Issues began with the salesperson who wouldn't tell me about services that I'd discovered online. I had to keep telling him about additional features I wanted. He also tried to talk me out of some features, saying they were redundant when they weren't. For example, a window censor that sets off the alarm is not the same as glass break detection, which sets the alarm off if the window is broken. Since the installation at the beginning of March, ADT service and tech reps have been to my house 6 TIMES to make repairs. Some were to replace "lemon" items that just didn't work. Other issues remain unresolved and so I have MY 7TH SERVICE CALL scheduled for this week. There is no one person who is in charge of my account; therefore, every time I call with a continuing problem I have to start the story from the beginning. Once I insisted on speaking to a manager and the 3 people I spoke to all refused to transfer me to one. I had to call back the next day and finally spoke to someone in a supervisory capacity who helped resolve a few issues, but she didn't give me any direct contact info and told me to just call the 1-800 number for future issues. Another person she transferred me to did apologize for my trouble and gave me a $75.00 credit for my trouble. That was nice, but doesn't begin to address all of the issues with my system or compensate me for the time I have spent with ADT personnel, calling ADT, sitting around waiting for ADT repairmen to NOT fix the problems. I have not heard from the salesperson since the installation. ADT does not always call me when the alarm is set off. Basically, I feel hung out to dry and ADT clearly does not give a f**k. Also, they had me get a whole separate modem from my cable company at the additional cost of $104 PER MONTH, saying that was the solution to one problem. Guess what?!? It did not solve the problem.

They did not charge me the last time because I got angry. They charge $25 for coming out. It costs too much, and they do not have enough repairmen, so it took 2 and half months for them to come out. They need to have enough repairmen, and not tell you that they cannot send someone for 2 and half months. He was professional when he finally got here.  They tried to change my appointment without telling me.

We have used ADT for all our homes in different cities and for many years.  We started a new 3 yr contract Dec 2013 with ADT because I wanted a system upgrade.  In June 2014, we decided to buy a house that was in the process of being built with the intention of transferring our ADT service.  Our present house sold very quickly so that meant we would have to stop service ADT and re-establish once we moved to our completed house.  I called ADT and explained this - and was told that we had 90 days to reestablish service in our new house.  He was very encouraging, helpful, and reassuring. No problem, I thought, house would be done.  He even told me if it got close to the 90 days, just call back and everything would be taken care of.
31 days after we sold our house, I start getting calls from a collection agency.  Our account had been turned over to collections!!  We received a cancellation notice in the mail with no mention of anything like this.  I received a billing statement stating "No action needed".  What?????  I was shocked.  Who does this?
I called ADT and as of this moment, I have spoken to 3 different people.  All apologized for not being notified and for being told I had 90 days, but refusing to take it out of collections.  I paid the contract off immediately and would have done so the day I called had I been told this was what they were going to do.
My advice if you are reading this - be aware when signing a contract with these people.

I am not pleased with my interaction with this firm. I have had a hard time dealing with them with regards to the installation at my home. Apparently, ADT has a dealer network yet they can't tell me who my dealer was who installed my system that needs updating. When the Sales Representative from ADT did call me back, she stated my system was no longer supported and I'd have to purchase a new system for about 800.00. I told her that wasn't possible at the time and I never heard from her again. ADT also required a checking account debit to get my system back on line which I agreed to however, I see that they are continuing to draws funds out of my account.I am frustrated with this firm as I feel just like a number. Obviously they make their money from their monitoring service and I feel have little or no regard for my system or needs. This is less of a complaint and more about how I feel after working with this firm.

A security alarm was previously set up in a house  that I own with ADT for my mother who passed away 4 months ago. Alarm was shut-off a month after she passed away. The alarm had a trouble light and was periodically beeping and the door had been re-programmed by ADT to go off immediately with no delay after alarm was set, so we could not leave the house after setting alarm without a remote.  I requested them to do a service call to fix the trouble light and beeping and reprogram the door but they refused to service it for any amount of money unless I signed up for a 3 year contract, even though I had been a recent customer.

