About us
Helotes Collision Center is a family-owned business, run by Carl and Patsy Monaco. We have been in business in Helotes since 2001. Prior to opening our own shop, Carl was the Body Shop Manager at Gillman Honda for 16 years. We employee a total of 14 employees (1 Painter, 2 Preppers, 5 Body Techs, 1 Parts Person, 2 Porters, 2 Estimators, and 1 Receptionist. We feel we owe our success to our great employees, and also to our wonderful customers. We receive a lot of work from repeat customers and from their referrals. We sublet our Paintless Dent Repair to Dent Masters, a family-owned business, owned by Chris Douglass. We also sublet our glass work to Estrada's Carglass, owned by Joe and Tally Estrada, also a family-owned business. Our alignment work is sublet to Mander Automotive, owned by Bob Mander, and again, a family-owned business.

"The vehicle we repaired was a 1998 Honda Accord. We did a courtesy inspection of the sunroof and tail light after the customer brought the vehicle back because of water leaks. When we repaired the vehicle, we replaced the bumper, energy absorber, and reinforcement beam. None of these parts required us to drill holes. They were simply replacement parts. The 9 holes that were not sealed properly were not put there by anyone at Helotes Collision Center. The Insurance Company will only pay for damage that they are responsible for, not pre-existing problems. We are sorry that you felt the work was unsatisfactory, but we did the job according to the Nationwide estimate, following their guidelines."

I did receive the car back with some large but superficial scratches that can be buffed out on the top back of the car that were not there according to my memory when I dropped the car off. However, I did not protest the scratches because 1) I was not that concerned about them and 2) I very well could have put them there since I often put my gym back there when I am searching for my car keys to unlock my car. Based on their customer care, I am 100% confident they would have addressed my concern and buffed the scratches out had I brought the issue up, but again I was not that concerned or even sure it was not my fault instead of theirs.
My only real legitimate frustration is that they took longer than I had hoped to fix my car. However, they were really busy at the time which is probably a result of their great reputation and my car was pretty messed up. So, I cannot blame them as they did everything required to fix my car right. They also paid for my rental car for the extra week since my insurance company only covers one month. In the end, they fixed my car perfectly and were super nice. Overall a great pleasure to deal with.
== Update 1 ==
Let me say that I really appreciate the care and attention that Helotes Collision provided when I first took my car to them. Perhaps, I did not understand the extent of the damage, but I definitely appreciated their honesty and thoroughness fixing my car to like new condition. Its hard to find companies that do good quality work these days, but Helotes Colision is definitely one of them.
== Update 2 ==
I was driving down the road and my car started to overheat. I called Helotes Collision and told them about the problem. They said to bring it on in and as far as they are concerned, my car was their baby. I brought it in and they diagnosed the problem to be a manufacturer defective radiator. They called the manufacturer who provided a new radiator and Helotes Colision installed it within a day. They also paid for my rental car during that time.
On every occasion, I have dealt with a representative named Aaron. He is always really polite and super helpful. Dealing with him is always a pleasure. I am really happy with Helotes Collision at this point and highly recommend them. I will definitely use them again.
"We appreciate your review. A $7,000 plus repair is by no means a minor repair. It is considered a major repair on just about any vehicle. We take great pride in our work and when there is this much damage, it will take a long period of time to repair. We would have preferred to have the vehicle finished sooner, however, our greatest concern is to get it done correctly. With this type of repair we have issues of hidden and secondary damage not seen until the vehicle is completely disassembled. Only at that point can additional parts be ordered, which also contributes to delays. Regarding the scratches on the back of the car. There are issues like that at every body shop, which is why when customers drop off, we do a walk around and go over prior damage with them. We then have the customer sign the folder. I am sorry if there was some confusion about the scratches. However, in reviewing the folder the scratches are indicated as prior damage, along with dings along the side of the car."

"The repairs were completed 10/29/13 and this is the first we have heard about any issues. At the time of pickup a questionnaire was given to the customer and we were given 9's on a scale of 1-10 for 'quality of work', 'vehicle ready in a timely manner', and 'recommend us to friends'. All vehicles are washed and vacuumed before we call the customer to pick up. We would have appreciated it if you would have pointed out what you thought was filthy, so we could make it right. Our work is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle and we would appreciate the opportunity to inspect the truck. If there is over-spray on the vehicle, please bring it by and we would be glad to remove it. If nothing is said to us at the time of the pickup, or shortly thereafter, it limits our ability to please the customer. We pride ourselves in taking care of our customers, and would appreciate the opportunity to make your vehicle right."
