Home Depot Review After getting prices from several contractors and consulting online reviews I chose Home Depot to carry out our kitchen upgrade, i.e. replacing laminate countertops with quartz ones, repairing under-sink cabinet, installing cabinet pull-out shelves & installing a new sink with faucet, water filter & instant hot water system. Because our daughter’s wedding & reception were going to happen in our home, they were given a 60-day deadline or if not possible, not to begin the upgrade until after the event. Home Depot contracted to get the job completed before the event. The process & final workmanship is acceptable but not great. We were told to empty kitchen cabinets but not warned about dust that would cover every item in the surrounding areas, so every fork, every plate… required washing. Several kitchen-less days later when the quartz counters arrived, there was confusion between workmen about who was responsible for installing windowsills vs. backsplash vs. trim... & when. Home Depot’s co-ordination of tasks was sub-optimal & communication with me was even worse. My repeated calls, voicemails & text messages were mostly ignored. Home Depot, employed for its expertise in construction management, failed in this regard. I was left feeling like I was an annoyance they wished would go away. The job was not completed before the family event. I do not recommend Home Depot’s contractors’ services.

Bought a high-end washer/dryer stacking duet and was told it would be in about two weeks and given a date. When I called them the day before the delivery date they said it would be the day after that date! OK! The day arrives and two characters from some delivery company shows up and claim they're there to deliver the set. Mind you, Home Depot, claims they would be and quot;professionallyand quot; installed! I look over the paperwork and it seems to be the right set and demand an inspection before they drag them into the house. OK!! Washer is dragged into garage and old one removed. Reading the paperwork/manual and when I look up the one character who does speak English is wiring the dryer plug. HMMMMM!! Drag dryer in, start to lift dryer onto washer. I intervene, ask why isn;t the washer being leveled and sited Before the dryer is stacked. English speaker says he'll do it after dryer is stacked! NO you won't says I, citing the install part of the manual just handed to me that states washer MUST BE LEVELED in ALL aspects before proceeding further for safety reasons and to avoid damage. Much grumbling and swearing, Don't care. Dryer stacked. English speaker plugs dryer in, WHY?, don't know! begins to get the metal dryer vent situated and then loud scorching sounds come from back of washer! Look back and where vent line has touched washer it has welded to it! WOW! Ask English speaker, Say, you sure you wired that plug the right way? Look of deer in headlights in Speakers eyes. HD calls, tell story, much consternation, dryer DOA. HD promises to send replacement in two=three weeks, maybe! Tell English speaker and hand gesture to other guy to get my old dryer back out of truck before they disappear! Tell them, never come back!! Moral: Selling stuff is good for business bottom line; outsourcing the delivery/setup phase to the obvious Low-bidder is NOT! Now I don't have my merchandise and I'm unhappy, the delivery company got an earful from me and they're unhappy, and HD gets to EAT a fried and expensive major appliance, don't know if they're unhappy but they don't really seem to care! END!

We had trouble with their warranty for a refrigerator we bought. Evidently, we were sold a bad refrigerator. It was the LG. I really liked it in the store. I said I had heard bad things about LG and they said, "Well, they did get a rough start but all their kinks have been worked out." Little did we know, that they sold us the first model of the refrigerator that did not have the kinks worked out. Then we were without a refrigerator for more than six months because they couldn't get the part. The part had to be made overseas. Then when they make it they'll ship it by boat. Well, the fact is they were never going to make the part because they were never going to make that model again. Eventually, they said we could buy a new fridge for our purchase price but they didn't pay the tax back. It was a little difficult trying to get a fluid refund because they wanted so much documented that we just said, "No, we can't do that." They wanted receipts for two weeks before the fridge went out. Well, how do you find that?

Cabinet Making
$2,900
Spoke to the representative at Home Depot - he sent an associate to take measurements - we returned a few days later and sat down to plan the kitchen. We settled on Mills Pride (a huge mistake). The order arrived about 2-3 weeks later and had been severly damaged during shipping. So we had to wait another few weeks for the replacement cabinets to arrive. In the end the designer added more doors than were actually needed costing us an upcharge of around $400. The two ladies that work in kitchen design - were very helpful in rectifying the problem. Eventually everything got sorted out - but the installation was severly delayed. On a final note: I do not recommend Mills Pride at all - the cabinets are of inferior quality and with installation the price ends being far higher than if I had purchased better quality cabinets (i.e. Kraftmaid).

Home Depot subcontracts good people to work for them. They do have a great selection of ceramic tile and had the tile I wanted in stock. They got the flooring done in a day and everything back in place. The tile looks great and everything is real solid. All the edges are a perfect fit. They did a great job of cleaning up and made sure to get my approval before they left.

THE LADY AT HOME DEPOT, WHO PLACED OUR ORDER, WAS NICE. THE GUY WHO CAME OUT TO MEASURE THE ROOM WAS PROMPT AND FRIENDLY. THE MEN GOT THE CARPET ALL DONE IN ABOUT 40 MINUTES, I COULDN'T BELIEVE THEY FINISHED SO QUICKLY.
