American Air Masters

Can't speak highly enough about Curtis and his team! We have used American Air Masters to replace 2 AC's in the last 20 years (across our house and a rent house), and the service has always been supreme. In the heat of the summer, our AC recently went out. Within 1 hour of our placing the service request, we had a service appointment, a service representative came and troubleshot the issue, located the needed part from his truck, replaced it, and returned service to our AC. Because the part that needed replacement was under warranty, we had a very low price to cover for the repair, and the house was cooling down within an hour of placing the call. We couldn't have asked for a better service and faster AC repair!

I called American Air Masters because I wanted a top of the line reliable HVAC replacement for both my top and bottom units. I had four other quotes already with the cheapest so ridiculous I felt something wrong to the most expensive which was the “Cadillac” of the HVAC world. With hours of research I settled for the American Standard brand which is made by and the same parts as the Cadillac which uses the Trane Brand. His quote was dead in the middle of them all and I gave him the job. The owner showed up and examined the job and quoted me everything I needed. The installation went off perfect. I have my 1st monthly bill and saved $83 compared to last year. If you want a reliable system installed correctly give them a call.

It was great working with Curtis. He and his team were very professional and friendly throughout the whole process. Prices are very good. The crew that did the install were great group of guys and did a very nice job.

This is my second time purchasing a unit from American Air Masters. Curtis and Sheryl Dorsey are genuine honest people who employee the same type of people. They are honest, respectful, dependable and genuine people with integrity. Curtis has been in the business a long time and very educated on all product lines. He will never try to sell you something you do not need or something he doesn't stand behind. I have referred several friends and they also had great experiences.

Excellent. Installers have worked together for years. Each knew his part. They were polite, efficient and good natured. They did not make a mess. They tested everything before they left. Highly recommend this business.

Another service provider had come out first and diagnosed the issue correctly (after first mis-diagnosing it as a compressor needing a fast-start component and 2 lbs of freon $300) but he couldn't get back to the property till the following day, and I didn't want my renters to have to suffer through another hot night.

Josh, the tech, had been to my primary home on a previous visit. He is always professional, thorough, and highly knowledgeable. The company itself is run very well. The people who answer the phones have a great phone presence, very friendly. The owner even called me back to tell me they were changing the tech to Josh because the problem was rather involved.
Josh came out, confirmed that it was a TXV valve that was needed, and called back to the office for the part, which they dispatched someone to get, and bring to him (I had told their office of the other providers diagnosis earlier.) As soon as he got the part, Josh got to work and had it installed in about an hour. Total time at my house was about 2 hours.
I'm happy with the service they provided my tenants.

But what I can't understand is why, after my telling them that I was shopping for new equipment for my home and two rental properties (that's 3 systems), they would gouge me on price like this ($570 to replace a $60 part.). The provider who had come out earlier said he usually charges $270 for changing a TXV valve. All I can think was they knew I was a landlord in a bind who needed to get a system fixed for his tenants. Well guess what? That's kind of short-sighted. Because my systems will most likely need service in the future, and I'll need new equipment in the future. And I probably won't be calling the service providers who gouge, no matter how highly they score in other areas.

Installed 3.5 and 3.0 ton condensors with matching evap coils and furnace, 16 seer.  Installed new wi-fi thermostats and spent time helping us learn how to use from our phones and Tablet.  Put down new concrete pads, pull disconnect boxes, AUX drain pan with safety switches and new metal supply and return plenums.  Added dampers to all supplies.  They also recapped 16" with line sheet metal and sealed all joints with mastic.  Large group of workers showed up on time and ready to work.  Completed job in less than a full day.  They hauled all used stuff off and completely cleaned up after themselves.  I also want to mention how great the office staff were to answer our questions, prepare and edit proposals, let us work through email and schedule appointments.  AC is working great and is so quiet.  I highly recommend this company.

Curtis came out and gave a very competitive proposal. He was very thorough on what needed to be done and how the install would go. After looking over 6 different companies I went with American Air Master. The installers came out a few days later (on a Saturday) and did a great job, it took a little longer than expected but they didn't rush and made sure it was installed correctly. Curtis came back a few days later to make sure everything was working as expected. Would highly recommend.

First and foremost, I called several companies to get quotes on replacing my badly leaking 14-year old Bryant AC system (I wanted to replace both the furnace and AC). American Air Masters' owner (Curtis) came out to look at everything and quoted me a system replacement for my house. He also wasn't trying to take advantage of a consumer by hiking up the prices like everyone else does. AAM came in with the right price and was lower than everyone else. I deeply researched the different brands and model numbers proposed (as well as researching the companies that quoted me) and decided to go with American Air Masters/Curtis' proposal on a new Lennox AC system with a matching Lennox gas furnace.
I've also always been fascinated by the physics and chemistry on how HVAC works. This morning, their crew came out to do the install, they were professional, and were as passionate about their work as Curtis the owner was (a true HVAC geek-that's a huge compliment). They also explained how things worked and had my new system up and running in no time. I'm very excited about the new system and my house is a meat-locker now-It's NEVER been this cool in the 7 years I owned my house! I can't wait to see how much lower my electric bill will be in the summer!

The owner came out and took a look at my situation. Of the 3 other companies that gave me an estimate, American Air Masters was the only company not trying sell an a/c I didn't need. The owner stated a 2.5 ton would be sufficient while several others were trying to "up-sale" to a 3.5 or 4 ton unit. The owner made some recommendations and I opted to go with a 2.5 ton 14 seer Lennox unit with an upgraded furnace (it supposedly performs like a 16 seer).
His staff arrived on time and performed the work in about 3 hours. They were all professional and ready to answer any questions I asked. 7 months later no problems with the unit and my electric bill has definitely decreased a few bucks. Very professional and honest. American Air Masters will definitely get my business in the future.

