American Knights Moving & Storage

I am disappointed. I inherited a midcentury modern couch and a Haywood Wakefield bedroom set from my parents, which is very special to me. It was their first furniture set, bought in 1956. I needed to move them from Louisiana to California. My sister recommended American Knights Moving (AKM). Unfortunately, I did not do much research. Their website said they were not a broker and owned a truck fleet. Their pictures on Google showed two men in AKM shirts carrying a mattress into an AKM truck via a ramp. If I had done the research, I would have discovered that AKM earned an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau. With a consumer alert because they require any negative reviews to be removed before they pay a claim. If I had done the research, I would have discovered that many claims, including deceptive business practices, had been filed with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration against AKM. The pickup went flawlessly. Four movers showed up, expertly wrapping and protecting the furniture. They then loaded it into an American Knights' truck without a hitch. The problem began at the delivery. The furniture had to be moved to the basement via a set of stairs with a 90-degree turn through an entryway with a ceiling height of only 6 feet 9 inches. By the way, the couch is almost 9 feet long, and the dresser, I would guess, weighs over 300 lbs. An 18-wheeler from a moving company other than AKM showed up for delivery. There was only one person in the truck, the driver. I asked him where his help was. He said he was alone. I could not believe that American Knights would send someone alone for delivery when four movers were sent for pickup. After some back-and-forth conversation about the delivery, I figured I did not have much choice. I gave him the money. He then opened the truck door. I could see that the dresser had no protection on. What had happened to all the blankets that were wrapped and taped nicely around it? I asked the driver about this. He said he had to unwrap the dresser and take the drawers out because it was too heavy to load by himself. The dresser had been damaged, scratched on top and one side. The damage was not caused by an accident while the mover was careful, but by negligence, moving it unprotected and leaving it unprotected. I said, "Don't they give you help?" He said that he has to do deliveries alone. He halfway wrapped the dresser back up, threw some folded packing blankets on the ground in front of the trailer door opening, and pushed the dresser to the edge. I said, "Hey, what are you doing?" It looked to me like he was preparing to drop the dresser onto the packing blankets, about a four-foot drop. Where is the ramp like in the pictures? I thought. He looked at me and said nothing. I said, "I'm not going to let you drop that thing down. You will destroy it." He said, "Don't worry, I got it." At that moment, I was in a panic. I felt as though the driver's only goal was to get the furniture down in the basement, no matter what its condition was in the end, if it was delivered as a pile of sticks, job done. I ran over to the truck, put my hand on the dresser, and said, "I will help you lower this thing." I did. I helped him move all the furniture, ensuring each piece stayed safe. I helped him move the couch, which was a struggle for the two of us. In the end, a piece of custom-cut glass for the night stand was missing, the dresser was damaged, and the dolly damaged one of the steps to the basement. I feel like I got baited with a white glove professional moving company, then switched to a one-man show. I asked for a partial refund of the delivery. They refused because the driver said he didn't need help, but AKM wrote the driver up because he should have had help. They offered me $100 for the steps and around $180 for the dresser. I have an estimate to repair the dresser for $1200 to $1400, and I will have to pay movers to bring it to the shop and back. I will not be using American Knights for that move.

I had a great experience with these guys. They were fast, professional, and showed up on time. Nothing is broken. Ever A. and his crew: Wadi, Crixon, and Arturo were wonderful. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends. Don't go through a broker for your move, contact them directly. They're an honest, hardworking group.

I was anxious and apprehensive, as I went through the process of trying to find a reputable moving company to move our belongings from Houston to Boston. After lots of googling and then numerous calls to potential companies, I called American Knights Moving and Storage. Almost immediately they made me feel at ease. Needless to say, moving accross country can be a stressful time. From my initial call, to my follow up calls, to the gentleman that came to our home to pack things up and remove our belongings and to the deliver of our belongings to Boston, in all honesty, it could not have gone any smoother. They did exactly what we agreed upon. They were all very professional and helpful. To the day, they arrived when they told me they would be over to pack up our belongings and our belongings were delivered in the agreed upon window time frame. All of our boxes and other personal belongings arrived in the same condition as they left. Not a single item was missing or broken. I could not not have been any happier. The entire staff was very professional, helpful, pleasant and their price was very competitive. I was skeptical when promised a flat rate for my move after an in-house estimate that was much less than I expected. But American Knights delivered on their promise. They came on time with 4 guys who loaded up, drove two hours to the new home and unloaded all in the same day. They were careful, professional and friendly. It was a great experience and I would definitely use them again. The in-home estimate was essential to making the process go smoothly.

Maria keep us updated on our move from beginning to end and responded quickly and courteously to our inquires. Francisco and his team were top notch. Francisco was the moving coordinator and carefully explained all aspects of packing. We were excited to see him and his team being the ones who delivered and unloaded our furnishings. Everything went very smoothly.

The job was done correctly and effectively.

