Long story, but it ended with us having to hire a lawyer. The patio and coping got done (mediocre at best) 2 months later when he said it would take 2 weeks. The windows did not get replaced.

I met Mr. Salazar at a restaurant and noticed the sign on his vehicle for his business and approched him to bid our project.  He came to our home and seemed (claimed) to have ample experience in home remodeling projects.  We chose him and I was offput by a couple of issues from the beginning.  He did not have an formal agreement as such but used his proposal only and wanted me to sign it.  I suggested a written draft schedule with milestones for us to follow as well as a more detailed description of the work to be performed, which he agreed to.  Immediately he violated the draft schedule and asked for two advanced in the first week.  He claimed that he had brought more workers to bear on the poject and this was the reason.  His crew also did demolition on our entire house immediately, which was completely opposite to what he had promised my wife.  This left our house in an uninhabitable condition for most of the remainder of the project.

Throughout the project, I noticed his sub-contractors grumbling about not being paid in time or in full.  Mr. Salazar would often not show up to the site to give instructions to or to pay his subcontractors.  This caused many problems.  A few times, mistakes were made, some major, by sub-contractors because of a lack of instructions.  They also began not show up because they were not being paid.  Worst, my home felt like a hostile environment with disgruntled people working in it.  I even had to pay sub-contractors directly for them to continue working!

Most of my calls to Mr. Salazar were unsanswered and eventually when he did answer, he gave one excuse after another.  He went so far as to tell me he had been hospitalized with back problems.  In the end, Mr. Salazar even had the gall to ask for more money than was agreed to, "a bonus" he called it, in order to complete the project.  Even so, in the end he left a few, minor items uncompleted.  I had sub-contractors later contact me trying to collect on monies he owed them.  One went so far as to send me a lien letter.  The subcontractor backed down after I told him he had no legal right to do so and threatened to take legal action of my own.

Mr. Salazar said, initially, that the project would take 6-8 weeks to complete.  The project took over 3 months to complete or rather, almost complete.

The experience of dealing with this guy was a nightmare.  We trusted him with what, to us, was a very large project and a very large sum of money and he betrayed that trust.

He successfully replaced my roof, but did not use the agreed upon materials. After he got most of the money for the bathroom remodeling job up-front, I stopped hearing from him for a while. He didn't show up for appointments he had made. Finally, he showed up and begged me for most of the rest of the money, told a story about his disabled son, burst into tears in my living room, and promised to finish the job. I gave him all but the last $400. That was the last time I saw him - three months ago. I talked to him once on the phone. Now he does not responded to phone calls. I estimate the remaining work at about $5,000.

I did not get good work and I paid a h*** of a price. I called and told him what the problem was. he said he would be out to fix it and I have not heard or seen from him since. They missed some cracks and holes outside. They also left some exposed walls on the caulking job.

Since there was more done on this project that what was originally discussed, I would had expected to pay more than the original estimate. I did not have to though. The contractor did not bill me extra. I thought that was great. I would use this company again.
