Checked the electric plug, then that all the elements were getting power, working his way methodically through the heating system of the dryer, eliminating as he went. Great top down approach. Found the monitor and replaced. All is now working.

David diagnosed the rattle and knocking in my washing machine right away. After checking his inventory of parts, he told me that the prices of the part have jumped so high, that it wouldn't be worth replacing. He assured me that it will continue to work--until it breaks--and that could be a week or a year. He advised me to wait and buy a new machine when this one quit working. I made the decision not to replace the part and the washing machine is still working fine. It's just noisy. David didn't charge me for the house visit (although he really should have).
He fixed my dryer a month or so before. It had stopped heating. He replaced the thermostat and it's worked fine ever since.
Full disclosure--David is a distant relative (small town) but I actually didn't know him. I would recommend him.

Replaced a part and spent time melting all the ice that had built up in the freezer. Unfortunately, he plugged a cord inside the freezer in the wrong way so the refrigerator still did not work. Returned to my house after calling GE to determine what the problem could possibly be and made the change to fix the refrigerator. Even though he had to return to finally fix the refrigerator, I do feel that he did a good job and being able to plug a cord in incorrectly was a defect in the manufacture of the cord and plug.

Heating and Air Conditioning Service
Service was quick, unit returned on 8/20.
However, repairman came out on Friday and found that the unit needed to go to the shop. He did not take the unit out (I had to find someone to help me move a 18,500 BTU, 113lb unit) said it was against company policy due to liability issues.
Found someone to help me get the unit out of its location and once we got the unit out and sat it in the LR floor, we had to call (and wait) for the repairman to come back out and put the unit on a dolly and roll to the truck.
Same in reverse, repair guy delivered the unit back to the house, wheeled it in on the dolly and left it in the Living room floor. Now i have to find someone (live by myself) to help me hoist the unit back up and put back in place.
But then, this company repaired the unit - company name says Dave's Appliances which I assumed meant moving the unit if needed. I was wrong. If you use them - best to have the heavy work done first so they'll deal with the bad appliance. They don't do the and quot;heavy liftingand quot;.
Given my location, this is about the only game in town for appliance repair - would I use them again? I may have to. But that would be after I've called every last listing in the phone book to see if I could find a company that would actually move the item in question.

He arrives on time and is very fast. He's never taken more than 30 minutes to fix something for us. His prices are very reasonable we've always been satisfied with his work.
