Blinds and Shutters

I was in the market for plantation shutters but after Hurricane Harvey I found it impossible to get trustworthy contractors out to our house for a quote on the work we needed done. After quite a bit of research and multiple quotes I began to think that plantation shutters were not the way to go and way out of my budget. Luckily for me I stumbled upon a small local company right under my nose in Dickinson TX - Blind Designs & Shutters (also known as Blinds & Shutters) I contacted them for quote and Adam returned my call right away. During the initial quote Adam showed up on time, very neat and clean in appearance and provided suggestions. Very affordable price for real basswood, not plastic or composite. An added selling point: the shutters are made right here in Texas not overseas with only a 4 week wait, not 8 – 10 weeks like the other quotes. This is very important to me. After a short conversation I realized these were the guys for the job. We decided to give Adam and his crew a try because he impressed me with his attitude towards our job. Blind Designs and Shutters proved to be very predictable as they showed up every day according to schedule with the correct equipment, skill set and work ethic to complete our job on time. Adam promptly notified me on the status of our job and even worked around our busy work schedule when an out of town work trip popped up. The installer Edgar and his crew worked inside our home while I was at work and cleaned up the job flawlessly like nobody had been there. The installation of 9 shutters only took less than 30 minutes. I can’t find one thing I dislike about this job. No issues at all! Blind Designs & Shutters is made up of true professionals that work hard to get the job done with impressive attention to detail. These guys are the real deal, Five stars all the way!

They did excellent work. They were very responsive and prompt from the very first phone call. I was running behind on the appointment the delightful representative that was working with me told me that it was not a problem and was there when I got there. They are pleasant to work with especially since it is hard to find contractors that do what they say that they will. I have recommended them to many people I know and would definitely use them again.

The work was fantastic, they were very professional. They tell you the schedule, rain or shine they always come and honor their work. Adam one of the owner, super friendly and answered all our questions. This was the 2nd time I have used their services.

John C was great to work with. He gave me a fair estimate and accommodated my work schedule. Once I made a decision, he put in my order and my blinds were ready fast! I love how they look and the service I received.

Great service from start to finish.  The consultant John had a lot of options to choose from and helped us decide what would be the best for our windows.  It only took about 2 weeks for the blinds to be finished and they were installed the next day after they called to say they were ready.  The installer was very quick, installing 16 huge blinds in about an hour.

Great price relative to competition.
Installation was very smooth.  One problem with one shutter that took a little time to get addressed but in the end it was fixed.

Companies that do this work must be very busy because we had success in getting a call back only from Chris at Blinds and Shutters of Houston. He gave us a prompt date to come out to our house to give us options and arrive on time for that appointment. Chris was very easy to work with in understanding our desires and giving us 3 options with pricing. He had plenty of pictures and samples to give us a feel for how each of these would look and we made the decision to go with their top of the line. Chris indicated it would take about 6 weeks to build our units so we had an expectation for late September install. Since we had plans to be away for 2 weeks starting September 28, I called mid September for an update. Generally, the company was hard to make contact with and somewhat slow to get back with us. On this occasion, we learned that our shutters would not be ready until after we got back from our trip which was okay with us. When we returned October 13, I called the company and it was suggested the units would be ready for an October 31 install which was later than we expected but still okay. As that date approached, we didn't get any proactive communication on status or to confirm the date was good so my wife and I both started calling. When their voice mail said it was full and could take no messages, we started to get concerned. Thankfully, after texting the original sales phone number, Chris did call back on October 29 and confirmed we were a go to start at 10:00 AM on Oct 31st. From there on, we had smooth sailing. Charlie, the installer, called us Friday morning at 9:30 to let us know he would arrive in about 45 minutes and he met that timing. He worked very professionally in covering our floors and furniture, cutting the chair rails to fit the new casings, and installing everything. He was finished in about 2 1/2 hours with everything installed perfectly. The installation was spotless and he cleaned up well after finishing. We are thrilled with the results.
