Considering that Harry sold me the house I lived in, I thought of him when I went to sell it. He wasn't very great as a buyers agent but I had a lot going on with work, my husband being deployed, my toddlers and my mothers health to focus clearly on just how lousy he was in doing in representing me. As a buyers agent, he showed me homes in Skipshaw- not a place I wanted to live at, and then he showed me the house that I finally bought. He did negotiate a slightly lower deal. He seemed rushed at coming to a close. he recommended "Elvis" and inspector he always uses to inspect my house. At closing the mortgage company said I owed two thousand dollars to get the APR I wanted, but that wasn't the agreement I signed. I was in a bind since Harry arranged my closing day to be my move in day and I had my entire house already packed up. Scared that I wouldn't get the house and have a place to put my kids in, I payed up. It rained within the first three days of living in that house and that's when I realized I was sold a lemon! The roof leaked and garaged was flooded with water- ruining some of the items I had placed in there for storage. I contacted Harry and he blew me off. I called Bryan, the home insurance guy from Texas Farm Bureau- who harry advised me to get, and told him what was happening. He couldn't do anything about it but came over and heard me cry all about it. That insurance agent was pretty cool- he suggested I get the inspector to come back and look at what had gone wrong. I contacted Harry and he said he would talk to the man. He never did. Within the next few days the AC went off an Harry did show up and helped me figure out what I should do. This calmed my fear that he was vulture. We called old republic and had my AC fixed within a few days. I never pursued the inspector because shortly after this week of horrors and unpacking... my place of work came under attack by Maj Hasan. So I slipped into a deep depression. Harry called to check on me several times to see how I was doing, so my thoughts of him improved by a lot. When my husband redeployed we got busy in the house. The leaky roof had been caulked with so much silicone that it acted like a water reservoir. The supporting beams were rotting and we had to remove to roofing and decking that was adjoined. We still had issues with the AC and finally replaced it. Years went buy and we re-hired harry to represent us in the sale of the house. After all, he was the only broker I knew and for all I knew, the circumstances of the sell and the events that occured might have made him out to look bad. So he came by and looked our home. He told us to finish the kitchen and paint the rooms neutral and he would have his guy come clean our carpets. He took a few pictures of the outside of the house assuring us he wouldn't use them (the lawn was full of weeds) but that he just wanted to see how the house looked on camera since it was on a hill. We finished the improvements and moved out (PCS move)- but, Molly maids of harker heights broke one of our fans and his carpet guy-Mr. Young- used nasty water to clean our carpets and made our whole house smell like pee. Harry assured us that he would contact the Molly Maids and the carpet guy and get it all done for us. He also said he had listed our home on MLS and that he would list it for 219k. It took almost an entire month before he even listed the house. He took several lousy pictures which he refused to redo. Molly maids never fixed the fan- not because they were terrible, but because Harry was v ery hard to get a hold of. Something I was becoming very familiar with. I finally fired him. I felt bad but I told him he was not holding his end of the bargain. To which he responded " your house is overpriced". ridiculous. We hired Eva Keagle and went over every detail. After talking with her I cried. She informed me that "Elvis", my inspector had been suffering from Alzheimers for years before he inspected my home. I felt duped. She said I was overpriced by 20k. She complained about the pee smell and the flooring. She gave me the down and dirty real quick. She has a team that is responsible for marketting a analyzes data. They are very responsive. Well, we tore up the floors and guess what? there was no subflooring, no glue... Terrible rigging that an inspector should have picked up on. But I guess when your eyes are fixed on that comission- selling the home regardless of the condition isn't so important and neither is screwing over your client. Karma will come back to him. We have spent over 25k on the house and we are barely going to break even.
