They are about the best around. They are specialists in everything that they do. We don't go to them unless it is kind of bad.
My concerns included my cat's having been on steroids for a year causing a huge weight gain, scratching at her ears and shaking her head, and losing hair on the top. My existing vet did not seem to be concerned about the weight gain.
The cause of both problems was determined on the first visit in March: an ear infection and mites, and a prescription regimen was set up that would hopefully cure both problems. At the end of the first month, the ear problem was much better and the mites were gone. At that point we switched ear meds: the cat wasn't happy about ear drops, but ultimately i think that the cure was worth the discomfort on both our parts (the medicator and the receiver of the meds)
Also tried a new cat food to assure that there were no food allergies contributing to the problem.
The veterinary staff was patient and understanding, and show a true love of animals, as well as understanding how relieving it is for the owner, after watching a beloved companion animal suffer, to think that perhaps there IS a way of solving this problem, returning the pet to good health. At the end of each visit, they provide a complete record of what was done during that visit and what needs to be done in the future.
I am extremely grateful for their work, and, if i knew another pet parent was at their wit's end with an animal problem, i would encourage them to get a referral and go to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists.
The drs are very caring. And the same dog just had oral surgery - the dental staff there is wonderful!
This place has it all!
I have used GCVS for several years. Very friendly staff, professional, knowledgeable, great service overall- in all areas.