We are having a terrible experience with this company. Short version - We were quoted a cost, told the cost would be 9k, jacked the price up 25% when picking up for THE SAME ITEMS, and failed to meet the 21 business day window. Long version - Prior to the company picking up the items, we were quoted $9k based on what was itemized. Issue #1 - When the movers came to pick the items up (Nov 14th) they stated the items were too big, and we needed to pay an additional $3k (25% more). These were the same things that were itemized and we do not own overly bulky furniture. Because we were moving the next day, we had no choice but to pay them more. Issue #2 - We were told we would receive our items within 21 business days. While this wasn’t ideal (sleeping on air mattresses, eating while sitting on the floor, etc.) we understood and agreed to the terms, thinking the 21 business days (30 total days including Thanksgiving) would be a worst case scenario. I reached out to American Knights (outsourced company) each week to find out the status. Between November 21st and December, I was repeatedly be told that the items are not on the truck yet but would be informed when they are. On December 13th, I was told they were putting our items on the truck and would call us when they are on the road. I informed them that they are cutting it close to the deadline and we need our items sooner than later. On December 14th, I contacted them as I hadn’t heard from them and they stated they were still putting our items on the truck, but would be leaving shortly. I reminded them that they are cutting it close in missing the deadline. They assured me that the delivery will be before the deadline and to expect it by Sunday (Dec 18th). Today, the driver contacted my wife and stated they would be there by Wednesday, December 21st. This would be the last day of the period and any delays would put them past the allotted period. Three hours later, they notified my wife that they now won’t get there until Friday, December 23rd, past the period. Issue 3 - Compensation. Since our family has been eating on a floor and sleeping on air mattresses while paying $12k and they missed the deadline, I expected a discount on the service. Here is what I was offered… $25 PER DAY! So not receding my items until at least 45 days from pickup and a bait and switch on the price equates to less than 1% of the purchase in compensation. There is no incentive for them to follow the contract.

Very badly!

I cannot put into words the horrible job they did-broke 30 items including solid wood furniture then tried to convince me to sign a non-disclosure document to take their cheap settlement $. They also said I could not apply for the insurance. Worst company ever.

American Knights Moving & Storage provided us with excellent service and we couldn't be happier. From start to finish, everyone was friendly, professional, and responsive. Our communication with Uri to coordinate the move was great. He responded to every email immediately and answered all of our many questions. Despite the fact that we had to change our moving date, everything went perfectly. American Knights certainly lives up to their excellent reputation, and they exceeded all of our expectations for this move. Jesus, the foreman, and his moving team were absolutely wonderful to work with. I wouldn’t consider using any other moving company but American Knights Moving in the future! I wish I could leave more than just five stars, because they deserve a full sky of stars! Thank you, American Knights, you are highly recommended!!!

Flawless! Last weekend we used American Knights Moving company to pack our old home and move to our new one. The service was efficient, kind, on time, AND THEY DID NOT BREAK ANYTHING!!! We recommend their service 100% and would use them again if we ever move (hopefully not, lol). One thing I would note is make sure you move your own liquids and plants. Good luck! Guy

Easiest move we've ever had- the office was super responsive and helpful in planning, they foudn a date to fit us in, and the foreman and movers were quick, efficient, and careful. Everything was in our new house before we knew it. Top notch service and value. We moved with them more than once, both times they were amazing.

American Knights Moving and Storage were very friendly and helpful with my cross country move! They arrived on time and handled my belongings with care and were very nice. All costs and procedures were thoroughly explained and there was great communication. My possessions arrived on time and a thorough inventory was taken and the movers put the items in the right rooms and assembled furniture with care. Great customer service and employees! American Knights Moving company was incredible! They were timely, professional, prepared, and so helpful with every bit of our move. They quickly and carefully loaded all of our belongings into their vehicle without any issues and unloaded them at our new address just as smoothly! I would recommend them to anyone I know and plan to use them for all of my moves going forward!

I needed to get my stuff moved from Florida to Colorado. They were great and easy to work with. Very professional and responsive.

They took care of every piece. Wrapped and secured everything with blanket and then wrapped 5 or 6 times over. Took extra caution when moving up the stairs, we had some extra stuff and they said, no worries. Even asked questions to make sure they get everything. Didn’t leave until they knew we were satisfied. A plus. Thank you for the extra safety and delivery. Even reassembled items.

I have recently moved and can say in all honesty that I have not experienced any trouble in getting to where I am now because of the removals team I chose. I experienced great care and professionalism from the team at American Knights Moving & Storage and never felt like they were unsure about moving my belongings to such a faraway place. The removals men took charge of all the loading and unloading and everything was done on my terms. It is definitely the best and most affordable removals service that I have ever used and would recommend them to anyone else who is moving, especially to those who are moving.

On-time, detailed, coordinated and very competent. The group was very organized and quickly moved to help protect everything even with difficult conditions. I have used American Knights Moving & Storage many times and will use again. This was my second transfer with them, and they did not disappointed. It was not an easy process to move from quote to move in and out of a tiny New York apartment with some big pieces of furniture. They wrapped everything and protected it, they are quick, effective, friendly and get the job done.

These guys are easy to work with. They called me before coming so I can be ready and well prepared. Came exactly on time and started packing all the stuff. They were very good in packing. Use extra sheets for fragile items. They showed great energy in working. Elevator was broken so they did the whole move by stairs. It was difficult but they did it.

They were very accommodating in our scheduled move. The work was done in a very careful and fast manner. The price was also the best. I highly recommend American Knights Moving and Storage.