The entire process was relatively easy. Curtis came to my home to examine the old system and discuss my options. He was very pleasant and professional and did not pressure me to make a decision. His wife Sheryl handled the scheduling and is a pleasure to work with. On the day of the installation, the crew arrived on time and performed the job professionally. The equipment has since performed as expected. I am extremely satisfied and will definitely consider American Air Masters when it is time to replace my second system.

I was very happy with my experience with American Air Masters. My neighbor recommended them to me and I'm glad he did. The technician was on time, friendly, and efficient. He took care of all the work and made sure I had all the documentation I needed in order to get a rebate from my electric company that will cover the cost.

I was working a part-time job in the evenings at a local hardware store and a customer mentioned he had just replaced his Central Heating/Air Unit. I mentioned that I would need to replace my ac/furnace in the near future. He mentioned that he had recently purchased one from American Air Masters at a fantastic price and great service. It was probably 6 months before I called to set up a meeting with Curtis. I also met with two other local competitors . I met with Curtis (owner) in June 2010 and discussed my options and pricing. Curtis was extremely professional, personal, and very educated on mostly every heating/cooling brand on the market. There was absolutely no pressure to make a decision and he was even honest to tell me the more expensive unit/size I thought I needed would be overkill for my size home. I called again in November to say I was getting close to making my purchase and inquired if he offered an off season discount. I finally had the installation done in March . I was waiting to be in a position to pay cash. Curtis offered a 10% discount. They set up a time for Monday, 9am. I called the city to see if I needed to apply for the permit or if they would. The city informed me American Air Masters would and that the Dorsey's were great about taking care of that and not to worry. My concern was alot of companies will perform work without a permit. The technicians showed up 10 min early (very prompt), They were professional, personal, very clean in uniforms. They worked efficiently and cleaned up neatly afterward. The job took about 5 hours, way less than I expected since my old unit had to be removed from the attic and a new unit placed. They changed out the Furnace in the attic, the unit outside and installed a new digital thermostat as well as replaced the concrete pad outside. The technician went over the new digital thermostat with me. Once the technicians left, within the hour Mrs. Dorsey called to set up the inspection by the city to review the work. A++++ all the way. I highly recommend them from start to finish!!

The gentleman that porvided the estimate was very knowledgable and took the time to ensure that I understood what would happen and what I could expect for my money. When the installers started the process it became evident that alterations were going to be neccesary to the house to get the unit in the attic. They were very responsible in discussing the options with me and we were able to negotiate a fix that was satisfactory to all. Then while doingt more work they were able to identify a much better solution than we had negotiated. They were very profesional, knew what they were doing and although the work took longer than expected they finished in one day to my complete satisfaction. I recommend American Air Masters with confidence.

The entire experience with American AirMasters was completely painless and a pleasure. I had received 4 bids on the job and AAA was not the cheapest but I do believe they were the best value and the most knowledgable about these types of units. They were completely upfront about the availability of cheaper units out there but the other units were unreliable and they could not stand behind those inferior products. I spoke with Curtis and his wife numerous times during the bidding stages and I know that they will always do their best not only on the job but in the advise they could give. Curtis also called out to a friend of his to build some custom cages for the outdoor units so I would not have to worry about anyone stealing my new units. The cages were also very reasonably priced. I noticed the temperature upstairs was about 10 degrees higher than it should have been so I wondered if the freon was low. (During the last regular service visit, the American Air Masters technician had mentioned that there could be a leak in the evaporative coil.) I called American Air Masters and they were available the next day, which was a relief as the temperatures were in the mid to upper 90s. The technician arrived on time and went right to work. He quickly discovered that I indeed have a leak and refilled the freon to last me through the remaining summer season. I now have enough time to consider my options. I also want to say that the technician was very professional and very helpful. There was no pressure to make any specific decision. Just as soon as I decide what to do, I will be calling them back.

Of the companies I got estimates from, I was most comfortable with Mr. Dorsey and American Air Masters. His pricing was in the middle of the range of estimates, he was very thorough, talked to me like an adult, and he didn't give me any song-and-dance like so many estimators do. Eric the tech showed up on time, was personable and professional, and to my amazement did all the work by himself; and those are big, heavy units. It was supposed to take approximately 4-5 hours, but the indoor unit was configured incorrectly. This added about three more hours to correct the situation and required Mr. Dorsey to come out and assist. I was a little irritated because I felt this could have been avoided, but who knows how this stuff happens. I was just happy that they got everything in place and working and cleaned up. I immediately noticed a huge difference in cooling ability/quality, and also a difference on my cooling costs (lower). Can't wait to see how it affects my heating costs. An added bonus is the tax break we'll be getting on 2010 taxes. Because of the tax break we got a higher-end energy efficient system for the cost of a regular basic system. I'm quite happy with my new system and the overall experience, plan to use American Air Masters for any future heating & a/c needs, and strongly recommend their services.

Curtis came out during lunch, took some measurements, and gave me a few options I could go with. I found what I needed, we worked on payments, and scheduled an install date. 3 guys showed up, did the work in awesome time, cleaned up, and showed me how to use the system. It works great and I couldn't be any happier. I would recommend them to anyone.
