Abescape Landscaping & Irrigation

While passing a number of landscapers from Abescape Landscaping who were weed whacking in a very rocky median I heard a crack on my windshield. Being in a rush to return to work I wasn't sure what to do so I circled around to take photos of the scene and then quickly headed to work. I tried to contact the number on the truck but was unable to speak to anyone. This event occurred on a Thursday afternoon around the intersection of E Crystal Falls Pkwy and Highland Falls drive. Monday was a holiday. I searched on the web to find another contact number and was able to contact someone on Tuesday but was told that because I didn't report it to them it within 48 hours (i.e by Saturday), file a police report, or speak with anyone at the incident that they would be unable to pay for any damages... which is ridiculous because if I were trying to lie I could very well do that a month from now with the same crack and say they caused it. The vehicle is a brand new SUV and they must assume that I have the time to drive around looking to file a false report to have my windshield replaced. E Crystal Falls Pkwy is not a very busy road in the early afternoon. There is no reason why their workers can't stop what they're doing to wait for cars to pass before continuing their work especially in an area that is full of small rocks and stones (as you can see in the photos). That is what the landscapers in my neighborhood do (especially if they are in a rocky area!). Their failure to pause their work, is not only a bad business practice but a danger to passers by (thankfully my driver side window was not down). From the median where they were working a rock could have easily flown into my window and struck me in the head. I see that this is not the first complaint (i.e. See Eduardo Tadeo's comment) and wonder if there are more. While I realize that accidents happen, it is troubling that a company is, evidently, not training their workers to practice better safety when working in pubic spaces and it is also troubling that a company is not doing the respectable thing, which is to own up to the damage that they have caused. I wonder if there are others out there that have had a similar problems with this company. One of the employees I spoke with seemed to suggest that this has occurred more than a few times. I suggested to him, given the nature of their of business, that they should provide information on their website with proper notice to the public of their internal policies and procedures for such situations (especially given their public presence). He said he would bring that up to the company manager. While this may seem to be a small issue $500 here, $900 there, $1000 paid by passers by (and insurance companies) adds up over the years and if this company is not holding themselves accountable enough to incorporate better safety practices into their business... sadly, I guess it will take a person with their windows down cruising by on a cool Fall day to get hit by a stray rock for anyone to take notice. However if they are smart they will make some changes...

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! This company constantly broke landscaping lights, irrigation sprinkler heads, and could not tell the difference between weeds and plants. They pulled up new plants WHEN specifically told area contained new growth. I signed for a year contract with Abescape and at the end of the year, in 2016, I obviously did not renew contract....UPDATE: Two years later after not renewing contract I received a bill CHARGING ME FOR SERVICES NOT PERFORMED THIS YEAR ...2018. I just received a bill for $400.00 for services supposedly performed this year during these months 4/1, 5/1, 6/1 and 7/1 for yard cleaning mowing, etc. Funny thing is in January of this year I changed over my landscape to turf, concrete and removed all but one plant in the front, which my husband trimmed. Abescape could not have possibly cleaned the backyard either because plants were trimmed by my husband and myself in August and have not been trimmed since. Also they could not have possibly entered our backyard because we have very tall walls and locked gates, which would require a ladder to climb over or gates to be left unlocked. This did not happen because we also have a security system in place and have no record of Abescape arriving at our home nor entering our yards. This company is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. ALSO SINCE WE HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR SERVICES NOT PERFORMED I WOULD CALL THIS FRAUDULENT PRACTICES ON THE COMPANY. I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY WORST ENEMY.

Horrible. The company lied and charged me for work not performed. Had to file BBB complaint to resolve.

We initially contacted Abescape for an estimate for initial yard clean-up. Our first appointment was rescheduled for the following morning at 0700 and Fernando showed up at 0730. Not bad, only 30 minutes late so I wasn't concerned about that. When Fernando told me he didn't know what the estimate was for that's when I started getting concerned. We walked around my yard and I told him I needed weed removal, pine needle removal and possibly some bushes trimmed. After some discussion on the services his company provides he quoted me $685 for a day of work!! I'm not sure what the going rate is here in El Paso, but that seems like lawyer prices to me. I'm left wondering if I was quoted that price because my husband wasn't around or if that is really the rate. Either way we won't be hiring.

Abescape came out and did an initial yard cleanup. They did a fantastic job. I asked them if they could put me on a biweekly schedule and they said yes, and that they would email me my schedule. After one week, I called them again because I hadn't heard from them. I was told that they would email the schedule the next day. Again, nothing. After a few days, I tried one more time and this time I was told I'd get an email within the next ten minutes. But again, nothing. We chose a different landscaper.

These are guys that come and they do our front yard and backyard every Saturday or every second Saturday.

