Auto Doc

About us

Auto Doc opened its door for business in October 1989 and is a family owned and operated business. Initially, my wife’s grandmother and I operated the business until 1991 when the Lord called her home. We started the business with a box of miscellaneous hand tools and very little equipment. Auto Doc is now a full service automotive repair shop with five lifts, computer analysis equipment, A/C recovery equipment, an alignment machine, brake lathe, an ignition analyzer, and numerous specialty tools. Originally, our shop area consisted of four service bays(1600 sq. ft.). In 1996, our business expanded, and we added six more service bays. The shop area now has a total of ten service bays (4000 sq. ft.). In addition to the shop, we remodeled the office waiting area to create the best waiting area for auto repair customers in Greenville, Texas and most surrounding cities. We have the cleanest shop in the area (and clean restrooms). We now employ a service writer, three technicians, and a receptionist. Our service writer is my wife’s brother. He was a technician for twenty years before becoming the lead technician at Auto Doc. When the business expanded, we promoted him into management. Our three ASE certified technicians are thorough in their work performance and highly motivated to maintain our quality work standards. We will give our customers a ride to and from home/work, if within a 5 mile radius. Our customers take top priority. We strive to provide a friendly, courteous, #1 auto repair facility that performs quality work at a fair price. We have run a successful business now for the past twenty-three years and are continuing to grow. We feel that we have gained the trust and respect of our customers and will continue to make them #1 at Auto Doc.

While Kim has been very professional and clearly upset by our complaints, her inability to do anything about it (whether by her choice or the directive of the new owner that lives in California) leaves us with no other choice than to leave a review detailing the problems we had. Whether or not you will have them, well... you roll the dice. We brought them our older PT Cruiser last summer after having a blowout on the side of the road due to the tire wearing out on the inside edge which was caused by worn out front suspension issues. We checked around to see who was likely going to have a mechanic that could do a good diagnostics and settled on Auto Doc because of the review about the old owner (didn't know it had been sold) being very honest and reliable and the fact that the place looks very nice, not your typical nasty, greasy mechanic shop. Brought them the car and asked for a solid diagnostic to see what all needed to be repaired to decide if the car was worth spending the money on, or if it should just be put to rest. They came back with a thousand dollars (give or take) worth of repairs and when I asked, specifically, if that covered everything, I was told "yes, that will make the car safe to be on the road again, but you will need two new tires and an alignment." 6 months later, I notice a clunking noise in the front end and was told by the tire shop when I went to get two new tires for the back of the car that the new strut wasn't installed correctly and that was what the noise was. they also pointed out that the new tires I had just bought on the front end were worn very badly, one on the inside past the safety bar and on the right the same, but on the outside edge of the tire. I called Kim and she was very pleasant and said I should bring the car in to have it looked at, so we did. After they looked at it, they said it wasn't the strut, but a few other parts under the front end that would cost another 1500.00 (give or take) to replace and then another alignment and two more new tires. I said no, not going to spend more money on this car and I was then charged over a hundred dollars for the "inspection/diagnostic", which is ironic, because I had already paid for the same 6 months prior and they didn't find anything then. Seems to me that this is a game where they knew I would have said no to the cost to repair originally and figured they could just string me along, bit by bit. Suffice it to say, I was NOT happy. I asked why wasn't this addressed when the car had been first inspected? Had I known there was more that needed repair, I wouldn't have bothered. The car isn't worth as much as the repairs would cost and I said as much. She couldn't tell me why it wasn't addressed and just said that sometimes parts wear out, but when asked why the original diagnostics didn't state that there was significant wear and the parts would need attention soon, she said she didn't know, but that she couldn't do anything about it. I took it to another mechanic to see what their thoughts on it were and they stated that I was right, I was either owed money back for the original diagnostics that wasn't performed correctly (no mechanic worth his salt could have missed the torn and missing rubber bushings, boots and wear that was showing) or some kind of compensation for having performed work without properly informed consent. I contacted Kim again and asked for a detailed printout of the work they had done, she was pleasant enough, but as of this review, 2 months later, I still have received nothing from them. I expect I won't either and I'm quite certain they are concerned about the consequences at this point of being dishonest. Be warned, this company isn't interested in anything other than how much money they can squeeze you for.

we took our truck in to fix they told us 3 different things wrong told us 700 to fix, we said ok fix...they call us the next day and say oh the bolt broke off and broke in a part and now it costs 700 more for you to fix. NOW they do have a picture and the truck is older 2001 with a little over 70,000 miles because it's driven and owned by an 88 year old, YES there was alot of rust under there,so ANY good mechanic would have known looking at that much rust there was a possibility of the bolt breaking off, they should've stopped called us asked us if we wanted to take a chance on that bolt breaking AND how much it would cost if it did...there we're also ways to soak that bolt for a day or so so it POSSIBLY would've came out easier. NOPE they broke and held us responsible to pay OR if not have to tow the truck out of there disassembled and not running for hundreds dollars, we drove the truck in there running, we just picked it up it was 999.99 and 840.00 was labor charge and we did not get the other parts they claim were broke as well fixed , this was the worst choice we could've made taking it here we only picked them because they were chosen # 1 in Hunt County in the paper. I would definitely think twice before taking your car to them.

