 + -1 moreHartsell Pool Renovations: We had four companies bid on the renovation of our pool in the DFW area and were most impressed with Tom Hartsell. He was promptly able to answer questions and provide quotes on various materials, during the "decision process" and throughout the renovation work effort. We replaced existing brick on raised walls with Lueders Limestone and added Travertine Bullnose Coping. Existing ceramic tile was replaced with glass tile. A portion of our concrete deck (damaged by tree roots) was also replaced. We opted for "Crystal Stone Pebble Finish - Midnight Blue smooth". End result is Beautiful and exceeded our expectations! Tom and his crew are all professional, courteous, and meticulous with their respective skills and clean-up. Hartsell Pool Renovations is the only company that we interviewed who does not ask for payment until the job is completed. In our experience, a company who offers to defer payment is confident in the service they provide. We would highly recommend "Hartsell Pool Renovations".

 + -1 moreNo resolution to the complaint above. I would not recommend this company because their customer service and quality of work is very poor. This plaster job should have lasted 10 years but it didn't last 6 months.
Description of Work: I hired Hartsell to replaster my pool summer 2016. It was expensive due to the type of plaster (not white) and additives/design. By the end of year it had cracks in the skimmer area as well as a 15-20' crack along the bottom of the pool and was leaking. I called Hartsell 4 times before reaching anyone and was given 2 leak detection companies to determine where it was leaking. The first one, American Leak Detection came out 3 times and reported it was leaking from the cracks in the plaster. They patched it for the winter but told me it would have to be "stapled" or resurfaced to fix it correctly. I called Hartsell and was told to call another leak detection company C&S Leak Detection. After a month of not hearing from anyone I called Hartsell again. A week later C&S called me and went to examine the pool. They determined it wasn't leaking where it was cracked along the bottom and removed the patch made by the first company. He said it was a surface issue that Hartsell would have to fix. I called Tom again but he was rude and did all he could to convince me the crack is a result of the pool shifting because of the drought and then the extreme rain last year and not his work. None of my neighbors had this issue with their pools so it's not plausible this is the reason. I told him my pool wouldn't be the only one in the entire neighborhood with this issue if it was weather related and the previous plaster lasted 20 years without cracking. He was angry and condescending. He did not offer any real solutions other than to drill out the cracked section and patch it but stated it would look horrible. I would not be able to sell my house without fixing this crack in the pool but Tom isn't willing to take ownership of the poor quality of plaster used and fix the cracks like he should.

The Hartsell estimate was in line with others, but the deciding factor was that no payment was due until the entire job was completed! This gave us a level of comfort in knowing that the renovation team would be motivated to make us happy. Overall, very pleased.
Description of Work: New pebble-plaster, new tile, reset coping stones, diving board work, new light, new mosaics.

After not hearing from them, I called a couple of days later and spoke to someone who said I would get a call back that day. After again not hearing from anyone at Hartsell, I wrote back to them again on August 24th letting them know I had been ignored. Must be nice to be in a position to ignore jobs that pay $5K-$10K...

 + -1 moreFirst our pool was hooked up by the company for draining. That went well. The work crew showed up as scheduled a day later and completed the tile portion in the morning. The next day the plaster crew arrived and did their portion. We included the follow up package in our bid to ensure good pool chemistry. The follow up included a daily visit to the pool, brushing and testing and adding chemicals. The workers at all times were very courteous and professional. If I had a question during the process Tom or his foreman were very good about getting back to us via phone or email. It has been several weeks since the job was completed around 10 May 2016 and we are very happy with the outcome. Our pool looks great! The price was fair and reasonable. We would recommend this company.
Description of Work: Our pool needed new tile and plaster. The owner, Tom made a visit to our house and provided an abundance of samples for our tile and color combinations for the plaster. He measured the pool and then followed up a few days later with a written estimate after we selected the tile and plaster combination.

Description of Work: Hartsell pool renovation replaced the tile and coping on our 27 yr old in ground pool and replastered it with Crystal Stones plaster. Also replaced diving board with a rock formation to dive from and installed hand rail for the entry steps. The crews he used were all very diligent in working and cleaned job site up well. Great craftsmanship from these experienced workers. We would definitely recommend Hartsell Pool Renovations. Tom has great experience and was responsive.

 + 0 moreThis remodel went very well. Tom was responsive. He seems to trust his individual, specialized crews to do their job. Each crew answered my questions along the way. I take care of the pool myself, so did ask a lot of questions and wanted to know where plumbing lines ran, etc. I had paid for the filter clean, although it turns out it was't needed. I ha cleaned the filter just a few months before the remodel, and thought that all the deconstruction and reconstruction would get it dirty, but it didn't (just an FYI!) We are happy with the 'new' 'old' pool and can't wait until spring. I was also glad to do this in the fall, because we weren't chomping at the bit to get back in the poo, which lowered the stress for all involved.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of ~40-yo pool: removed and replaced cement pool deck, coping, tile and plaster. Added a handrail in shallow end and changed the heights of the steps. Changed outer layout of pool deck to a rectangle (on an oval pool). Chemistry start-up and filter clean.

 + 1 moreWe originally contacted Hartsell back in August bc of all the positive reviews on Angies List and other feedback sites. He came out once to talk with me (to provide an original estimate) and then again to talk to my husband and me (to answer detailed questions on the original bid). He answered additional questions via email. Unfortunately we had to delay our project due to family and other household emergencies. Back in late December I contacted him again. I shared that we had gone to several additional tile stores over the last month and we were ready to move forward. We talked via phone and email as he provided the cost of various tile upgrades. We were having issues finding the right coping and he offered to have one of his team members drop off some samples. After a week of the samples getting dropped off I tried emailing (twice) and calling him (left 2 voicemails). That was over the course of 3 weeks and no response. If he was not interested in moving forward with us, I wish he would have let me known.
Description of Work: Hartsell was going to redo our pool plaster and deck and install coping.

