We feel this service was money not well spent.
This was a $69 big deal purchase. The inspection they did was fine. I did not take advantage of their further offer. They wanted me to sign a contract with them, which I did not do. There were extra costs because they put more Freon in than the offer said. I felt I was being pretty high pressured about the contract. They are high pressure people. I am sure he did exactly what his boss wanted him to do. The price that you got through Angie's List was their opportunity to get you to sign a contract with them so that was his prime objective. I don't really like high pressure salespeople. The prices were fair. I did not deal directly with the company.
"On October 9, 2015 Airflow AC and Heating, Inc. had [Member name removed] schedule for a $29 for a HVAC service call and $100.00 credit towards repairs, which she purchased through Angie's List. Upon arrival Service Tech asked [Member name removed] "Which system has the issue?" [Member name removed] response was "Not sure, can you just check both of them like a check up?" Service Tech response was "Yes". After performing a performance test on both units, a cost of $79.95 each unit which she was only charged for one, Tech determines that the 5 ton R-22 system was low by 3 lbs. 10 oz of refrigerant, which the refrigerant was inputed. The 4 ton 410A system temperatures and pressures were not correct and the inside temperature difference was a 10*-12* split. Service Tech evaluated both inside evaporator and determined 5 ton R-22 coil was leaking refrigerant and recommended a new evaporator coil and furnace due to age of equipment. On the 4 ton 410A system Service Tech recommended the homeowner get with the original installer to see if they would possibly assist her with servicing the system and coil because it's still under warranty through the Mfg. and if that Service Company doesn't want to help her then for her to contact us back for future service. Airflow deducted $100.00 from the service invoice, per the deal [Member name removed] purchased through Angie's List. We are sorry that [Member name removed] feels that the services rendered on this day were not to her satisfaction based on her review. [Member name removed] said the "other" A/C company said there's nothing wrong with her equipment, but however [Member name removed] didn't specify which of the systems were looked upon and serviced by the other company. We feel that this is just another blatant attempt to discredit one company to earn a customer. Once the ambient temperatures rise again in the next coming year [Member name removed] will realize that she is having a cooling issue and that Airflow was correct. Airflow is a accredited business with the BBB and hold a A+. We're not really sure why [Member name removed] purchased a "service call" coupon if she feels her system never had an issue? Just asking."
The next day I had the opportunity to validate pricing on the work requested. On the phone I was told that the price should be more in line with the $2000 dollar range.
The following day, I called Airflow to notify them that I am getting other written quotes for this work. Offer was made to drop the tax from the quote. I still felt that was too far apart. I had a second written quote for $2100, and called to cancel the scheduled service.
I was perfectly willing to pay the original service check and a restocking few on any parts that were purchased. Given the Goodman coil the tech was mentioning is less than $500 (based on research), expected cancellation would be $150 - $200. I was told it would be the full deposit to cancel. After several exchanged calls, I was told that they would match the written quote. At this point I did not feel comfortable doing business with the company.
