The plan on this job was to protect the pool from collecting debris with a plastic tarp. In the demolition process, the crew damaged several coping bricks. The framing, rebar, concrete pour and stamping went otherwise OK. They were late removing the tarp due to needing to work on the brick, and it later rained, covering the tarp with water. Joe offered to cover the coping brick damage, sending a guy at the end of other jobs to chip the broken bricks out over the course of the coming week. He damaged a finish tile. Also, the number of “damaged” bricks seemed to increase as we went along. We were not able to remove the tarp when anticipated due to the additional coping demo, and it stayed on over the rains leading up to the 4th of July weekend. Joe's original plan was to clear any water from the surface of the tarp with a submersible pump, removing the debris along with the tarp. This did not work due to the amount of water that had collected. He cut the tarp to remove it, with the debris falling in the pool. After a few days of brick chipping, I started asking for a new schedule. Joe told me to call the office. I asked this question repeatedly, sharing my frustration with the way the job was going. She eventually told me to talk to Joe when he arrived with the crew on July 9. When he appeared on the 9th, he went back to check on his guy and quickly went back to his truck. I flagged him down to give him a spare finish tile and ask my scheduling question. He drove away while I was talking, indicating that he had to get to another job. I waited for a while, then called the office to complain about being disrespected and still not having a schedule. I was angry on this call, but did not yell or use profanity. Joe returned to my home later that morning. I opened the door when I saw him. He came at me with balled up fists calling me names and threatening to beat me. He felt I had been inappropriate with the “seventy year old woman” who answers the phone at the office. He threatened to beat me again, called me some more names, and walked of the job. I have a recording of most of this interaction from my Ring doorbell camera. This was an $8000.00 job. I have paid everything save $650.00 that was due at the end. I will likely incur expenses that exceed this amount in having the work completed, if I can get a contractor to finish the job. Additionally, my pool service company indicates that they will charge $1500 to clean the construction debris and another $1500 to restart the pool. There will be additional expense in replacing the water to be drained in the cleaning process. So if you don't mind a contractor that bullies his way out of a job with threats of physical violence when things go south, Houston Solid Concrete is for you. Otherwise, steer clear. They only get 1 start because 0 is not an option.

We needed our 30-year old driveway replaced. Houston Solid Concrete responded quickly to a request for quote and answered our questions. Communication was very easy; we mostly used text and phone calls. I was always talking to someone easy to understand. They were very clear about when the work would start and how long it would take. The job started on-time, and the work was excellent. They removed our existing driveway with precision. Sections of concrete next to the driveway were not harmed. The new concrete is solid and looks great. Many of our neighbors have commented that it was a very professional job. Highly recommend. Poor workmanship. Sections of the sidewalk have large discolored and uneven marks. I suspect they did not have enough experience or people to properly execute the picture frame style I had requested. One side looked better than the other, hence the person on one side had more experience (foreman)...the worker kept pouring water on the seams and caused them to bubble up -- the concrete dried with bubbles in it instead of an indentation for a frame style. They told me they would come the next day with a wire brush and fix it. The workers (who did not speak English and could not communicate with me) came the next day and seemed to have no idea what they were supposed to do. The office person said that I owe them $100. I will be more than happy to pay the $100 when they fix the job. I am going to have to pay someone to put pattern concrete or some other overlay over it to fix it. The sidewalk is an embarrassment. I wanted to re-do my driveway also, but this mess has made me reconsider and has been a bitter disappointment.

Went excellently. Team was awesome! Ms. Connie was pleasant and welcoming, answered all questions. Joey (supervisor of job) was friendly along with the workers. They had the best price of 3 quotes I received. The more you have done, the more you save. I wish I was in position to concrete a few more areas. They completed the job in two days and cleaned up EVERYTHING, even the tree they had to remove from my yard. Would definitely recommend and use for future jobs! Gave a B in punctuality only because they were about an hour late in coming and starting the job from when they said, but it wasn’t a big deal since we were home.

I spoke to someone on Friday morning and scheduled a time for him to come out on Sunday. He said he may not be able to come out, but he'd call us by noon on Sunday. We never received a call, so began driving back to Houston from Fort Worth for our appointment. He never called or came by the house. He did have someone else call on Monday for a Tuesday appointment, but I elected not to move forward.

I needed this sidewalk completed within ten days or so, because of a scheduled landscaping project. Ms. Lednum was so responsive and professional in arranging the work, and the price was very competitive. I am very satisfied with the finished product, and hope to use them again in the near future. The workers were punctual, polite, hard working, and very neat. Definitely ? ? ? ? ?

HSC gave me a very competitive bid. They were on time to start the project and stayed on schedule. They made no mess and left everything looking brand new. They did a great job and I would use them again.

I looked at several contractors before choosing Houston Solid Concrete. The prices of all bids were within a relative range. But the thickness of the concrete driveway entry and the thickness of the re-bar persuaded me to use HSC. The work was started and completed timely and the finished product looks great. The office was easy to work with and the crew was willing to transplant a scrub for me. They didn't have to but it was nice that they did it willingly.

Everything went very well. On time and done on schedule.

HSC quoted the best price of the three companies we talked to, and could start sooner than the next competitor. They came out, looked at the project, and returned four days later with crew and everything they needed. The old patio wss taken out, forms put in place, rebar installed, concrete poured. They were professional, fast, efficient, and could always be reached. Forms were removed, area cleaned up, top soil backfilled where the forms had been. The new patio looks great and we couldn't be happier.

I am a real estate broker and have been dealing with contractors for the past 12 years. I have to say my experience with Houston Solid Concrete (Joey) was very professional, customer service was great, and I would highly recommend him for anyone needing concrete work. Very personable, he was very fair with his price, and his crew were on time and they got the job done in a very timely manner. Impressed to say the least and would def give these guys a shot.
