We had considerable issues with cold air leaking in the house from 4 doors that didn't close well, had gaps in the weatherstripping or weren't centered in their openings. Hoelscher sent someone out to diagnose the issues and prepare an estimate which was emailed to us. We accepted the estimate and scheduled the repairs which were done very skillfully by their very professional technician.
We would have given them an and quot;A+and quot;, but they did not come the day they were scheduled and did not call to let us know that they weren't going to make it.

This service went great. They company sent two technicians, one of whom has been with the company for about 19 years. They were in and out in about an hour and a half. The company previously re-weatherstripped 7 exterior doors for me in 1980.

Very slow from time of estimate to installation of all of the above. (Probably a month elapsed between the estimate and installation).
And in answer to and quot;would you use this provider againand quot;, I would like to answer and quot;maybeand quot; if I could not find anyone else to do it. I was required by your form to use yes or no!

Everything went well! The provider was on time (actually 30 minutes early) and remained focused on the task. My front door weatherstripping was in horrible condition! Bugs and small creatures often found themselves sliding in through the front door. Now the door is air tight and functions without and problem. The provider was great at explaining the problem, how to correct the problem, and asking if I would like to proceed with work. He was finished within 35 minutes!

Went well. I called for an estimate and they had someone call me the following day to set up an appt. the gentleman who came toy home was professional and punctual. I scheduled the work to be done a few days later. Another gentleman arrived at my home as scheduled and performed the work that I requested. No complaints, very professional

I made an appointment because our door was not properly aligned and there were gaps allowing outside air to come in. The rep showed up on time, looked at the door, and brought samples of new thresholds. A few days later, the installer came by, and installed the sweep, threshold, and brass weatherstripping. Everyone was professional and I am pleased with the result.

I called Hoelscher to have them come out to a rental house I own to give me an estimate to repair the front wood door which had a 2/3 oval glass inset loose and coming out of the door. They scheduled my appointment quickly (a 2 hour window a few days later) and were supposed to call me 30 minutes prior to coming so I could meet them at the site. They ended up not calling ahead of time, but my tenant was home and let them in. When I called the office at the end of the 2 hour window to see where their guy was, they were courteous and said they would figure it out for me. I received a return call saying that they had been to the site and repaired the door even though I never received an estimate nor authorized the work. I told them that I was concerned this happened and they were supposed to call me back the next morning to tell me the cost of the repair.
The next morning I received a call from a manager who apologized for their worker repairing the door without authorization and he told me that there would be no charge for the repair. Hoelscher went above and beyond in not charging me for this repair (which looks great) and fully accepted responsibility. It is hard to find a contractor that accepts responsibility nowadays. I would highly recommend using Hoelscher for wood door repairs and for the installation of new wood doors. I had called them to repair the door because I had hired them over 14 years ago to install the door in the first place.