Overall: good people, conscientious communication, quality work, prompt and clean service.
I initially contacted Auto Doc for a quote, and they requested I bring the vehicle to the shop so they could inspect it and provide a quote sheet. That appointment was quick and painless, and the quote sheet was easy to understand.
I brought the vehicle back a few days later for the service to be performed. They initially expected to be done that day, but called in the afternoon to inform me they needed to continue the work the next morning. This was not a problem for me, and when I picked up the vehicle the next day Larry made a point to tell me that if I found any issues with their work I should let them know so they could make it right. I have not had any issues in the subsequent 2,000 miles on the vehicle.
A few days after the service I received a detailed "How Did We Do?" questionnaire in the mail.
Overall my impression was that the staff really care about customer satisfaction and quality work, which is a feeling I rarely get at auto shops and dealerships these days. I had no complaints and will not hesitate to use them again.

Took it back 5 or 6 times to have problem resolved without any success.  Still have the vehicle and still can't drive it over 55mph.
Engine needed to be pulled and parts balanced but AutoDoc not willing to do what was necessary.  Very dissatisfied with their backup of the first overhaul and even more dissatisfied with the second.  Classic "stall the customer" until he goes away. Would not recommend AutoDoc to anyone for any type of service.

Called in afternoon for an oil change appointment the next morning. They didn't have an appointment available until late day. My schedule did not work with any of their availabilities for three days. They ended up squeezing me into a morning appointment the next day. I only had to wait about 15 minutes more than usual for an oil change. I didn't mind because they worked with my schedule. We have the Lifetime Oil Change they offer, that's why there was no charge. They are always pleasant , friendly, accommodating and honest (they told me I should take my '73 Benz to a specialist for work - who turns away business these days?). They service our current every day vehicles (a Ford and a GMC) and have serviced several vehicles for us in the past (Buick, Subaru, Honda, Cadillac and Dodge).

For anyone especially I have to say women out there looking for professionals you can trust, this is the place to take your vehichle! They have good, quality, honest service! I was very impressed. They are so nice, friendly and seem genuinely caring even when it comes to a woman with an old car that they could have told me MANY things were wrong. But instead, only fixed what I asked! Unbelieveable! I wish I knew of a place like this with just good people left doing honest work in Houston! Thank you Auto Doc!

Jeff, the Service Writer for Auto Doc, listened carefully to my story, he took good notes, and then he set out to address the list of problems. After only one day of diagnosis, Jeff called me and explained where we were at with the Jeep. I fully understood his explanation and I gave him the green light to proceed with the repairs. The Jeep was ready for pickup (2) days later and all is well. Our experience was great with Auto Doc, and from this point forward, they will be handling all of our vehicle service needs. Thank you, Auto Doc, for a job well done!

My Jeep had a grinding\rattling sound when I left for work this morning. I drove it into Auto Doc and explained what had happened and that I was hoping to at least make a have day for work. The vehicle was in the shop within 10 minutes, the issue was diagnosed within another 10 minutes, and I was presented with my options. The drive shaft for the 4-wheel drive had broken and a replacement would part would cost $600. However, the service manager (?), Jeff, also said he could just remove the shaft and they would charge me their minimum rate of $44.42. Everyone at the shop showed genuine concern for my situation, were pleasant to converse with and my experience was very calm.
My mother-in-law also went here to have a tire repaired\replaced and was extremely satisfied. I will definitely be referring my neighbors and friends in the area here.

I've used them for 2 different vehicles probably 4 times. Twice it turned out to be something small , that i assumed would be a huge repair. I've found them to be quick and honest and haven't had an issue with any repairs they have done. I hate to take my car anywhere but it's nice to have a good mechanic in the area.

They were very upfront about what my car needed and what the manufacturer recommended. They told me that many of the services i had requested weren't necessary for my car for another 25,000-75,000 miles.  One dealer mechanic told me i needed an alternator to get rid of this whining noise, but it was only the idler pully.  and it worked fine.  I have my oil changed there regularly and now i will be sure to go there for any other mechanical issues i have.  They were honest and integral .  Very important to me as a single woman that they did not try to take advantage of me.  I really can't say enough good things about them.

My daughter made an appointment and dropped her car off. The car was ready for pickup within a few hours and the price was what had been quoted. My daughter likes the repair shop because they explain everything to you in easy to understand terms. She says they do not speak to you like you are an idiot. She says that Auto Doc will get all of her business and she also refers others to them. The is the third time she has had work performed on her car..
