Their crew came out and did a great, safe job in timely fashion in spite of the tree being dead for some time, which greatly increased risk of branches falling while cutting. Nothing fell on the garage. All the "trash" was removed. Everything went great! Their price was definitely a plus, really helped our elderly mom! We'll definitely call on them again when we need work done on trees and would highly recommend their services to anyone! Thanks again! Brian

He came out, and cut the lower branches, but I would have preferred he cut the higher branches that hung over my house. He did trim the lower branches on the trees in my front yard and remove the limbs from my yard, but he didn't bring the equipment needed to trim the higher limbs over my house from my backyard tree.

They didn't pay close attention, so that they cut wrong branches.

Haggled on how much work he could do for the $200 deal. We probably got $250 to $300 worth of work for the $400 promised. What was done was done well, but not happy with his degree of integrity.

They did a nice job.  They were on time and professional, though it took some time to get them back out to actually do the trimming.  They said they would remove all the suckers and the dead wood from the trees and they did a great job on the suckers, leaviing enough to not stress the trees, but making them look a lot nicer, and they removed a lot of the dead wood.  There is still noticeable amount left, however, and that is after I requested they remove a few additional branches.  However, given the deal was half off, I would say I still got more than what I payed for.

My feedback on Angie?s Big Deal - Houston Tree Removal Service
I contacted Joshua through the Angie's List website. I wrote that I wanted to talk with him prior to him coming to my home. Instead, I received a call from him one Friday morning. He said he was in the area, so wanted to get started on the job. I try to be flexible, so told him to come on over.
My big question for him (or anybody doing such work) was "How does a consumer know how much $400 worth of tree service is?" I know how much an oil change costs; I've had that done many times. I know how much it costs to have my lawn cared for. I know how much a tank of gas costs. But I have no idea how much $400 of tree service is. It seemed like a fair question.
What Joshua said is that what I wanted would cost $100 more than what I had already paid through Angie's List. Of course. I should have known.
As I was already in for $200, I agreed to pay him another $100. He said he would take care of all the dead & broken branches and the branches of my neighbor's tree that were hanging over the fence and dropping debris into my back yard. I went back inside the house and could hear the chain saw running for a while. I think Joshua and his helper were finished in less than 2 hours. I thought $300 was a bit steep for two hours of work, but I'd done some research on the Internet before buying the deal and knew that for me to do the job safely myself, I'd have to purchase at least $200 of equipment that I might never need again. The better option seemed to be to have someone else do it.
Days later, when going to get my mail, I looked up into the trees and saw dead branches. Joshua was supposed to have removed all the dead branches. I emailed him, asking him to come back and finish the job. I didn't hear back from him. I then emailed him again, writing "I need to hear back from you soon, or I'll assume you don't intend to complete the job." I heard from him the next day. He said the earliest he could return was the following Monday morning. That was fine with me.
Joshua showed up just as he said he would. As I was working from home, I just pointed out some of the dead branches and left him to finish things. Later that day, I checked the trees and saw that they had removed most of the dead branches . . . certainly all the large ones. I can take care of the rest myself. I was surprised and disappointed by how much debris was left in the yard for me to clean up both times he was there.
That pretty much sums things up.
Response from Houston Tree Removal Service
"We appreciate your business. These reviews are important to angies list customers. Its a shame when the customers who have used my service put inaccurate reviews. Everyone is able to have there own opinion. The thing that I guess we will need to get used to is, most customers have little idea what tree service cost. It is especially hard for us when we do over and beyond the value and still receive a "C" rating. To clarify, we trimmed 4 trees for you. One of the trees we nearly cut half the tree off for you of your neighbor's tree. My climber had to climb close to 40' into the tree. The dead limbs u are refering to us leaving if any, were smaller than a pencil. We really cant climb around 3 medium size pine trees with hand pruning shears and trim off every little dead mini branch. Both times we came to your house, I told you when we were finished and you said it looked good after looking at the work. We always go over and beyond, its just unfortunate when it isnt appreciated. Either way, we appreciate the work. I think the fact that we came back a second time to take care of things we never originally agreed to, speaks volumes about my integrity and company."

