"Hi [Member Name Removed], we thank you for the kind words. Professionalism and quality restoration is what we deliver to all of our customers everyday. It was our pleasure to assist you in your time of need."
Our water line to our icemaker leaked and noticed we had a small amount of mold growing in the cabinets above the refrigerator. We called 911 restoration since they were on Angie's list. Guess we should have done our research. Had an appointment Saturday for a quote. The guy was over 2 hours late (should have been a flag), gave us a quote and told us what needed to be done. Said they could start Monday morning. A supervisor and crew would be out between 8 and 9. My husband took off work and waited. The crew got lost coming finding the house so my husband had to go out and look for them and guide them to the house. There was NO supervisor and crew didn't speak English. They took off crown molding and started tugging on custom cabinets when my husband alerted them that there were still screws in the cabinet. He ended up helping them take down the cabinets. they bubbled off my kitchen and put up 2 large noisy fans that had to blow for 48 hours. said they would be back Wednesday. Wednesday morning came and no one called us to let us know what time they were scheduled to come. My husband called (let me tell you, NOONE answers their phone and when you call the local number it is the emergency line in California) and they told him that they could not make it that day and would be out Thursday. He said that was unacceptable, so they said they would be out between 4 and 5 pm. 6:30 they finally show up.
When they removed tape, etc. that held up plastic around kitchen, noticed it took off finish on custom cabinets. I asked the guy who I need to contact, but he was unsure. After they left, we never heard from anyone from this company again. No one called to ask us how the service was or if there were any issues, etc.
I will NEVER use this company again and I would hope that Angie's List would take a better look at the comments that customers make before endorsing them.
A problem was that my home was built in '58 and the breakers kept tripping due to all the power being used. After this happening several times the crew set up some sort of power router and got everything working consistently.
I was concerned that the cost would be more than what I could afford or that my insurance would pay for because they didn't know or give me a price up front. Eli kept reassuring me that he would accept what the insurance would cover and not come looking for more, that the most important this was that the house was thoroughly dried out. The supervisor came out several times and took measurements to see how everything was drying and recorded all of this information for my insurance company to be see. Over the last couple days most of the fans and dehumidifiers were removed until it was down to one room. Everything was dry and the work was done.
I appreciated the reassurance and speedy action in a most stressful time when the unknowns were great.
Because my child has issues and a little mold was found, I needed to have someone come and test our air to make certain we had found everything and that our air was perfectly safe for him. This means having a mold consultant come and take air samples and then sending them to a lab. This takes time. During this time, we wanted the air scrubbers to stay in our home so we could continue to live here while we were waiting on results. Eli really worked with us on this. We had some trouble with the lab which made things take an extra long time. Eli was quite patient and offered helpful advice. The guy in charge of my job was Victor. He was incredibly kind and helpful.
If you need a restoration company, I would use 911 Restoration. It felt good to know that I could trust them and they were not going to take advantage of my misfortune.

The job was going so well ... until the air tests after the mold remediation job failed. That's when I realized all the problems. Apparently there is an official mold remediation licensing specific to Houston, requiring very specific steps and procedures to follow. I learned that 2 ft around any visible mold must be either removed or sanded + anti-mold treated. There was apparently areas missed the first visit, requiring a second drywall removal visit. They are supposed to set-up a contamination area + decontamination entry chamber, NOT walk around my house wearing the suits they were just scrubbing mold. I don't believe that breaking the baseboards under your feet, causing a snapping motion which will disturb the mold on the boards (airborne?), is following the code book either.
After the first air test failed (2 of 3 areas), they returned to remove more drywall, plus also disconnect plumbing and remove a sink in the bathroom, which they did w/ care. So w/ larger holes in my ceiling + walls, a second attempt at hand cleaning + running air scrubbers for several days, they left and the air was retested ... and found that the closet again failed ... AND I had the areas immediately adjacent to the work areas additionally tested and found that the guest bedroom air quality now failed. At this point nerves were getting rattled from the extended amount of time, effort, and inconvenience being experienced by both sides. I suspected contamination from the suits while doing the job, they suspected mold contamination to the wood flooring. After agreeing to remove several floorboards (problems encountered, but I did agree to their removal), I asked to evaluate the situation and our options. At this point the realization occurred to me (before them) that the simplest explanation is the most likely, and that the tape sealing around the plastic was leaking, allowing air flow from the attic where the original mold began growing (leak from A/C drain not being properly designed and glued ... also meaning no flooring needed to be sawed + removed). After hesitation to remove visible mold from the attic (excuse was that 90% of all Houston attics have mold??), they removed the plywood in the attic still saturated w/ water (directly over hole in closet), all areas were again hand cleaned, sealed up, had air scrubbers running, had all areas adjacent to and where they were walking w/ mold suits hand cleaned (hallway, stairs, house entry), and re-tested. Finally, after 5and frac12; weeks, 8 visits, and 3 air quality tests, the remediation job passed.
In summary, the Houston mold remediation code was not followed, so no grade above an F can be assessed. Perhaps most jobs don't need such thorough regulations, but mine did. The job did grow in size, to which Eli did not change my price quote (70% up front, and I didn't pay the remaining 30% due to paying for re-testing the air quality), and apparently once a mold remediation company signs a contract with you they can't leave until the job is done or you release them of liability (as Eli tried to trick me into saying several times). The remediation company should require that you test the air quality prior to them starting the job (which didn't happen), although they cannot suggest to you an air testing company. I believe that 911 Restoration can do great work, but violating the Houston mold regulations significantly impacted everyone involved.
They cleaned everything in the kitchen. I didn't think the walls in the other rooms needed to be cleaned but they wiped them and showed me the residue. They really knew what they were doing. They boxed up almost my entire house for the cleaning process. Everything was packed well and the packing order made sense.
The best part of their service was that, they were able to clean my cabinets about the microwave!!!! I was worried about how much it was going to cost to replace the cabinet doors above the mircorwave as the kitchen was a custom build. I have no idea how they did it but they removed the smoke damage from the cabinet doors. In the end my house was cleaner and had better air quality than before the fire.
Sure enough, the next morning, they arrived right on time and removed all the wet sheet rock and insulation as well as treated any boards that needed to be treated. They also brought dehumidifiers and air scrubbers.
This is where my big problem began. We could not seem to find the source of leak. We had A/C people, roofers, and even an inspector come to look before we finally discovered the source of the moisture. This took a very long time and while this was happening, we still needed all the equipment to keep our house liveable. Also, there were a couple of times that we needed the folks at 911 Restoration to come build additional containments. Containments are very important to our family because my husband has asthma and we have a medically fragile son. They were compassionate and helpful. In fact, Eli even came on a Sunday morning just to troubleshoot with my husband what the problem could be and how we could move forward.
I don't ever want to need a restoration company again However, if I do, I will call 911 Restoration. Eli is great and so is everyone who works for him! Ceasar, Victor, and all the guys who came to my house were delightful! They demonstrated respect for my property and my emotional needs as this was a very trying time for me!