ABESCAPE didn't complete the work properly the 1st time, the 2nd time, the 3rd time, or the 4th time. This company charged me for work it did not perform. I ended up terminating service almost 2 months later after ABESCAPE destroyed my grass and left my backyard an uneven dust pit with a mound of soil waiting to be used for leveling. I recently learned this company did not perform work it said it completed (i.e., I paid this company to lie to me). I hired ABESCAPE on or about February 24, 2016 to complete the work described. The work was estimated to take 3 days. After the first attempt by ABESCAPE there were several leaks in the drip line (in which water was shooting more than 10 feet into the air), sprinkler heads were not properly installed (i.e., there were no swing joints in some heads), and the majority of trees and plants had the incorrect emitters and/or the incorrect number of emitters – or no emitters at all. In addition, while all grass was completely tilled, the land was not properly leveled. After the second attempt, there were still leaks in the drip line and issues with trees missing emitters. During this visit, ABESCAPE removed approximately 1” of soil and placed it in my front yard. However, the land was still not level. After the third attempt (almost a month after the start of work), the emitters and sprinklers APPEARED to be properly installed. However, the land still was not level. Water was pooling in 3 distinct areas after running the sprinkler system. After discussing the issue with ABESCAPE, I ordered 7 cubic yards of topsoil (at a cost of more than $300) to help resolve the leveling issue. Please note I suggested bringing topsoil in before ABESCAPE'S first attempt, but ABESCAPE explained that the best way to level the yard was not to add soil but instead use the Bobcat to remove all the existing grass and soil already in the yard. I terminated the remainder of the agreement 6 weeks after ABESCAPE began work. I paid more than $2,000 toward a project that was not been completed. ABESCAPE DID NOT LIVE up to its proposal or the company’s slogan of “Done right the first time.” I even contacted the owner, Mr. Abraham Herrera, directly to resolve these issues – to no avail. I exhausted all reasonable remedies and efforts to conclude business with ABESCAPE as agreed. Since when does a customer have to try to appease a company? I've worked with a lot of great companies in El Paso - and this is NOT one of them. It gets worse: I ended up paying ABESCAPE the entire price LESS $300 -- which I used to pay another landscaper to level the yard. I had to leave EL Paso immediately on Active Duty military orders (which I informed the company of when I employed them ...) . Upon returning, I discovered that ABESCAPE DID NOT INSTALL SWING JOINTS ON THE SPRINKLER HEADS - which I paid $295 for. So, not only did this company fail in every respect, but it also charged me for work that it did not perform. On 20 July 2016 I contacted the owner of Abescape and informed him of my discovery and requested a refund of the $295 Mr. Herrera charged me for work he did not perform. No response. I filed a complaint with the BBB and intend to sue this company.

When I contracted with Abescape in Spring 2014 the service was good and problems were handled quickly.  I even referred friends.  However, in the past year the service has deteriorated (when they actually showed up) and promises for estimates and service did not occur.  Broken parts were not replaced and I had to purchase parts to repair damages they made to the irrigation system.  I've lost plant material and have had water loss due to their negligence or failure to repair.  I was not provided a schedule for service this year and they do not show up even after I am given a date by telephone.  I was hoping the bad service was just a phase and the service would go back to the way it was but it has not.  I am very disappointed.  No customer should have to call on a regular basis to obtain service.

Abescape was contacted to provide an estimate for a landscape irrigation system.  Contact with the company was easy and an appointment was established.
Abe arrived late.  He was not prepared to perform the estimate, and stated that he would have to make another visit with the proper equipment.  He was also wanting to enlist me into a contract service that his company provides.  I felt pressured when I asserted that he was here to do one thing and is now deviating from what I have asked him to do.
A short time later I received his estimate and was shocked that he was so extremely outside of the parameters of the other estimates.  His estimate wasn't even competitive as it was two to two and a half times that of the other four.
As noted on the comments of the other Angie's list customers ... quite expensive.

 When Abescape comes out, they do a fantastic job. The problem is they did not come to my house on the agreed upon dates and did not let me know ahead of time of any changes in schedule.

I hired them to do bi-monthly lawn and yard maintenance for about 2 months, which is equivalent to 4 services. They missed 3 out of the 4 services. Every time a service was missed, I had to call myself to find out when they would be coming out. When they did come to the house, they entered my backyard directly without knocking to let me know they are here, which I find to be very unprofessional.

 I also called twice inquiring about grub treatment without reaching anyone during regular business hours. I left messages asking for a call back, but did not receive any. I also got a quote for an extensive backyard renovation. However, after the inconsistent service I had from the bi-monthly maintenance crew, I will not be using this company for the renovation.

  I was thrilled the yard looked exactly like I had envisioned it. Every concern I had was addressed. all my phone calls answered quikly. They went of their way to accomdate me making special trips off site to sign contracts when I couldn't get free. The workers were polite and cleaned up at the end of each day. They came when they said they would and finished on time and even came back after the final payment to make adjustments and fix some small things. The owner even stopped by near the end to see how things were going and if I was happy. I am sure I could have got a cheaper price somewhere else but not this level of quality. I didn't get several bids because I saw thier work at a friends house and Knew this was the company I wanted. I would use them again in heart beat and will diffinetely recomend them to anyone who wants a beautiful landscape.

What I like about them is that you pay per service. They are also very professional and always on time. Their workers are really customer friendly and they are worth every penny of it. I got them from Angie's List.

Abescape was great.  A very professional group.  Abe is my landscaper of choice.  I am reminded that I need to call him again, which I will.  He is extemely reliable.

Things went well. They come to the house when they make an appointment; communicate when they are not going to be right on time, come with appropriate parts, and finish neatly and professionally.

It went very well. They were a great crew. - on time each morning, took a lunch break, worked until 4 pm, and cleaned up daily. They returned as needed to insure sprinklers were covering area to be watered. I also signed up with them for monthly lawn, tree and shrub care.
