Houston Heights Helpers

Run, don't walk to call Houston Heights Helpers to undertake assignments from "handyman" projects to remodeling to landscaping. They are professional, courteous, on-time, efficient and ethical. We consumers are typically at the mercy of contractors. That is not the case with HHH. From start to finish and every step of the way, I knew I could rely on these gentlemen to fulfill their obligations. I had no problem leaving them to their work without my presence. I did not realize working with a contractor could be a pleasant experience! I am already going to use their services again since they passed the "test" with flying colors.

Everything performed well. Ceiling paint could have used another coat but I didn’t ask. Scheduling and payment online were super easy and convenient.

Took a little while due to technician's medical issues, but overall well

They were timely, professional and very neat.  

I really can't say enough good things about this company. They are very conscientious and work really hard to make you happy. We actually have had multiple jobs done by them. The whole house exterior paint was the most recent. HHH worked extremely hard to prepare our house for the paint, cleaning it multiple times to ensure that it was ready for the paint. They worked with us to understand the colors and paint that we wanted and how we wanted it applied. In addition, this job spanned several days and we found HHH to be very trustworthy and reliable. We had no issue with them being in and around the house when we weren't around, even though we have multiple pets. HHH strived to do exactly what we wanted and get it done in the time and budget that we had allocated. Their web service is very efficient as well, allowing you to pay online. In addition to the house painting, we have had them do roof repairs, and a complete remodel of our master bedroom. They are timely and communicate well, calling you back promptly and telling you what you need to know. I highly recommend them for virtually any service that you need done on your house.

While the scope of this work was not major, it was a highly customized job.  We purchased all materials ourselves (tile, bathroom hardware, marble slab, glass shower doors, etc) so the costs that HHH was responsible for was labor and construction materials only.  I believe our job was more than they would usually take on, and we are more meticulous on quality of finish work than the average person.  With materials included this was about a $40k renovation, while HHH's scope was closer to $20k. 
The most positive aspect of HHH was the cost; their bid was by far the lowest of several I received, so was very pleased there. 
The worst aspect of HHH was subcontractor management and quality of finish work.  Their quality of work on electrical, plumbing, hardwood floor refinishing and tile was great - no complaints.  The quality of work on drywall texturing and painting was not good. We had to point out problems several times which they would have just let go. However, for the work they had to redo they  completed it without any additional cost but sometimes it took them a while to complete it.  The biggest problem was the shower pan did not have enough slope and all the tile had to be taken out in order to correct it.
HHH subcontracts almost everything, you should expect to closely watch the quality of the job. Also they are not strong project managers so there were lots of delays due to miscommunication between different subcontractors.  
Overall, if you are looking for lower cost, don't mind it taking longer to be complete and don't mind watching out for quality issues yourself, they are a great company to use.  We are busy professionals and didn't always have time to waste, so we will not be using them again for similar work.

Professional crew and provides excellent service. They don't try to up-sell you and if there's a cheaper/easier option, they will advise you accordingly (for example - I thought I would have to replace my front and back door, but they offered a simpler solution to seal them tightly). They come during the time they specify and they leave the work area spotless afterwards. They have a good billing system in place to track proposals, quotes, and payment - so everything is streamlined and makes recordkeeping a breeze.

Basically, I call Height Helpers anytime that my rental units need work.  First and foremost, they answer the phone, or call back in a reasonable amount of time.  The bottom line is I know when my tenants call, I can respond within 48 hours.  This is very critical to me.  Heights Helpers has never been the cheapest, but I will pay more to get good service and to not have to worry about who is going in my rental properties.  I also like that I get a line item price from them.  I really hate it when I get an estimate and it is just all summed up at the bottom.  As a rental property owner, I want to know how much each item costs so that I can pick and choose based on priority.  Overall, I have had them do everything from electrical plugs, landscaping, yard maintenance, roof repair, doors/windows, painting, you name it they have taken care of it for me.
