I hired Ashley based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was far from positive. I am writing this only after letting Ashley know my concerns and asking her how to proceed. She gave me her responses, but did not offer to give me credit. I am writing this as I feel it is important that you are aware of her charges and to make sure you are in clear communication with Ashley. I hired Ashley to re-grout a bathroom floor, caulk around a bathtub, fix bathtub chips, change a bathtub stopper and fix a faucet. She charged me $802, which I paid in good faith, which was my error. At the end of the day, the only work she did was narrow down the grout color, caulk around the bathtub, fix a few paint chips on the bathtub and change the bathtub stopper. The largest item, grouting the tile floor was not even started. She charged me $282 for materials. I asked for the receipts, but she said didn’t have them and left the materials she purchased for my project. I looked up prices at Home Depot, and the cost is $138, which is significantly less than what she charged me. Her labor charge was $520 (8 hours). I was aware that her charges were $65/hour However, she failed to tell me that every trip counted as an hour, even though many were 15-20 minutes at my house (she lives 5-7 minutes away from me). I did the grout cleaning and she made a few trips to check if it was clean enough. This was after I had told her that we could not get an exact match/clean 10 year old grout. I understand some of the labor charges, but 8 hours is excessive.

The overall experience was wonderful. She had been recommended by a friend but did my own investigation into references before hiring her. She had great references. She made bids on what I asked her do. She did stay true to those bid numbers. I did end up asking her to do some additional repairs and she always gave me a price and then stayed to that price. She did do some additional things after we established a working relationship that she did not even charge me for. She is very professional and is a perfectionist in her work. In one case I gave her the wrong color of paint and she pointed it out and got the right color and repainted it. She was very neat and methodic in her work. Repairing the stairs became more complicated because the capenter bees had done so much internal damage to the wood on the stairs that weakend the wood internally. She stuck with it and made it right.I liked her work so much I asked her to repair and replace the electrical lights, switches and dimmers that did not work. I have also had her repair my gutters and do some plumbing.
She goes beyond the call of duty in making sure she does whatever she is paid to do beyon