I had an alarm system years ago and discontinued it because I think they wanted to charge me when we were going to digital and I told them that I wasn't going to do it. After I had the renovation work done to my home I decided to get my alarm system redone and have them come and check it out to make sure all of the sensors work. Someone knocked on my door one night and I go to it and he's holding an ADT sign and I didn't have to call anybody. He comes in and tells me about the contract and signed me up and had somebody call me. They came out and checked all of the equipment and stuff and I'm very happy with them. I don't have any problems whatsoever. It doesn't goes off randomly like it used to and they're fabulous.

DO NOT USE ADT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read my other reviews to see that I only give honest, detailed reviews (good as well as bad).  I can unequivocally say that ADT is the worst service company I have ever used for ANYTHING.  I'll go issue by issue to keep this short:
1.  When I changed the 3 year contract over from my roommate's name into my name (after paying on time for 2 years), they made me renew for another 3 years, or pay several hundred dollars in termination fees.  The changeover involved no equipment changes, or any other services other than taking off one name and putting in another.  The rep told me that after paying for 3 years, I would own the equipment outright, and could terminate without a fee then.  I explained that I had already paid 2 of the 3 years on time, but the rep would not budge - he said I would have to start over from the beginning and use the same equipment for another 3 years before I would own it and be free to leave the contract.  I feel that this is completely unfair to rope me in for a total of 5 years with no remedy on my part.
2.  The initial installer (apparently an ADT "authorized dealer" - not an actual employee - even though I called ADT for the service) promised that any future maintenance or visits would be free of charge.  When the system broke down - on it's own - not my fault (the signal receiver quit working for some unknown reason) - they charged me about $30 for a visit fee, and said that the installer lied to me.  No remedy offered, no apologies, just a pay the bill or else attitude.  The service guy that came out agreed that I did nothing wrong to break the receive - it just went out on its own.
3.  During discussions about Number 2 (above), I noticed that the copy of the contract in my possession was missing pages 3 and 4 of the fine print.  This came up because during Number 2, they stated that the service visit fee was in the contract, but I couldn't find that anywhere.  I called ADT and requested a copy of the contract with the missing pages.  Two weeks later, I received a paper copy in the mail MISSING PAGES 3 and 4.  I called again and requested a copy again, specifically asking for pages 3 and 4.  Two weeks later, i got another paper copy in the mail MISSING PAGES 3 and 4.  Today I called again, and was told by four different people that they don't have pages 3 and 4, that I would have to call the original installer for that, who is not an ADT company.  And they didn't have their phone number or contact info - they said that's in the contract - which it isn't - probably on the missing pages.  So to recap, in Number 2, they charged me a fee stating that it's in the contract, and in the end, it is not in my contract - their copy or mine.
4.  I received a letter in the mail from ADT one week ago that my monthly bill will be increased approximately $2, with no explanation of why.  I felt that this was a breach of the contract - they retain the right to raise my price in this contract where I am locked in for 3 years, but I can't cancel without hundreds of dollars in fees.  I called and complained, and the representative agreed to "waive" the increase since I "protested" it on the phone.
5.  During discussion of Number 4 (above), I asked what my new monthly price would be.  The representative listed a bunch of fees, "plus taxes."  I asked specifically for the final amount of money that will be taken out of my checking account each month.  He stated $51.95, and that was after waiving the "increase" in number 4.  I checked my bank statements, and every month going back at least a year, I had been paying $38.96.  After going around and around, he claimed that I added a "cell guard" to my service within the past month.  I swear to Jesus that I had absolutely no contact with ADT whatsoever for several months, and had made no changes to my service, equipment, account or anything else.  After being transferred on the phone 4 more times, I got a rep who said that I had not been paying for the extra service all along, that they just noticed it, increased my bill by $13 without telling me, and that they reserve the right to back bill me for previous months, per the contract (see Number 2 above).  When I explained that it's not in my contract, they said it was, and transferred me again.
6.  Every time I've called with an issue over the past 3 years, the service personnel are curt, unaccomodating, and have an attitude that they are doing me a favor.  I have never felt like a valued customer, and other than Number 4 (which was their fault to begin with), they have never remedied a single issue I brought to them.
Right now I am contacting my attorney to cancel my contract by claiming that they have breached their side on numerous occasions.  I hate to pay the legal fees, but the rep today told me I would be charged $552.63 if I cancel today in cancellation fees.
STEER CLEAR OF ADT!!!