It is a very messy project but this crew cleaned up each day and checked in with us throughout the process. We were very very pleased with their work and highly recommend them to others needing similar work.
Description of Work: Resurfaced and retiled our pool as well as removed outdated glass blocks that surrounded the spa and rebuilt with flagstone.

 + 1 moreTom Hartsell was very prompt and professional when giving me an estimate on my remodeling project. At the end he thanked me for the opportunity to bid on it. This attitude is the core of the company. I got bids from 5 or 6 different companies before settling on Hartsell Pools and it was surprising to get such a great deal, customer service, and quality all rolled into one. They want your business and will work to make you a very satisfied customer. He was very responsive when I had questions and the work done was of high quality. I spoke with the workers briefly each morning and most had been doing it for over 10 years. Everyone was very friendly and I had a great experience with them. My pool went from horrible to amazing.

 + -1 moreThe coping of our pool had become separated from the pool so that there was a gap between it and the pool. Hartsell came out and gave a quote. It did take some consistent effort to get the quote and then find out if we were on the schedule or not - I know they are busy, so please take note and be persistent. After they started the work, they worked hard and fast and the work was done in no time at all. Great looking work, and the price was very reasonable. Thanks very much for fixing our pool!

 + 1 moreThe work went well. They had the best bid on the job and they finished on time. However, in the past few months we have has several issues with the work, We have a new crack, several cracked tiles, an area where the plaster is coming off and several places where the flagstone coping has loose cement. I have called the company twice, send two emails and I have had no response to my request for someone to come and take a look at the problems. They gave me a two year warranty on the work, but have been totally unresponsive on the follow up. My next step is to send a certified letter and go through the legal channels, but all I really want is for Tom Hartsell to come look at his work and honor the warranty.
Description of Work: Pretty much a complete pool renovation; re plaster, fixed cracks, re tiled, removed an re set the flagstone coping.

The crew came out on time and were exceptionally conscientious with regard to cleaning up after the work day. The plastering job itself was done with accuracy and integrity. We were kept informed of progress with the job and they provided valuable insight into considerations regarding pool maintenance. These guys were so good that I find myself wishing they repaired fences, which is our current project. Thanks to all of you for a job well done ! The pool looks beautiful now, which is a lot different than what happened on the plastering job that was done several years prior to this.  + 0 moreIt went ok. Had a few concerns about the "heavy acid wash" he describes in his contract. The security camera showed that it was poured on, but dirty streaks on the walls were still there. I called Tom a few months ago and stated that a couple of flagstone rocks around the edge were loose. He sent a guy out to repair it by putting more morter underneath them. When his repairman did the work, he just bent the rock back to remorter. This resulted in the deckoseal/mastic now having cracks in it. I emailed Tom a week ago with no reply. I called his office 5 days later and left a message for him to contact me. He has not. Don't appreciate a contractor ignoring the customer no matter how small or large the repair work is. I should NOT have any issues at all considering the work was only performed 4 months ago. The deckoseal/mastic should still look brand new. ****Please see Hartsell Pools response. I contacted him thru email twice around Easter. He ignored my emails. I called his office and left a message and he didn't return my call. I finally had to contact Fort Worth Business Bureau to solve this warranty issue.He finally sent someone out in June after several attempts from Ft. Worth Business Bureau to resolve this.

 + -1 moreI did not hear from him for over a week. He then called and asked if he could come by to look at the pool. I was going to be out, but I told him the gate would be open. I have not heard from him since then. I called on 11/25, left a voicemail and did not receive a response. I then sent an email last week and still have not heard anything. Very disappointing.
Description of Work: Hartsell was referred to me by the person that had replaced a filter for me. When I saw the great reviews here, I felt good about calling. I called on 11/5 and spoke to Tom about repairing a spot where the rebar was showing and replacing the light with an LED. He gave me an estimate over the phone. It had been raining so he said he was behind on a job and should be able to let me know by Saturday when he could schedule it. This was fine with me as I was not in a hurry.

Tom was available to speak to through out the entire process - answering all the questions I had - and I had a lot! The work took about 3 weeks to complete. The after care took an additional 21 days after the job was completed. Payment was due at full completion of the job - no deposits! We are very happy with our pool remodel.

 + 0 moreTom was professional and extremely helpful. All the work was done on time. The team was detail oriented and Tom was always available to answer any questions we had. He came to the house several times with different samples of tiles and came by frequently to check on progress. The work took a few weeks but the area was always cleaned up before the team left. Thanks to Hartsell pools we have a pool we can enjoy. Their estimates were comparable to other pool quotes we had but they were the only team to guarantee their work for 2 years. All the other companies we got quotes from would only do 1 year. I highly recommend Tom and his team for pool renovations.

 + 1 moreHartsell's bid came in lower than 2 other pool renovation companies. My deck was degrading badly and falling away from the pool and I also needed a new skimmer basket drain, pool/spa re-plaster, new pump, filter, leak repairs, and a new heater for the spa. Tom took care of all of that and did a wonderful job. My pool looks brand new and we couldn't be much happier. The follow up service after construction made everything look good. I highly recommend Hartsell pool renovations if you need major or even minor repair work.