My husband and I were initially referred to Hoelscher from a flooring company who told us that Hoelscher had the best prices and quality of doors in town. We went to their showroom to look at the craftsman doors and a salesman named Mark Seaman met with us. Mark took down our information and said that someone would be calling us in the next couple days to set up a time for them to come to measure. A week passed without a call. I therefore called the showroom and was sent to Mark's voicemail. As I was leaving my message, the voicemail cut off. I called back, giving the receptionist my name and number and asked her to have Mark call me. Another week passed. Almost ready to give up, I emailed Mark, explaining my previous attempts to contact him, and asked that he call me immediately. I even stated that I wanted to give him an opportunity to remedy the situation before I went on Angies List and reviewed the company (thinking that would get his attention). However, it was still another 2 days before I got a call from him. Mark told me that he had lost our paperwork but that he could get someone out to measure immediately. I decided to give them another chance.
A guy named Tim came out a day or two later to measure the door. Tim was great - really professional and knowledgable. He answered all of our questions and I really appreciated that he didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need. For instance, he told us he thought we could re-use our current jam, just install aand quot; tuff strikeand quot; into the jam, which would help with protection in the event of a break-in. He suggested we go back to the showroom to pick our our door and pick a stain color and the style of glass we wanted. After dealing with Tim, my faith in Hoelscher was restored, so we went into the showroom that same day. The showroom was empty but we were told that a salesman would come speak with us shortly. After walking around the showroom for 20 minutes (almost ready to leave) someone finally did come help us. We met with Roger Drum, who was very helpful. We picked out our door and Roger said that someone would contact us to set up the install date, but that we could likely get it installed the following week. However, 5-6 days passed and I hadn't heard from anyone so I finally called the office. I left a message and then got an email saying that the glass for the door had come in damaged, and that it would be another week to reorder the glass. Because we were trying to get the door installed by a certain date (before our home appraisal), I called to see if there was any way to get it installed earlier. The woman said that she would keep tabs on our order and as soon as the glass arrived, she would call us immediately to set up an earlier install date. Again, no word. Five days later, I emailed her to check up on the glass. I got a reply saying that she would check and get back to me ASAP. She then called my husband and set up a 2:00 pm installation for the folloiwng day. Almost immediately I got a separate call from her asking to change the appointment she had just made with my husband, for earlier in the day. She said that 2:00 pm was too late, because the install could take as many as 3-4 hours, and the installers didn't want to work that late into the day!
The next day, the installer came on time and really did a great job installing the door. He made sure that the threshhold was placed high enough so that the door cleared the rug in the entry way, which I really appreciated. When I mentioned the tuff strike, however, he said that it wasn't on his order and he didn't have one with him. We figured out that the tuff strike never made it onto his order form, despite my conversation with Tim about installing one. (Turns out their communication issues are internal as well as external!) The installer told us that we could always call back into the office and schedule the tuff strike install for a later date.
Long story short, the door is absolutely beautiful and for a solid wood maghoney door, it was just under $1000 - less expensive than many fiberglass craftsman doors at home depot or lowes, which don't look nearly as beautiful as the solid wood. Plus, we were able to get the tempered glass and stain just the way we wanted. The value and quality of the doors at Hoelscher's is therefore outstanding. The mesaurement and install guys are really great, too. The customer service in their office, however, really sucks.

When we first requested Hoelscher's services in January 2006, they were very professional and responded quickly with estimates. We called Hoelscher because they were highly recommended for their quality of products and service. But, the doors we had installed did not even last four years. And, the previous doors were the original doors installed when the home was built in 1978. In September, 2010, we called Hoelscher back to see what repairs could be done. Yes, Hoelscher came out to look at the doors and seemed surprised the doors were not lasting. Yes, we thought we were taking care of the doors as properly as would be expected. Even other home repair services have been surprised the doors are less than five years old. The refinishing door man said the quality of finish on the door was very poor. Since requesting another new door, Hoelscher has had to be prompted by me for information or updates. It has been more than six weeks since we started the efforts to repair our doors using Hoelscher. On October 20, in reply to my "what's up?" email, I was told the doors had been ordered and they were waiting. Now it is November 12 and I have sent another e-mail to Hoelscher asking for an update. Am I expecting too much from a service company?

I don't know what the gentleman's name was but he was so efficient, he was fast and he got the job done and he cleaned up what little mess he made. I would hire them again and I do know that the doors that this company makes are beautiful, they made one for my daughter's house, and she had a great experience with them. I would recommend this company to everyone.

The estimator took measurements and photos. A written estimate was sent to me and the only change I made was upgrading to the blinds within the doors. They were able to schedule installation within a week of my approving the estimate and gave me a choice of days and times. The installer called about an hour before his scheduled time to tell me he was in route. The job went fast, removing the old doors, tearing out all the old framing, cleaning up all the floor and sills so no debris was left under the new frame or door parts, and cleaning up when he left. This was not a ' door unit', but custom built framing on site so the doors would fit. There was a very slight mismatch of the old interior trim, but due more to the original builder not making anything plumb than what the installer did. I actually was surprised that the interior trim was removed and replaced and wasn't damaged. It is so nice to have doors that don't bind, and that fit.

Great! Donnie came out on time, looked at both doors, said it would be $95 per door and I said "do it!" He ripped out the old copper insulation and stapled in new copper. He then cleaned the door jam with alcohol before placing a foam type of insulation to supplement the copper. He also replaced copper insulation on the bottom of each door and most importantly, adjusted both doors. I did not realize the doors could be adjusted... meaning he moved the doors slightly (by adjusting how it was hinged) to close any gap between the door and frame. He also adjusted the dead bolt locks so we no longer have to firmly push on the door to lock it. Now we just close the doors, turn the key and the dead bolt engages; also there is no longer any drafts or light coming in the doors. Donnie did a nice job and I could tell he was experienced at what he was doing.

They did a great job. You can't find copper weather stripping in the store anymore, and they are about the only people who do this. They are responsive. They come when they say they will. Their prices were reasonable. They do a really nice job.
