As mentioned above, we took our 2011 travel trailer to United RV to have ONE window which was leaking repaired and to have the water valve in the toilet repaired. The service technician effectively ruined all 8 windows by playing "connect the dots" with the weep holes (there are 22 weep holes total), then bent the aluminum up to the point where the windows would not open and could not be used. When my husband pointed out the damage they had done and explained to them that you cannot 're-bend" aluminum and that we wanted all 8 windows replaced, the service manager at United RV advised they would NOT replace the windows, they would just beat the bent aluminum back down and dab on touch-up paint. My husband called Hartland and spoke with a representative about the issue. He also called the window manufacturer about what United RV had done. Bill at the window manufacturer advised that you cannot rebend aluminum. He also advised that the paint on the windows was baked on at the factory. If United RV was going to hammer down the ruined portion of the aluminum and apply touch-up paint, the paint would not adhere properly, exposing the aluminum which would then corrode causing the windows to leak. After speaking with the window manufacturer, my husband then went up to United RV and was told by Sonya, the service advisor that 7 of the windows had already been replaced. The remaining 8th window was on backorder and as soon as it arrived and was installed she would call us. After 2 more weeks of waiting, my husband called United RV (this was on 5/31/11) and was told the windows were all replaced. They were just waiting on someone to do a walk around of the trailer to verify there were no more issues and that we would be called with the trailer was ready for us to pick up. We received that call 6/7/11. We went that afternoon to inspect and pick up our trailer. In looking at the windows we discovered that only 2 of the windows had actually been replaced - the bathroom window and the kitchen window. On the remaining 7 windows, the aluminum had been hammered back down and touch-up paint dabbed onto the aluminum. When my husband informed the service manager at United RV that we wanted the windows replaced, he asked if we could open and close the windows now. Since we could, it didn't matter that they looked like they'd barely survived a major hail storm with the dents, etc., United RV was done. We let it be known we were not at all happy with what they had done, waited 30 minutes for someone to bring a forklift out to pick the trailer up so we could get it on the hitch and brought the trailer home. After getting the trailer back under the RV cover, we went inside to open up the windows to let it air out and to further inspect the remaining damage. Then we noticed the urine in the floor in the bathroom and in the hallway just outside the bathroom door. Initially we thought that someone had intentionally urinated on the floor. In actuality, a service tech or service techs had used the toilet in our bathroom over a period of several times and failed to flush the toilet. Toilets in an RV are not like the toilet in your home. The bowls do not have water in them at all times. The bowls are dry and when flushed, the toilet uses water to flush out the urine or whatever in the toilet bowl into the "black tank" of the trailer. The toilet bowl in our trailer was full. Now knowing anyone had used our toilet prior to hooking up the trailer and bringing it home, the usual shaking that occurrs when pulling a travel trailer had caused the urine to slop out of the toilet onto the floor and then run into the hallway. Further, as my husband was raising the window shades to open the windows, he noticed that one of the shades had been reinstalled backwards. He removed the valance over the window and then removed the shade to turn it back around only to discover the reason it had been installed backwards. Someone had stepped on the shade, tearing the cloth and smashing the horizontal slats. We can only assume the shade was installed backwards to hide the damage done in the hopes it would not be noticed until we got it home which is what happened. United RV makes a big deal on their website about the "professionalism" of the "certified well trained technicians" used in their service department. Effectively destroying 8 windows in a 6 month old travel trailer, replacing only 2 of the windows they damaged (note the 2 smallest and cheapest to replace), absolutely refusing the replace the remaining 6 windows they damaged, installing a window shade they damaged backwards to avoid detection and leaving our toilet full of urine is not my definition of "professional" anything. Because of the urine splashed onto the flooring, we are going to have to have the bathroom and hallway sanitized as we have absolutely NO idea of any possible diseases, conditions, disorders any of the service technicians currently employed at United RV. Extreme? Possibly, however, our 9 year old son is still recovering from a bone marrow transplant. While his immune system is much more stable than when he was released from the hospital, it is still compromised. He has already spent 108 days in the hospital - we just can't take any chances on his being exposed to heaven only knows what the service technicians at United RV left behind in our trailer. I guess we should be grateful they didn't deficate in the shower as well as urinate and refuse to flush our toilet. Please save yourself the same heartache we went through. If you have a travel trailer, fifth wheel, RV, whatever that needs repair - no matter how minor (remember - we only took ours in to have ONE leaky window fixed and the water valve on the toilet repaired) - do NOT go to United RV.
