Mark was fantastic to work with and we will not hesitate to call him again on any other projects. He was very responsive, planned his work well and we could not have been happier with how up to date he kept us during the whole project. He finished within the schedule that he set and his crew did a great job of being courteous to our neighbors even though they had to work in close proximity to other townhomes in our neighborhood. We were highly impressed with how well his job was managed and how they cleaned up while they were working. The end product was better than we hoped for and we could not be happier.

Mr. Reyna informed me at 8:50 AM this morning that he was "passing" on my work and not going to make our 9:00 AM appointment at my home to finalize the PO. He gave no reason. I stayed home from work this morning to meet with him. As evidence of my seriousness, I had submitted paperwork to our homeowners association last Friday that included his bid.
He seemed excited about the job on first visit. His estimate was returned very quickly and I was happy with his thoughts and plans. I responded to his estimate with several confirmation statements because his estimate included TWENTY-SEVEN (27) exceptions!
That's when his tone changed. I included a picture from his own website of the driveway we discussed at the first meeting. He had repeatedly told me to "look at his website" to see his work and what he's talking about. The three pictures and the associated questions said "Please confirm that the finished work will look like this." He called me immediately to say that he was NOT quoting that driveway but a lower spec version and there would be an upcharge that he would have to think about. I told him that we absolutely referred to that pic in the meeting and I was surprised, but that I wanted a new estimate.
Then he told me that he didn't like working with people who had experienced issues with other contractors. I asked which of my notes he had a problem with and he couldn't articulate one. I suspect that he did not want to work with me or with anyone who likes to have a written agreement in place. It may not be appropriate to share his pricing but I would be happy to share my notes to his estimate with the community should anyone think that I was being unreasonable.
I gave "PRICE" the rating of "N/A" because I have the feeling that we hadn't gotten to his final price yet.
"(removed member name), Thanks for letting us bid on your driveway project. When we do projects, we always do a detailed written agreement after the proposal has been agreed on by both parties. The agreement will explain the scope of work and the specifications to be used on the project. This allows for both parties to know what to expect and not to expect. We take a lot of pride in our work and install projects with quality specifications and installation methods. This can be verified from past clients and engineers we have worked with in the past. by: Mark Reyna Houston Hardscape, Inc."