Originally we scheduled the service to be performed on Friday, April 25 and we called that morning to verify the time of arrival and were told, he didn't know we were on the schedule for that day and was out of town.  We rescheduled for Friday, May 2 and called on Thursday, May 1 to confirm the time and were told between 11 and 11:30 am.  They showed up at 11:30 and we showed them the trees that needed to be trimmed and informed them of what we were wanting.  At 12:18 pm, they came to the front door and informed us that they were "done" and left.  We went to the back yard to take a look and we discovered that they had only completed part of the tree trimming that we had asked to be done.  The part that they did complete was done to our satisfaction.  We do not feel that we received our money's worth when they were only on the property for 45 minutes.  There were several more trees that needed the limbs trimmed and this was not done.

They weren't careful of my other plants and just let the palm branches fall on them.  They damaged 1/2 my other landscaping in the backyard.
Response from Houston Tree Removal Service
"I explained to you before we started that we would do our best not to damage your newly placed plants, but they will probably receive some damage. I even offered you a refund before we started the work. You knew we were scheduled to comeon the day we came but decided to plant new plants the weekend before. Right underneath 30' tall palms that needed heavy trimming. "D" rating is dishonest. Once again we go over and beyond and get a bad rating. Majority of my ratings are A+."

It went great.  We have two large live oaks in our front yard that we've neglected to trim professionally for several years, leaving the storms to cull the dead branches for us.  Both needed attention with suckers and dead branches needing removal, but these guys thinned out the canopy appropriately, moving the growth from our rooftop and generally creating a healthier tree that's better able to get sunlight where needed.  Our lawn has improved already and just the general appearance of the trees is much more aesthetically pleasing.   They were prompt and worked efficiently plus we'd never have known they were here they cleaned up the debris so well.  Very pleased with the service and this provider!

We were very pleased with Joshua's service. He promptly responded to our Angie's List purchase to schedule his appointment and came prepared to do the work. There was no haggling over the coupon price. We discussed the trims we wanted; Joshua seems to know trees and pointed out where a requested trim would harm the tree and suggested an alternative approach. He and his assistant set to work, with Joshua doing the trims himself while the assistant gathered debris. They were efficient, well equipped and remarkably fast (we've had tree crews out here for hours who didn't accomplish as much) and cleaned up as they went. When they were finished, the trees looked great, including our younger curbside trees, which are not especially well formed trees: Joshua brought them to some order. The yard was clear of debris--I worked in it the next day and did not find a single stray branch. I have already recommended this company to a friend and would definitely have them return.

Throughout the entire process, it was a pleasure to work with Houston Tree Removal Service.  Josh came out on Saturday to look at the trees and provide a quote.  The work was scheduled for the next Thursday.  Houston Tree Removal Service did an excellent job of trimming the trees, and cleaned up and hauled away all debris.  They were prompt, professional, and courteous.  Highly recommended.

After purchasing the Big Deal for tree service, I scheduled three possible dates for getting the tree fertilizing and trimming done. Josh from Houston Tree Removal called at 8:00 am on April 1st and said he had an opening that very day around noon. Timing was great for me and I scheduled the appointment. Josh and his helper showed up right at the appointed time and started working. They were equipped with all of the right tools and efficiently performed all of the work. Josh and his helper were both professional and courteous. After finishing the work, they carried all of the branches and limbs to their disposal container. They cleaned up after themselves right down to the very last twig. Josh is truly a professional who puts customer satisfaction at the top of his list. I will not hesitate to call him for any tree work I might have in the future.

He did a good job. He was here on time and he was very professional. He was very prompt in coming out on a Saturday and giving me an estimate. His price was a little high but at least he picked it all up, and he did everything I asked. I would recommend him or use him again.

I did feel like the price was a little high, but with that said, I don't have a lot of experience with this type of service.
Response from Houston Tree Removal Service
"We are very thankful for your review and recommendation to other customers searching for a great tree service company. These reviews are extremely important to our business and consumers. It is unfortunate that you felt the price was a little high and didn't mention this to me when we came to perform the work at your house. You told me we beat the lowest bid by $100. Your tree also required that we climb a two story roof to complete the job. We really enjoyed working for you and look forward working together in the future."

Josh replied to my email inquiry very quickly, called and came by the house the next day, provided an estimate that was in line with what I expected the service to be considering the number of trees that needed to be trimmed and then said he could do the work the next day. He gave me an estimated time of arrival before he left.  He showed up with a helper when he said he would, trimmed the trees and cleared away all the trimmings - and even cleared the roof of old pine needles, which we had not discussed.

My trees and yard look great.  The HOA may finally stop sending me letters about my tree over growth!

Josh clearly has a great work ethic, keeps his word and is reasonably priced.  If I ever need tree service again his company is the one I will be calling.
