On the 20th of November, prefab countertops were installed. Due to the edge I choose which was the complete full wrap ogee, there had to be 3 pieces cut and pieced together due to the sink being cat a cornered (is a word?) The sink countertop measured 79" long, with the kitchen sink cut out. Which means there is 24"of side countertop on each side of the sink. Where these pieces were put together took in water. The first gentleman(Vic) who came to see the issue said there was NO sealant. He said he had never seen anything like it. I asked him if my coffee pots being in these corners had anything to do with it. He said no. My husband watched the install and said he did not see any sealant applied. Tina at Craftmasters tells me I must of washed off the sealant. I am astonished- these are kitchen countertops, what do you mean ? Kitchens use a lot of water all day, every day. Crazy. Unsatisfied they sent another gentleman out here to evaluate the situation again. Same scenario, except he said that Formica is porous and that Lowe's should have informed us this. Lowe's install personnel did not know the meaning of the word. Lowe's called and asked several questions such as did I have a sprayer on my faucet, did I use a dish rack. They decided that since the damage first occurred where the coffee pots sit, the warranty would not be covered due to WATER. The labor warranty was to be good for a year. There is damage all down the seams from back to front of the countertops. I also have grout coming out where the countertop and backsplash meat even where there is no water usage, but don't feel like Craftmasters/Lowe's will back that either. Don't know haven't called yet....bad taste in my mouth. I would like to also state the countertop installer spoke VERY little English, and his helper none, so there was a communication barrier from the beginning. Lowe's has chosen to back the Installer, instead of the customer. Lowe's Store number #0097, Baytown, TX.
