give us a firm date until the Friday before. That maybe the way the business usually works. The important things are he got it done in less time than estimated (2 instead of 3 days), the place looks great, the cost was very reasonable, and he got it done before our move out date. So worth the time and money!

Mark Corley with Laird Landscaping designed the back yard landscape to only have grass in the areas that receive sufficient sunlight for the grass to grow. The planting beds were extended to the shady areas with shade tolerant plants. We received a couple of proposals and even though Laird Landscaping was not the lowest cost, we liked their design and they came highly recommended by a friend. The work scope included removing the existing beds, relocating plants that we wanted to keep. The existing sod was removed and new drains installed (with gutter down spouts tied in). The back yard was graded so the water would drain properly. River rock was placed next to the house and behind the garage. Stepping stones were placed from the patio to the side of the house. New planting beds were installed with mortared rock edging. New sod was installed and adjustments were made to the sprinkler system. Landscape lighting was added in the front of the house. Mark and his crew did a professional job; they have great work ethic. They always showed up on time and cleaned up the work area before they left at the end of each day. We are very happy with the end product and now have a back yard that we can enjoy and won't be a mud hole every time it rains.

Mark Corley, Laird's lead for this job, provided a proposed design and cost estimate to solve a serious drainage problem in the back yard. He was glad to incorporate my comments, resolved questions, and offered good suggestions. Mr. Laird himself marked the rough grade elevations to ensure the regraded yard would drain properly. Laird's crews were polite, worked efficiently, kept the jobsite cleaned up, and took care not to affect the neighbor's property. Laird also coordinated with us so an exterminator could get access to apply termite treatment after the rough grade was done.

The job required removing several dump truck loads of dirt then putting down new topsoil for grass and flower beds. Many undesirable plants were removed and existing plants that we kept were temporarily removed then replanted after grading was completed. The relocated plants were still in good health several months after being moved.

For changes due to owner requests or unexpected problems revealed during demolition and soil removal, Laird's people looked first for work arounds that did not add cost.

The finished product works great. Even in the recent heavy rains there was no standing water and we have far fewer mosquitos. The front and back yards looks great with the back yard now open and accessible for family and visitors to enjoy.

These folks were pricey, but fabulous.  They transformed my back yard from a big mess to a pleasure to look at.  The paver patio came out WAY beyond my expectations - a great job, majorly enhancing my aging pool.  The landscaping is also just wonderful.  They did new flower beds, did paver/borders around the beds, transplanted some established landscaping, and did a lot of potted landscaping. I love it, love it, love it.  Worth the money and worth waiting for.  Also, the Lairds are wonderful people (father and son) and very creative and knowledgeable.  I LOVE everything they did.

Mark and his team did a great job. Nothing irritates me more than a job done with minimal attention to detail, so it was with great satisfaction that I first viewed the work performed last year by Mark and his team. Not only did they do what was asked and they did it very well, with a level of precision I have yet to find with any other landscapers in the area, but they took initiative and fixed a few minor items that made my yard look that much better. As an example they removed some old tree anchors, which vastly improved the look of our front yard, and when they worked on the walk way of one side of the house they made sure to clean up the other side as well. I would highly recommend Mark to anyone out there. He is experienced and as a horticulturist he knows what plants to put in and how to make the yard look great.

They're doing major work for us. They're in the middle of the job. We're having painters at the house so they have to wait for the painters to finish before they can come back so they'll be back next week. It's a pause in the work.

I was very nervous about hiring an unfamiliar company for this landscaping job. I needed both architectural (design) help and installation. Laird's provided both and was very attentive and responsive to all of my concerns before, during and after completion. I run a small business myself and was extremely impressed by the entire crew's attention to detail. Not cheap but if you want to feel like you received top quality professional work and value your money will be well spent on laird's landscaping

Very well. Ottis, Trey and all of the crew were very professional. Always on time and stayed on schedule. Never left a messy worksite, and always tidied up - especially before weekends and holidays. Great attention to detail. Happily accommodated late changes/requests. Was great to work with such professionals with genuine pride in their work. Would certainly use again and have recommended to friends and neighbors.

Mark Corley responded to my request promptly and arranged a meeting the following afternoon. Mark was very pleasant and knowledgeable and discussed our desires and budget. He returned a professional design that met our desires and an excellent price. He provided copies for the HOA which approved. He asked for a one-third down payment which was very reasonable.
The crew was available about two weeks after the HOA approval. Mark and the crew showed up with all the plants and materials needed to complete the work. The crew was very diligent and obviously cared about the quality of their work.
Almost immediately we discovered that the person who had taken down the two Bradford Pears at the corners of the house had not ground the stumps down as agreed. One of the crew took an axe and shovels and removed the stumps by the end of the day. NO extra charge. The rest of the crew kept working on their tasks in a competent and complementary fashion. After they completed their work, they cleaned up completely and removed their sign. Leaving very pleased homeowners. Mark returned two days after completion to discuss the results and we paid the balance. Mark recommended an irrigation specialist to address the sprinkler system issues. That contractor came over promptly and did a very thorough evaluation and proposed a very reasonable price to repair that was far less than I expected. He arranged to return the end of the week (today).
A number of our neighbors have given very favorable comments on the changes.
We highly recommend Mark Corely and Laird Landscaping for your landscaping needs.

When the crew showed up on August 30 2012 they started working immediately and it was like that until the job was finished. It was so refreshing to see a company that was so concerned about the job being done the right way. The workers were on top of what needed to be done, and got it done with professionalism. They cleaned up after themselves very well. They installed the all the drainage pipes and catch basins first, and then started to grade the yard toward the catch basins so water will drain out of the yard like it is suppose to. After they graded the ground they proceeded to put new sod in the areas that were graded down and then they put crushed granite in the area that was around a huge oak tree that grass will not grow around. It was an awesome job that I cannot say enought good things about. They also had to remove some of my plants on the side of my house to do some grading and they put them back and re-mulched the flower bed. It was a terrific experience and I cannot thank Mr. Laird enough.

They had good design and they were able to tailor to our low maintenance requests or requirements. They were quick to get the job done because they have their own crew.
