We were very pleased with the professionalism of the salesman who put the order in for us. He was courteous, punctual, knowledgeable about  various security components, and best of all, not high pressure.  

The technician who installed the system was also professional and knowledgeable about the unit he put in. I had a couple of questions about our existing unit that ADT could not explain (one example, the carbon monoxide detector triggering the alarm for no reason), and the HomeStar technician knew the answer to each question. When he was finished installing the panels, he thoroughly explained how to operate the system and gave us his phone number if we had any questions. He also gave us 24 hours to "play" with the unit to be familiar with it before starting the actual monitoring with Monitronics.

Went smoothly from the initial request for a quote through installation.  Tim and Jes were very accommodating with my schedule and total time spent arranging and installing was less than couple of hours in total.  Choose HomeStar Protection based on other reviews and I share in the positive experiences I found through my research.

They were able to minimize my costs by using existing sensors, and even included a new glass break sensor and several remote fobs. the installer was courteous and worked quickly. When I wanted to tweak the setup they responded very quickly and made the changes I wanted as a freebie.  The monitoring company they are with is very good and responsive and the smartphone apps have given me piece of mind for those rushing days when you aren't sure if you set the alarm...it can just be done remotely!  would not hesitate to use them again in my next house and plan to do just that!

My wife and I recently bought a new home in the Heights, and I was looking for a good security company to connect our equipment and monitor the alarm.  I had been using ADT for over 3 years, and I just wasn't happy with the level of service and the price I was paying for the features I was getting.  I thought there had to be a good alternative.
I searched around for a local security company that looked to have updated technology (mobile app, home automation, etc), competitive prices, and good reviews.  I found HomeStar Protection, and I called Tim about a week before we were set to close.  He said that he'd come over to do the consultation whenever we bought the house.
I called him the day we closed as we were driving to the new house, and he happened to have a window right then between appointments so he met me at the house within 20 minutes.  He quickly analyzed the setup and explained to me the equipment they'd use and how it would "takeover" the current system to use all the existing sensors and nodes.  He scheduled the installer to come out 2 days later and we signed up on the spot.
2 days later, Jess came out to install the new system.  He hooked it all up, configured, tested, and then gave me a thorough training on how to use the new system.  He also gave me his cell in case I had any questions.
Overall, I am VERY pleased with Homestar Protection.  The people (Tim and Jess), product (2 Gig equipment, Monitronics monitoring), price, and service all far exceeded my expectations.
I would definitely recommend HomeStar to anyone needing a good security company for their alarm system.

Jes and Tim exemplify how a business should operate.  Consummate professionals who return calls promptly, arrive on-time, care about the quality of their work and value their customers.  The sales process was low pressure and more informative than others I spoke to, there was no up-sell or buy now tactics.  I told Tim what I wanted to accomplish, he provided some feedback (that actually saved me money) and we agreed on the components.  
Jes arrived early and started the install.  All the wires runs were neat and professional, care was taken in placing the panels and junction box, everything was left cleaner than when he arrived.  I am very particular (OCD) about how things are installed in my home and it was nice to have someone who took the time to get it right.  
After installing and testing he went over how to use and configure the system with us.  The system is intuitive but walking us through all of the feature/functions for the panels and the what was available on the website/mobile devices was appreciated.  He left his personal contact number and invited us to call with any questions.  
They are on-par with component cost and slightly cheaper on the monthly monitoring but the real value is doing business with two individuals who know their business/product and excel at delivering responsive and quality service.  

They arrived on time and installed the system the same day as quote.

Tim and Jess were great. TIm answered all my questions about the services included and also about the existing equipment in my home. He made explained things thoroughly and answered any questions I had. Jess was great as well, he was able to sync up all the older equipment in my home to use with their technology and walked me through how the new system worked. The pricing was comparable to the bigger companies as well. Im glad i chose to give my business to a local company rather to one of the bigger companies. Cant go wrong with these guys!

I researched several alarm companies before settling on HomeStar. We had an existing wireless system, and I wanted to keep as many components as possible. HomeStar was able to install a new panel that works with all of the old components, is cellular based, and allows me to arm and disarm from my older smartphone. Tim and Jes were very flexible on the installation time and were done in a few hours. A question arose later and Tim answered very quickly. 
Tim and Jes were courteous and professional. The alarm system has worked flawlessly. Billing through the monitoring company has been without issue and is slightly cheaper than what we paid previously. 
I would definitely use HomeStar again.

They did great work. I almost went with Smith Thompson Security but am glad I went with Homestar because the system they installed is really nice and overall a good deal. The service was also way better than anything you'd ever get from a larger company. The two owners (who also do the sales and installation) are clearly highly motivated because the level of service is outstanding. They met me after work in the evening and Jes, who did the installation, stayed past 10:00 until everything was done and did a great job going over the features of my system. 
I moved into a house that had an older GE system monitored by ADT and Jes and Tim converted the system to work on a 2gig control panel and also installed a thermostat that works on the same system. I now can control everything on my computer and android phone and it works so much better than the traditional keypads. The best part is that the upfront costs and the monthly monitoring fee is hardly more than a budget monitoring service like Smith Thompson and this system is far superior than what they offer.

They sent one guy to do the work.  He was on time for the appointment and it was easy to schedule. The manager came both before and after the work. He followed up to ensure everything was working properly and made some adjustments.  Everything worked out well and the price was comparable to other companies in the area.

Tim and Jess were amazing.  Not only did they get everything done the same day as I called but they were on time, professional, walked me through everything so I understood exactly what I was getting.  Tim walked me through all the pricing and the systems that they could provide and Jess installed everything- they truly are a unique company that actually cares about their customers. They texted me a the next day to follow up and make sure everything was working, I have never had this level of service with any security company. I would recomend this Company to everyone, you wont be disappointed.