Got Brinks to put in wireless alarm 3 years ago, they did not state in their contract that a signal provider would ever change our service, or lack thereof.  Brinks sold to Broadview who sold to ADT.  It has been a nightmare with false alarms going off all day and all night long.  ADT has plenty of complaints and apparently lawsuits over this issue.  When they went with AT&T it stopped our wireless alarm from getting any signal, interesting that it worked perfectly with Verizon.
Apparently greed is keeping everyone unsafe.  Shame on ADT.

We had great experience with their installation process, and they installed it really quickly and efficiently and explained us on how to use it.  I loved their installation process and it was offered with a promo pricing.  The features offered for the price was really great.

Our experience with them was good. They came within their window and they answered all our questions. We were having some issues with the signal basically and it took a while to get that resolved. It was not entirely their fault. Once we got off their schedule, it was hard to get back. We had a special discount and it cost like $89. We would use them again in the future if necessary.

I get special pricing because I have a membership in another organization. It is kind of weird that they made an error which really upset me, but they fixed it plus went beyond. I had originally set an appointment for them to come out and do the installation. Originally it was going to be in the neighborhood of $300, but they missed the appointment. There was a scheduling error somewhere. The installer did not show up during the 2-hour time period that he was supposed to, so ADT did the installation and all the equipment for free. Once they got everything together, the people I have dealt with have been outstanding. They really did a good job in setting up my alarm system to make sure that I have the right coverage. They were very responsive. The one time I kind of messed up and set the alarm when I shouldn’t have, they immediately called to make sure everything was okay. They went through the process just like it had been explained to me, so that was reassuring.

They are a big company.  They do business and residential projects.  I have never had to go to their office.  I don't even know where they are located.  I just call the 1-800-number and they come out.  They are available usually when I need them.  Their responsiveness is quick.  I don't have to wait a long time for them to come out and take care of whatever I need.  They are a bit pricey, but I haven't had any problems with them.  I've been using them continuously for years now.

The installation went fine. We have been calling them for several months to discuss the system and get it updated. Our name and phone number is taken with promises to call us back. No one from ADT has ever called back. We have been calling for months. The only communication we get from ADT is a bill every 3 months.

They found two section in our security system that were faulting. Everything turned out fine and I have no complaints. He was very professoinal and went about diagnosing and isolating the problems. I like especially was that he was able to find both errors quickly. One thing that could be problemmatic for some people is they an automated call system that calls you the day before your appointment. If you do not call back within the time given after the automated call, they cancel the appointment.

They are really good. I am very happy with their service and they are very professional. I would recommend them to others. They are charging me more than what they promised and I am yet to straighten out the issue. There was a little malfunction in the alarm system and I called them. They came in and changed the whole system and I had no more problems.

I have several problems over the years and they always are timely in coming to fix the system. They have never charged me for the fix even when it was my fault (cut wires by mistake in remodel). Certain Techs are better than others -so I get the names of the ones I like. If it is taking too long to fix I request another tech. and they send a more experienced one out that fixes problems in no time. The alarm wasn't working for a month and I asked for a refund twice - never got it and I didn't feel like persisting.

A salesman came out, said that it was going to be a hard job, even with no sheet rock on the walls yet and said it was going to cost $1400.00 and wanted a check up front. I attempted to call them and did not get any response for two weeks, so I put a stop payment on my check and switch to another company.

Dealing with ADT has been very mixed. My sales rep was friendly but didn't entirely seem to know what he was talking about, gave me information that was not clear, etc. I have had problems with my security system and requesting service has been very frustrating. Sometimes I have to wait weeks before someone can come out. ADT has called to cancel at the last minute after I sat and waited during the 4-hour window for them to arrive. One repair tech was rather grouchy and could not resolve my problem. I called a few weeks later to request another tech be sent out. The customer service rep was grouchy until I asked who I could talk to about complaints. The second tech they sent out was finally able to solve the problem. The billing department did give me one quarter's worth of credit for the technical problems I encountered.

The sales process was a little annoying, since the rep. had to come out multiple times due to his inexperience. The installation process was really fast and professional, and we have been very satisfied with the operation of the system. I was a little worried about the wireless nature of the system, but it has been perfect. We did install the Cellguard system (due to using a VOIP home phone) but have not had any chance to test the system. The price seemed high (and I had a insurance company ''subsidy''), but I feel like it is effective.
