Called Tuesday at 8AM for repair on Kenmore stove that was having a problem with the oven not turning off. Technician was there at 9am same day as promised. Control board was bad, had to be sent out to be refurbished ( $ 350.00) as new ones are no longer available. Technician was polite, professional, knowledgeable, and provided me with detailed alternatives and let me decide if I wanted to repair current stove or consider purchasing a new stove. Since this is the only issue I have ever had with this stove and I really like the stove, I decided to repair the stove and the part was removed and will be sent out for refurbishing,. I was worried since this would take a week or two to get the part back and trying to figure out how I was going to cook in the interim. The Technician informed me that I would still be able to use the cooktop once the board was disconnected. . That was great !
Then I mentioned to him that the ice maker in the fridge has not worked for a long time. He had one on the truck and said he would replace it now for just the cost of the icemaker which was $ 100.00, he said they carry those because they are a common item that goes bad on fridges. So I had him replace the icemaker.
Then I mentioned to him I was having problem with Kenmore washer coming off balance, he check that out, discovered problem and ordered those parts, charging me only for the parts ( $150.00) also and will put them in when he comes back to put the board in the stove.
So for a total of $ 600.00 (plus tax) I have 3 appliances that now work correctly. I am one happy customer !!
I will definitely use this company for all of my appliance repairs and highly recommend them to anyone and everyone that is in need of a honest, respectable, reliable, courteous, professional company for appliance repairs. It was an absolute pleasure to do business with this company.
Our washer had developed a tendency to create a little puddle of water underneath after several washes. After we eliminated the hoses as a possible source, we called Allen's Appliance Repair to schedule someone to come out, diagnose the problem, and fix it. They scheduled a repairman to be at our house between 10:00am and 12:00N, and at 10:00am, Jeff Anderson called and said he was running just a bit late and would be at the house around 10:30am. He arrived on the dot, and immediately started getting the information he needed to find the source of the puddle. After testing the hoses again -- just in case -- and then tilting the washer to see if the bottom of the tub had a leak, he narrowed the search to a possible overflow or splash-over from the tub itself. He tested this theory several times and each time there was a tiny splash-over at the soap-cup, which led to a little drip down the inside of the tub housing. After cleaning the soap cup inside and out with denatured alcohol, he tested again, and it appears that the problem was a slightly blocked area where the water entered the soap cup, causing the water to splash over the drain onto the ring at the top of the tub. A few drops from each load would fall to the floor creating a small puddle. Watching Jeff work was like watching a CSI forensic scientist! It was a real pleasure. He would try something to resolve the problem, test it, and then move on to another possible solution. Finally, cleaning the openings and the soap-cup appears to have solved the problem, and he showed us how to raise the top of the washer (not just the lid) to clean the cup and the openings ourselves, and recommended we do it every few months to prevent buildup from the detergent. After he finished, he put the washer back in its proper place in the laundry room.
In addition to the painstaking attention he paid to getting a solution to our problem, Jeff was courteous and kind and not reluctant to answer the questions we put to him, which no doubt he gets at every home he enters. He answered them without making us feel stupid, which must have been almost as much a challenge as our washer problem. The entire process took just over an hour, and we feel the service charge was more than reasonable, judging by what Sears charged us for a much easier job the last time we used them. We will definitely call Allen's Appliance Repair again if we need large appliance repair, although, as I explained to Jeff, I really do hope I never see him again, except maybe at the supermarket.
