Bad capacitor on blower. Bad circuit board on blower. Bad blower. Electrical failure to the blower system.
Temperatures were in the 90s. We went out and bought a small window unit so we could sleep that night in one room. First thing Monday morning, I began calling AC repair services. The first two said that there were a lot of failures that weekend and could not get to it until TUESDAY! I got Central City Air and explained my situation, and they said they would try their best to schedule me in that same day.
Scheduled me for 4PM and arrived promptly. Ian (the technician) actually listened to what I had done troubleshooting-wise and didn't try to re-do all my steps. I found that refreshing, because often I find myself frustrated when a technician ignores what I'm telling them and does the exact same diagnostic steps I just told them I did.
He went straight to the blower unit, diagnosed the circuit board as bad, and happened to have it in the truck. WINNING!
Then he took some time to check out the rest of the system, including checking the amps drawn by the outdoor unit. Ended up replacing a capacitor there that was showing symptoms of degrading.
Overall, very professional. Very knowledgeable. Prompt. Fast, and reasonably priced. I am very happy.
I have used Central City for almost 20 years and they are superb at design, installation and maintaining the A/C units. David Debian the founder of Central City always said it is not the heat it is the humidity! He designed his own evaporator coils and we have them in our house now. They truly know their business and don't just sell you something you don't need. Brian Dietzman heads up their design and does a remarkable job! Can't say enough about them!
"We appreciate our customer’s kind words and strive to deliver “Consistent Quality Service” with the best technical and design expertise available."
We've used Central for the system install 15 years ago and they have serviced it since. We will not use for our new system because of pricing ,but they are very capable.
"We appreciate our customer’s ratings and hope when the time comes that we have the opportunity together to look at value pricing without sacrificing. Our founder David Debien always encouraged comparison shopping and believed in quality no matter what. We understand the challenge of investment but believe in the value we provide. We also believe in working with each of our customer’s situations in hopes of enabling us to work for them, giving a healthy home solution, while still maintaining the viability of our business. Even if we can’t find a way to work together, we value our customers as individuals and do all we can to honor the loyalty our long-time customers have shown. We do find when we are compared item for item with other companies we are charging less for our work and materials and will absolutely sit down with each customer to analyze the work being done and associated costs to demonstrate our work value."
"We respectfully disagree and are saddened. Here are the actual tickets and charges in our file. I am pleased that [removed member name] says “The work was done in a competent and timely fashion” once he made his decision 21 days later to have the un-repairable leaking evaporator coil replaced. • 5/20/13: Call for service downstairs air conditioner not cooling. Found leak inside the evaporator coil. System totally out of refrigerant and coil cannot be repaired. Customer elected to recharge in order to stay cool. Ticker #88728 9 pounds of R22 refrigerant $432 plus labor and trip charge or a total of $577.00 • 5/21/13: System Design Consultant visited Mr. Tedin for a quote for replacement of the leaking downstairs evaporator coil originally installed in 4/10/2000 for $1708.82. He was reminded that the leak was severe and should be replaced quickly. • 5/22/13: A Service Technician was sent to [removed member name] home as a courtesy to re-charge the system until he could decide if he wanted the coil replaced. • 6/8/13: [removed member name] called for service to recharge the downstairs system and for the upstairs system, which was not working. The upstairs system had a loose connection to the control board it was repaired. The downstairs system was recharged as requested with 6 pounds of refrigerant ($270.00). Ticket # 88911 total for repair and recharge $530.00 • 6-9-13: [removed member name] contacedt us again requesting that we add more refrigerant to the downstairs system. We informed Mr. Tedin that we cannot continue to add refrigerant to a system that leaked that much refrigerant into the atmosphere. We advised him to replace the evaporator coil ASAP. • 6/10/2013 [removed member name] agreed to proceed with the work as proposed on 5-21-13. He requested a credit on the refrigerant he used while he was thinking about it. The new coil was installed and in [removed member name] owns words “The work was done in a competent and timely fashion” and he was given the agreed upon $175 credit."
