Musical Instrument Repair, Piano Tuning
Another tuner told me to trash my 1900 former player piano, which was my great grandmother's. He said take it to the dump. That repairing it would be upwards of $6000. John Newton came out, took the thing apart, told me he'd fix it up and tune it for $780. He says over time I'll want to add a couple repairs, but that it can be done in a few rounds. He is lovingly, painstakingly repairing it. It is like watching a master artisan. Almost in tears, this is such a beautiful skill, he is so kind, and he knows the value of saving and not tossing because it isn't perfect sound. This piano has an amazing sound, it has old grand piano length strings, but it doesn't sound like the new pianos. It's why I love it. And love John Newton. He knows a lot of good stories, too.
