GroutSmith

I would recommend this company for grout cleaning, but not grout and tile repair. We purchased a home and GroutSmith came out and cleaned all the tile and grout. They also repaired some grout that had cracked where tile was moving. This was in late October. Starting in about February that grout started cracking and the tile started to move, but this time it was worse. We called GroutSmith to come back out and they were going to charge us $450 and insisted the movement was due to the house shifting. I do not disagree that on pier and beam house shift, but there is no way in that short period of time it caused all that damage. I would have been happy to pay a trip fee for them to fix their work, but not $450. They do not stand by their work and this is the reason for my review. Update: There is no issue with my subfloor as Julie indicated. The house is a new build. The tile is simply large tile in high foot traffic space. It needed additional adhesive than what the builders put in. Their work should last longer than a few months and not get worse once they leave. Thanks for blaming my home Julie. Take ownership for your company and work. Yikes!

Amazingly. He cleaned it by hand, without caustic chemicals, then sealed it to keep it clean.

They were spot on what they said they would do, and finished within the estimated timeline. We did have an issue with the seal not drying properly, but they came back out to take care of it. Very responsive and friendly. We would definitely recommend them, and are contemplating using them again for the rest of the tile in our home.

Overall it went well and the results were good. The grout was very dirty from years of use and the cleaning process did a surprisingly good job of getting most of the dirt out. The color tinted sealer then covered what remained.
They require that you use only an approved floor cleaner, either one they sell or a ph neutral one sold at Home Depot. No pine sol etc.
That's a bit of a nuisance.
The salesman is excellent and gives a test on your floor to see what it will come out like. The guys who come out for the work aren't the most personable and speak very little English making it impossible to ask questions. The job did come out well though.

They did an outstanding job and we are most pleased with the result. I'd used this company last year to clean and seal our grout in the kitchen and foyer area.  I was so very pleased with the job they did.  They were great about providing details as to how to keep the grout looking its best. I had gotten several quotes for the same service and was very surprised at the great differences in companies.  Groutsmith wasn't the least expensive, but they were the most responsive.  They were about in the middle of the quotes I got, so we gave them a shot.  I didn't even bother with getting quotes for the master bathroom.  I trust in the quality of work they do. I highly recommend them, without hesitation.  You won't be sorry.

Two fellows came on 11/24/13 and gave estimate; made appointment for 12/10/13 at 13:30.
Two new fellows came on 12/10/13 at 13:30.  They completed the tile repair and re-bonding.
The same two gentlemen came on 12/16/13 at 9:30 a.m. and complete the work.
Evidently these gentlemen subcontract for "The Groutsmith"  because I wrote the checks to "Sideways".  I wrote a check for $400 when they completed the work on 12/10/13; and another check for $430 when they completed the work on 12/16/13.
I had no difficulty communicating with the gentlemen.  They were very, very professional.
The contract has the following warranties:  The completed work shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship ast stated:  GROUTSMITH RESTORATION SEALER - 10 years labor and materials; STANDARD COLOR SEALER - 1 year labor and material (same for clear sealer); FLOOR REPAIRS - 1 year labor/manufacturers warranty on materials; REPAIRS - 1 year labor/manufacturers warranty on materials.  Where the tile square was completely loose, there was a crack in the cement foundation which appeared to be old and settled.  In the area where I live, during droughts, foundations often shift.  Since I had an automated landscape sprinkler system installed, I have not had a problem.  The gentlemen told me that they could not guarantee how long the bonding would last, but they thought it would be successful for several years.  (These gentlemen were originally from Turkey where they have lots of floor tiling and earthquakes, so I am going to trust them.)  I am very pleased with the appearance of their work.  As a retired teacher, I would give this company an excellent review based on the work performance of the men who worked on this project.
